I love the M1 carbine. Definitely the handiest gun I own. I love shooting it.
I've never used it hunting, but I would expect that it works best under 50 yards. Accuracy starts to get a bit iffy past 100 yards -- especially compared to Rem 700, M1a, Springfield, Garand, Mauser, etc.
For hunting, I want to be able to nail the lungs at 200 yards without worry. The carbine is not the gun for this. But I sure love it.
I love the .30 cal. It did its job well and is a joy to shoot today. I also love the folks posting here who understand nothing about weapons and tools. "The proper tool for the proper job". Carbines are not sniper weapons. Short barrels and long ranges are incompatible. The stopping power is unquestioned. No matter what size the round, if you hit the right place, at the right range, the target drops. Carbines are close quarters weapons. 0-300 yards. SWEET!!
Well, my first impression was that the jug was struck from the side (circumventing the barriers). However, if you look towards the top of the denim in 0:41 of the video directly below what appears to be a fold, a new dark pixel (it's grainy video) appears directly below the fold and remains for the duration of the video.
Having shot various things that don't constitute as conventional targets (IE propane tanks, books, scrap wood), I've noticed not everything reacts typically when struck.
@snowdogthewolf Thank you!! Yea, i have no reason to try and make this gun more of what it is. This was one of my beginning Youtube videos, if i knew then what i know now, i would have used a better camera, and showed all entrance and exit holes, along with editing the "dead space" from me jotting back and forth to the camera. But, it is what it is. I proved my point that the myth of frozen clothing stopping the M1 bullet was ridiculous and that the M1 could penetrate more than we all thought!
I have no doubt the accounts of bullets from the M1 Carbine deflected/defeated by DPRK clothing were greatly exaggerated (and misses for the most part). Within 100 yards, the stubby 110gr FMJ would have completely plowed through a malnourished DRPK clad in several frozen wool parkas with consistancy.
I believe the failures came mostly from those engaging the enemy well outside the War Baby's intended operating range (IE 250+ yards) or poorly placed shots.
@snowdogthewolf Exactly! Maybe with winter approaching, i may try another test in colder conditions at a further distance?? lol Yea, my Grandfather used this gun in the Korean war and loved it! He did admit though, that when it came to raw power, the M1 Garand was much more powerful, and liked the fact the enemies didnt have to be so close to shoot at. I would love to add a Garand to my collection, but price is very steep on them :(
Uh, did it go through the barrier or around it? I didn't see the block or denim move at all. The water jug got pushed to the side also. A 6x6 block would take alot of energy away from any bullet. That energy transfer would make the block wiggle at least a little.
@gmonkey3 Would you stand in front of one?? NO, i didnt think so. Go buy yourself the biggest gun in the gun store, then go to the shooting range and show it off so you can make yourself look cool and compensate for your small penis
@m1shadow Dude! What's wrong with you? I was just sayin that it looks like the jug was shot from 'around' the barriers. The wood block didn't even wiggle. I don't care what you shoot a 6x6 block with, it's gonna move. The video is not good. Sorry. I like the M1 carbine, in fact I own two. Just because I doubt your video, you're saying I'd be dumb enough to step in front of one. What? You're nutty. I think you're insecure about your own penis. Mine is just fine.
@gmonkey3 lmao, whats next, you going to say i know you are, but what am I? Dude, i will be the first to admit,.. the quality and long pause in video was due to my 1st camera that can record and my lack of knowledge at the time w movie maker. Now, as far as it looking like i shot it from the side... simply look at the direction the water sprayed! Im not trying to be a di*k, but i have no reason to fabricate the M1's power.. i have plenty of other guns way more powerful.
i had one and found its range and penetration to be just fine. i studied the bullet and found that it has the energy of a 44 magnum at close range and with practice and if you stay calm it is accurate against a man sized target a city block away. the french in vnam found it excellent in penetration. us problems in korea mainly due to lack of practice and inexperience. also some crappy ww2 surplus ammo. modern rounds kick butt. id rather have this than most smg in open country.
@cwross1976 Nice! Yea, i had to do this demonstration because it is def an underated gun and while it might not be a 30-06.... it is still a battle rifle that can do it's job within 300 yards!
Mine has killed multiple deer. Even out at a couple hundred yards. It is no high powered rifle, but I think it is in no doubt a great self defense round.
I think the problem with the 30 carbine was that it became underpowered at range. I feel this is due to its relatively light 30 cal bullet that has a round nose and a flat base. It must of had the ballistic coefficient of a brick and a the trajectory of a shuttlecock. But it was never designed to be a long range gun. I have heard that the M2 version was very sought after in vietnam where there was a lot of close range jungle combat. Even more so than the m-16 when that came into service...
@OCofthe3 the .30 cartrige has about the same muzzle enegery as a .44 mag. It is lighter at 110 grains but deadly at close (under 150 yards) range. People compared it to the 30-06 the gerrand fired and called it underpowered. But it will kill someone just as dead at close/moderate range
@SupremeAmerican Yeah its so funny when I hear the Carbine mentioned, everyone says, "it has weak stopping power" and "it takes up to 5 shots to kill someone" then Ihear the .357 Magnum mentioned, everyone's like "THAT has some SERIOUS power!" Yet, both rounds have nearly identical kinetic energy, and penetration/stopping power.
@LoneWolf051 Very well said by you and supreme American! Idiots w/no knowledge of gun's think just because the carbine is not as powerful as the Garand; which shoots the very powerful 30-06.. they stupidly mistake the carbine as weak!?! Yet, at 300 yards.. which is it's rated max effective range, it still retains the energy a standard pistol round has point blank! Problem is... the general idea of people w/no common sense is, if something isn't the biggest and baddest, it's no good..=ignorance!
@m1shadow Exactly, I mean the Carbine IS designed to be weak, not weak aspeople think, (no killing power) but weak as in not going through a person (something the high velocity, pointed 30-06 does) but going in about 6-8 inches flattening out and expanding inside the body, creating a massive wound cavity, because all its energy is expended in that small 6-8 inch penetration cavity, making the Carbine able to cause a much larger cavity channel than the 30-06, the 30-06 passes rather neatly though
@m1shadow well i wouldnt call it weak,,, but it is merely a pistol cartridge... id be much more content carrying any number of the .556 carbines,, a decent AR cost just as much as one of these things now adays,, with all that being said i love my M1,,,, for shooting rabits and what not lol//
I had always assumed the M-1 carbine round to be anemic.... but watched a demo on the History Channel, comparing M-1 & M-1 carbine, shooting into ballistic gelatin.....the M-1 carbine round, if anything, made a larger wound cavity than the 30-06 round, to my surprise...would love to see a demo of the M-1 carbine, loaded with .30 sabots, and 40 gr .223 bullets.... at @ 3500 fps....
@mrtruthify I will check that out, thank you!! Yes, i love my M1carbine! My grandfather gave it to me, and thats why it's so sentimental.. he loves too when i take it out and shoot it! I just dont shoot it too often because of the ammo $ for it.
I love my M1's. I have an older military surplus...the stock is a bit rough but it shoots like new. I loved it so much that I just bought a brand new one made by Kahr. Sure it's not a surplus original but it's built just like the original one I have with the dissapointing exception that I noticed it does not have a yardage adjustment at the rear sight...kind of strange really. Still, as an owner of nearly 20 firearms the M1 is still one of my all time favs. Nice vid!
@CrystalHunter1989 without a doubt! I plan on making another video w/better quality, and from an even farther range to give even more credit to this wonderful rifle!
@CrystalHunter1989 you and me both!lol, It's an awesome gun to shoot; accurate, low recoil, reliable, but ammo is expensive! Though i found a box of 50 rounds the other day for $21 at my local gunshop.. have seen higher prices. My Carbine is by far my favorite gun, my grandfather gave it to me, and he loves when i shoot it.. makes him feel good.
@m1shadow Dang it, you too? My gun karma is lousy, have yet to inherit anything (with the exception of one pistol as a b-day present). I think the Carbine would easily skyrocket in popularity again if not for the oddball caliber. The design is pretty much flawless. I hate it that these great weapons are slowly being phased out of our world.
I hear the Philippine Army still uses this as their main rifle, anyone know if that is truth? It's a nice little rifle, I just recently picked up a Quality Hardware & Machine unit in excellent condition set up as an M1A2. I'd would tend to agree with most on here that it's better than a pistol for under 150 yards, if not why would it have been issued to so many of our troops and Allies. Thanks for the test video.
LoneWolf051: Not according to what my dad said (who just passed away of a major stoke this morning, BTW), lots of guys had the same complaint. There was such a rush to get arms to "The Boys" that lots of times the quality suffered for the sake of production numbers.
My dad, now 91 and in a nursing home, was a bazookaman in the Black Forest of Germany late in WWII. While he carried his tube, his loader carried a carbine. If they got in a firefight the tube was fairly useless, and he and his loader would share the carbine. He would tell me that more often than not, his carbine would disassemble itself just when it was needed the most! Parts would just fly off. His weapon was built by Royal Typewriter Company.
@LongBinh70 Wow, sounds like a defective weapon, or poorly assembled, dont know how that particular Carbine got past inspection before leaving the plant.
well the argument wasn't agains't the carbines close distance shooting but rather against its long distance performance such as 200 yards. The commie koreans were not dying even with multiple hits at distance from the carbine.
@grizz474 At 200yds, the .30 carbine bullet is traveling around 1322fps, and retaining 427ft lbs energy,, in comparison, a 9mm point blank is 1280fps, and 421ft lbs energy! I think that should change your mind about its capabilities at 200 yds. As far as long distance,, I never tried making this gun out to be a sniper rifle, but it does the job for its intended 200-300yd max eff range. Dont believe all the crap you read about it not stopping soldiers,, most likely they were just missing them!
@MrAdamRosio for sure,, i have an SKS and shoot that the most because its fairly cheap,, the same can be said for my M44 Mosin nagant; 20 rounds of corrosive surplus ammo for 5.99! I clean my guns good anyway, so not concerned about the corrosive stuff.
@m1shadow This is ccsniper on my brothers channel. NO I would not want to be down range of someone with an m1 carbine, but I was just saying that the original argument against the reliability and effectiveness of the m1 carbine was at distance and it was not as reliable in sub zero temperature. I think the m1 carbine is a great 150 yard gun but mine is not quite accurate enough for me to get good COM hits at 200 or 300 yards. I agree with you, I think the American soldiers were just missing.
@deathtollguy For sure, i totally hear you,, i must have misunderstood you, lol. I know what you mean about the distance thing too. I agree its probably not as accurate at longer ranges than 200 yds, and max eff range of 300. Its the round nose shape of the bullet,, it lowers the ballistic coefficent,, not as accurate as a pointed shaped bullet at long range. My grandfather loved his M1 carbine in Korea,, but he said for long distance,, the Garand was the gun! I want one some day!
@m1shadow The first time I shot an M1 carbine at 200 yards I aimed high expecting a lot of drop out of the bullet. Much to my surprise the round did not drop like I figured it would. By the 3rd shot I was hitting a 1'x1' metal plate everytime with iron sights at 200 yards. I love that gun so finaly picked one up a few days ago. Out of all the military guns I have collected over the years, the M1 carbine is the one I enjoy the best.
@m1shadow my grand pa was on a mine sweeper boat in Korea. they used to set off russian built sea mines that had pressure fingers with the M1 carbines. he said it was pretty good carbine.
@deathtollguy agreed, there is also the factor that both german and japanese troops were fed amphetamines. i head good things, from people that used them.
A sub zero temperature setting would be more accurate to the test.( I.E.frozen moist wood, cold rounds and gun). Nun the less, this was great to see the power of this under rated , North Korean, rice powered zombie killing machine!
@dirtypantylover yea, if i could do the test over again, i would have done a few things different,, nonetheless, i did the 8 layers of frozen denim to shatter that myth of frozen clothing; as you can see, it went through the layers of frozen denim and 6x6 so easily,, it didnt even shake! The water jug was just to show it made it through.
@WinchesterRanger Yes! Its actually on my own land on a shooting range i built for myself! I love target shooting to the point i do it about 4 days a week, i figure why drive and pay for a range when i could have the convenience on my property!
@WinchesterRanger Thank you! It really is nice having land, takes a while to mow, but its worth it! You will have land like this someday, then you can build your own shooting range!
I really like the look of the M1 Carbine, was watching Weaponology for the French Foreign Legion and this guy took that weapon and shot a ballistic clay block or something and the block was made into a sheet. So all these people who say the weapon isn't powerful is really stupid, and your video also proves it. Thanks for all your work and proving these idiots wrong who are too stupid to realize that they are WRONG.
@desperado8556 I totally hear you. I love this gun, but i hardly shoot it; the cheapest i find ammo for it is like $25 for 50 rounds. At least w/my SKS i spend about $6 for 20 rounds, and the same for surplus ammo for my M44. I just wish M1 carbine ammo would drop in price, i would shoot it so much; its accurate, low recoil, and fun!
I love and respect the M-1 carbine. My uncle used his in the US ARMY 335th Division Railsplitters in Belgium, Battle of the Bulge,WW2 , fighting in open country and house to house. He SWORE BY THIS RIFLE!!!!!
Anyone who doubts the power of the carbine should do some research all rifles should be feared and I personally would not want to be hit by something moving at 1,970 feet per second. A little .380 moving 1000 feet per second can kill you so imagine what this gun will do.
However, M1shadow, I recommend that next time, you show the gun itself being fired, because some people might claim you were only pretending it is an M1 Carbine and were using something more powerful off camera. I trust you, but skeptics will leap on any little thing to keep their delusions intact.
If anyone needs proof that the M1 Carbine is more than up to the task, then they need look no further than the fact that USMC used the weapon extensively in the Pacific & the FFL used it in Vietnam with great success. Only place where the M1 got a bad reputation was in Korea when it tended to freeze up during the winter but that was due to bad gun oil & maintenance, not the gun itself.
i love watching videos of my great grandfather's gun he made in the tool shop of the jail house after he did moonshine and was said he shot a officer reason why i love these videos so much well i pretty much explained it to you my great grandfather david marshall williams while he was in jail if you dont think im apart of the williams family then look in records and in family trees cause i am
@Scioneer ya i already knew bout tht i dnt know if i said it on this video or another video but im the great great grandson of mr. david williams himself he was on my moms side if u dnt beleive me then well i dont care
@reaperflynn3 Gun smith for what? Air soft?? lol, your a joke, you should never be around guns,, i would pay you NOT to touch my guns, and your also prob one of those guys who gets the biggest gun, loudest stereo, most expensive tv, and biggest pickup truck to compensate for a very small penis!
You are clearly an idiot for correcting someone who has a profession in this and has spent years of research and experience dealing with firearms, I have three firearms that fire this cartridge. I bet you don't own one. So what gives you the point to correct me? People aren't made of jean shorts and wood. This gun was a PDW , Not for hard combat. Soldiers on both sides have reported these rounds bouncing off winter clothing. What does a penis have to do with this? 12 year old moron.
@reaperflynn3 you really are stupid!! lol, you said i prob dont own 1?? What the F do you think i used for the test????? Obviously my M1carbine! But that takes COMMON SENSE to understand, which you clearly dont have! keep talking trash on the internet toughguy, its all you have. BTW, would you stand in front of an M1carbine being shot at you???? I cant wait to hear the stupid response on this question
@reaperflynn3 your a real wise guy honestly tell these morons tyhe truth because this is something they clearly head out of medal of honor or somthing
i heard this idot talking about that if you have a jacket on, the round wont even penetrate your jacket, then he said that the m1 carbine was the best rifle ever used by any military.
@hovanti good point! You should be happy with the M1carbine; it has little to no recoil, is very light, accurate, and fun to shoot! The only thing i dont like is the ammo is on the pricey side :(
@Thelonesniper101 lmao, you sound like the type of guy who prob says the .22lr is a toy too because it is one of the weakest guns,, so heres what i say to you type of people,, would you stand in front of an M1carbine and let someone shoot you with it?? Prob not! Now, go buy yourself the biggest pickup truck you can find to compensate for your low self esteem and more than likely very small penis.
@m1shadow Try saying that if a german troop was charging at you with a Kar98k and you coulent stop him with your M1 carbine. You would be dead, and the world would be a better place. Yeah.
@Thelonesniper101 wow, i guess you told me! lol, Now, listen here little boy, go buy yourself the best, most expensive, video game system you can buy, then go brag about it to your classmates, and maybe it will make you feel like a bigger man. Good luck!
You have got to be kidding me, you again? If you actually shot, there might be some credibility to your opinion, but since you don't, and you have never laid your hands on either of the rifles in question, you are in no way entitled to an opinion. Get this everybody, this kid threatened to shoot a child with his "308" (.308 winchester, he can't even get it right.) from 500 yds, like this is some incredible accomplishment, he doesn't even know that 500 yds is nowhere near impressive.
This whole myth is 50/50. I have a real nice Carbine, there is nothing lack of power about it, it has more than .357 magnum velocity. The reson this myth got started was nothing to do with power, it had to do with the cold effecting the burn rate of the POWDER! The Army found that the freezing cold the powder they were using would not burn complete therefor loss of velocity, they fixed this problem ASAP with new primers and a change in the powder mix. Hope this helps
Penetration does not equal kinetic energy and stopping power. Very simple physics, say the 30. cal round carries 1000 units of kinetic energy, if it penetrates a target completely it stall has energy to keep going, so lets say 500 units of energy enter the target and 500 dont. Now say a .45 acp carries 800 units of energy, because it does not fully penetrate the target it empties all 800 units of energy into the target. This of course is an example and are not actual figures. Enjoy shooting!
Step Dad had a bayonet scar after hitting a Chinese soldier 3 or 4 times and last he knew the guy just kept running. Talked to many old vets of Korea and they all said that even the heavy parkas of Chicoms took so much energy out of 30 carbine it took multiple hits. Universal made a pistol out of carbine, as did another manuf, hell you had to aim at moon to hit over 300yrds and less poop than hot .357. Glad you showed this flic my buddy now owes me 5 bucks on the wet denim. Thank You!
You obviously no nothing about guns HOWFREERU!The .30 Carbine has more energy than a .45,, and that is a well known manstopper! Do research before you run your mouth on stuff you dont know about.
@1sowild dude the 45 dumps all its energy in its target to 30 gost gos strait through it like a 9mm fmj ect. if he was shootink a jhp instead of a fmj bullet than it would of done a littlr more damage but not this time
@FutureSeal94 i know that they dont use jhp rounds they banned any bullet that derforms on impact so they stuck with a copper coated laed fmj round dude so go tak e a dump your probly just some trailerpark white trash that is to fat to join the navy seals
@codwawlover45 actually, back the fuck off, I'm 16 and I have been swimming year round for 5 years run track and cross country every year, along with swimming for my school on top of yearound swimming. I'm probably in better shape now then you have been in your entire life. I live in Virginia Beach, and will be happy to give you my adress so that you can come and get your ass kicked by a 16 year old. So, unless you are ready to put your body where your mouth is, Shut The Fuck Up!
@FutureSeal94 you im in Jersey come here and ive got a few 45 acp hollow pionts waiting 4 your punk soul so keep swiming and running because youll need to run if you encounter me who cares if your 16
@codwawlover45 that fine, I got a .308 168grain sierra MatchKing waiting for you if you come within 800yds of my house. The point was, I'm not some sonofabitch 45year old armchair warrior who likes to make himself feel better by putting down people and acting like a dueche who doesn't know anything. And if that's not good enough for you I'll shoot your dick off with a 12gauge and make you pick out the birdshot with your mouth.
@FutureSeal94 dude i dont know how it got to this all i was here 4 was to talk abaot wich has more power and penetration dude the 30 carbine has more penetration but the 45acp has more stopping power and im only 25 so were did this wheel chair warrior come from and im not putting any body down unless the start something so
@codwawlover45 I propose a truce, I didn't mean for it to get this far either. Sorry. But, I tested my M1 carbine on a quart jug of water and then later that day I shot one with my dad's M&P .45 and it did a lot less. And the reaction of a jug of water is equivelent to the hydrostatic shock which is created by the round, which is the largest contributor to stopping power.
@codwawlover45 I still the .45, it is the king of Auto pistol rounds. Just like either the .30-06 or .308 are the king of rifle rounds, and not going to get into that debate, I like both. Just when comparing rifle and pistol round, the rifle round almost always wins just because it has so much more energy than a pistol round, unless we are talking .22 LR or .17HMR, stuff like that is the exception.
@FutureSeal94 thank you i understand what you talking about but i did some research yesterday and it depends on wether a pistol roun is more powerfull than a rifle round but on thi the 30 carbine is smaller and faster and the 45 is biger and slower so the 45 has more stoping power but 30 30 can penetrate though a lot of things and do significant damage im glad we worked this out but i dont know every thing yet so you may be right
@codwawlover45 30 carbine is a rifle round, and caliber has nothing to do with power, i could have a longass .22in diameter round that weights 200grains, shoot it from a bigass casing at 3000fps and have more power than a 30-06 round, caliber is the diameter of the projectile not power so shut the hell up!
@FutureSeal94 dude i agree with you on diameter but i dont agree with you but im not an idiot i know the caliber is the diameter but all im saying is a 45acp is bigger and slower so if i had to choose 2 have one i would choose the 45 acp because it has more stopping power than a 30 carbine a 30 carbine is small and fast so its good but not best it has more penetration than a 45 acp but not more stopping power=)
@codwawlover45 yes, but the .45 and .30 carbine have such a difference in power that the energy that is dumped by a .30 carbine is still much greater than that of .45 ACP.
@codwawlover45 .30 carbine is a rifle round, and caliber has nothing to do with energy. look at the equation for kenetic energy E=M*V^2, do you see anything about projectile diameter in there, no, well that is what caliber is, projectile diameter in inches, .30 caliber means .30 of an inch, .45 means .45 of an inch. And all rifle round have a higher velocity than a 9mm, if you look closely and have good vision, you can see 9mm rounds as the leave the barrel.
there are other bullets available for the m1 carbine that won't penetrate that much, those are suited for home defense and hunting, I've used the m1 garand and carbine in combat and at range under 150 yards I'd prefer the carbine, I've shot through car doors with the 30 carbine FMJ steel core and it's perfectly suited for a defensive weapon. Good video
Where you going to find steel core 30cal. I got a couple hundred rounds of realy old stuff, 70's surplus and 24% of them don't do as what yours did. How far away? The 30 cal loses so much poop at 100 never mind beyond. Ya had to hit Charles 4 or 5 times at a 100m to stop him and he was a little guy. Does make a good ranch or farm type weapon, although I have seen body shot yotes run away. Fast fire, lt recoil, ammo is not cheap, mags are, but you can buy a mini 14 or Ak variant for less today.
I receive alot of comments saying that the Garand is more powerful, other guns are more powerful etc, etc, etc. The whole point of this demo has NOTHING to do with comparing the Carbine to the Garand or any high power rifle. THE SIMPLE REASON I DID THIS DEMO WAS TO DISCARD THE MYTH THAT FROZEN DENIM COULD STOP A .30 CARBINE BULLET. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS!
It acctually looks as if the water bottle was shot from the direction of the camera. Also, the M1 has plenty of MUZZLE energy, but that does not equate to ranged stopping power. It over penetrates. Every foot the projectile travels after passing through a body is wasted energy. Good for close in home defense.
@sapc2009 The whole point though of this test and demo was to shatter the stupid, rediculous, myth, that frozen denim could stop a .30 caliber bullet.
While the .30 carbine has the muzzle energy of a .44 magnum (around 1,000 ft lbs) , there are many other weapons much suitable for war with muzzle energies over 2,000 ft lbs, i.e. the m1 garand.
@TriggerHappyLunatics this test has NOTHING to do with the Garand or any other rifles, all this demo was for is to discard the myth that frozen denim stops a .30 bullet.
@TriggerHappyLunatics nothing to apologize for! Actually, it would be interesting though to see what the Garand could penetrate! My grandfather used both the Carbine and the Garand in the Korean war, he said the Carbine was nice and compact to carry, however, he said with the Garand, he liked how it retained power for a long distance so he wouldnt have4 to get to close to the enemy. Maybe one day i will get a Garand too!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
My grandfather carried one in combat....several men I have spoken with said in combat situations the first thing they would do is drop there .30 cal carbine and look for a Garand.
What does this video have to do with the m1 garand kalashnicough???? The OBVIOUS reason for this video was to show the Carbines penetration capabilities, it never said it was more powerful than the Garand !
Thanks so much! There are so many idiots saying that the M1 Carbine sucks and it lacks firepower and all of that stuff, when the only time they have ever seen a M1 Carbine being shot is on video games. TAKE THAT IDIOTS!!!!
@RE4man101 Those "Idiots" are actually nearly 50 years of battlefield feed back from its users. It is much more of a pistol cartridge than a rifle or assault rifle cartridge. It is a sweet gun but there are many reports of enemies getting back up and even bouncing off of enemies.
@reaperflynn3 Yeah, I a pistol cartrige with a lot of damn powder! Seriously? Have you even seen what a carbine can do? I shot a tree IN HALF with one and it only took about 7 minutes! Bouncing off enemies? Dont you think thats a little... unbelievable?
@reaperflynn3 wtf??? Are you an idiot?? The whole purpose of this demo was to DISprove those bouncing off rumors! I just showed in this video the Carbine round penetrating through 8 layers frozen denim, 6 inches of wood, and a waterjug Effortlessly!! If it could do that, just imagine a person,, now, you think that would bounce off someone? Someone as dumb as you should never be allowed near a firearm,, or even TALK about them because your so ignorant!!
@reaperflynn3 you're an idiot, have you ever even seen a 30 carbine bullet, it is much more powerful than even the venerable .44 magnum, and have you ever seen a .44 magnum bounce of a persons winter clothing, I though not.
@robin6512 It has really good usage at 500 yards too though. If you put a scope on that thing, you can make it do AMAZING things. This gun is really handy especially when your dealing with varments, but it's also a fairly cheap WWII gun if your a history buff. I got my original 1944 M1 Carbine for $700 dollars at the Annual Winchester Gun Show, then I bought an original 1940's M1 Carbine bayonet for $150.
@robin6512 Mine was a IBM reciever and stock, but the barrel was made by Underwood. Underwood focused primarily in barrels (That's why a lot of guns have the Underwood barrel on them) but made some rifles as well.
Its more than enough power for close quarter combat. The french preferred them in indo-china in the 50's 'cause combat in the jungle was 30 yds. or less.
No offense taken, i def see what you mean, because the wood never even shook, however, if you rewatch the video, look at the direction the water sprays,, if that helps. I can assure you, this video is legit. I really do appreciate your input! You prob pointed out something other people might have wondered, but didnt ask. I might eventually do another demo, and try with my better, newer camera, and maybe from another angle.
yeah its annoying people saying it doesnt have enough power. it was designed to be a little, portable, light gun. and anyway, what's coming out of that barrel is more powerful than a 357 MAGNUM. now that's enough to kill a gook wouldn't you agree?
I love the M1 carbine. Definitely the handiest gun I own. I love shooting it.
I've never used it hunting, but I would expect that it works best under 50 yards. Accuracy starts to get a bit iffy past 100 yards -- especially compared to Rem 700, M1a, Springfield, Garand, Mauser, etc.
For hunting, I want to be able to nail the lungs at 200 yards without worry. The carbine is not the gun for this. But I sure love it.
ronpaul2008rocks 2 months ago
I love the .30 cal. It did its job well and is a joy to shoot today. I also love the folks posting here who understand nothing about weapons and tools. "The proper tool for the proper job". Carbines are not sniper weapons. Short barrels and long ranges are incompatible. The stopping power is unquestioned. No matter what size the round, if you hit the right place, at the right range, the target drops. Carbines are close quarters weapons. 0-300 yards. SWEET!!
RETUSAMPE8 3 months ago
Well, my first impression was that the jug was struck from the side (circumventing the barriers). However, if you look towards the top of the denim in 0:41 of the video directly below what appears to be a fold, a new dark pixel (it's grainy video) appears directly below the fold and remains for the duration of the video.
Having shot various things that don't constitute as conventional targets (IE propane tanks, books, scrap wood), I've noticed not everything reacts typically when struck.
snowdogthewolf 3 months ago
@snowdogthewolf Thank you!! Yea, i have no reason to try and make this gun more of what it is. This was one of my beginning Youtube videos, if i knew then what i know now, i would have used a better camera, and showed all entrance and exit holes, along with editing the "dead space" from me jotting back and forth to the camera. But, it is what it is. I proved my point that the myth of frozen clothing stopping the M1 bullet was ridiculous and that the M1 could penetrate more than we all thought!
m1shadow 3 months ago
@m1shadow, I completely agree.
I believe the failures came mostly from those engaging the enemy well outside the War Baby's intended operating range (IE 250+ yards) or poorly placed shots.
snowdogthewolf 3 months ago
@snowdogthewolf Exactly! Maybe with winter approaching, i may try another test in colder conditions at a further distance?? lol Yea, my Grandfather used this gun in the Korean war and loved it! He did admit though, that when it came to raw power, the M1 Garand was much more powerful, and liked the fact the enemies didnt have to be so close to shoot at. I would love to add a Garand to my collection, but price is very steep on them :(
m1shadow 3 months ago
Uh, did it go through the barrier or around it? I didn't see the block or denim move at all. The water jug got pushed to the side also. A 6x6 block would take alot of energy away from any bullet. That energy transfer would make the block wiggle at least a little.
gmonkey3 5 months ago
@gmonkey3 straight through so fast it didnt shake it. I think that dispells any myths about it's lack of penetration
m1shadow 5 months ago
@m1shadow I think you're right. That video would prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the M1 can go through trees and blow up tanks.
gmonkey3 1 month ago
@gmonkey3 Would you stand in front of one?? NO, i didnt think so. Go buy yourself the biggest gun in the gun store, then go to the shooting range and show it off so you can make yourself look cool and compensate for your small penis
m1shadow 1 month ago
@m1shadow Dude! What's wrong with you? I was just sayin that it looks like the jug was shot from 'around' the barriers. The wood block didn't even wiggle. I don't care what you shoot a 6x6 block with, it's gonna move. The video is not good. Sorry. I like the M1 carbine, in fact I own two. Just because I doubt your video, you're saying I'd be dumb enough to step in front of one. What? You're nutty. I think you're insecure about your own penis. Mine is just fine.
gmonkey3 1 month ago
@gmonkey3 lmao, whats next, you going to say i know you are, but what am I? Dude, i will be the first to admit,.. the quality and long pause in video was due to my 1st camera that can record and my lack of knowledge at the time w movie maker. Now, as far as it looking like i shot it from the side... simply look at the direction the water sprayed! Im not trying to be a di*k, but i have no reason to fabricate the M1's power.. i have plenty of other guns way more powerful.
m1shadow 1 month ago
@gmonkey3 You're a dumb ass. It went through the wood like butter.
Composer1777 2 months ago
@Composer1777 No, you're a dumbass. ( and you smell like feet)
gmonkey3 1 month ago
i had one and found its range and penetration to be just fine. i studied the bullet and found that it has the energy of a 44 magnum at close range and with practice and if you stay calm it is accurate against a man sized target a city block away. the french in vnam found it excellent in penetration. us problems in korea mainly due to lack of practice and inexperience. also some crappy ww2 surplus ammo. modern rounds kick butt. id rather have this than most smg in open country.

@Rayic30 it goes through it no problem i have one and it can go through it cleanly
polutch11 9 months ago
Mine has killed multiple deer. Even out at a couple hundred yards. It is no high powered rifle, but I think it is in no doubt a great self defense round.
smashcars 10 months ago
I think the problem with the 30 carbine was that it became underpowered at range. I feel this is due to its relatively light 30 cal bullet that has a round nose and a flat base. It must of had the ballistic coefficient of a brick and a the trajectory of a shuttlecock. But it was never designed to be a long range gun. I have heard that the M2 version was very sought after in vietnam where there was a lot of close range jungle combat. Even more so than the m-16 when that came into service...
OCofthe3 11 months ago
@OCofthe3 the .30 cartrige has about the same muzzle enegery as a .44 mag. It is lighter at 110 grains but deadly at close (under 150 yards) range. People compared it to the 30-06 the gerrand fired and called it underpowered. But it will kill someone just as dead at close/moderate range
valdostastate77 8 months ago
@valdostastate77 yeah it's a bit more powerful than a .357. People normally don't walk around calling a 357 under powered lol.
SupremeAmerican 7 months ago
@SupremeAmerican Yeah its so funny when I hear the Carbine mentioned, everyone says, "it has weak stopping power" and "it takes up to 5 shots to kill someone" then Ihear the .357 Magnum mentioned, everyone's like "THAT has some SERIOUS power!" Yet, both rounds have nearly identical kinetic energy, and penetration/stopping power.
Funny how stereotypes work.
LoneWolf051 7 months ago
@LoneWolf051 Very well said by you and supreme American! Idiots w/no knowledge of gun's think just because the carbine is not as powerful as the Garand; which shoots the very powerful 30-06.. they stupidly mistake the carbine as weak!?! Yet, at 300 yards.. which is it's rated max effective range, it still retains the energy a standard pistol round has point blank! Problem is... the general idea of people w/no common sense is, if something isn't the biggest and baddest, it's no good..=ignorance!
m1shadow 7 months ago
@m1shadow Exactly, I mean the Carbine IS designed to be weak, not weak aspeople think, (no killing power) but weak as in not going through a person (something the high velocity, pointed 30-06 does) but going in about 6-8 inches flattening out and expanding inside the body, creating a massive wound cavity, because all its energy is expended in that small 6-8 inch penetration cavity, making the Carbine able to cause a much larger cavity channel than the 30-06, the 30-06 passes rather neatly though
LoneWolf051 7 months ago
@LoneWolf051 .30 carbine FMJ does not expand at all.
esh325 6 months ago
@esh325 Not very well, but I've had them fragment in a gel block, wound cavity was very large.
LoneWolf051 6 months ago
@LoneWolf051 That's unusual for a .30 carbine FMJ. The fackler gel test shows 0 expansion and fragmentation with FMJ's.
esh325 6 months ago
@m1shadow well i wouldnt call it weak,,, but it is merely a pistol cartridge... id be much more content carrying any number of the .556 carbines,, a decent AR cost just as much as one of these things now adays,, with all that being said i love my M1,,,, for shooting rabits and what not lol//
kewlneasy88 6 months ago
@LoneWolf051 i think the carbine might have a little more actually, moving at 1700 foot per second right?

WALTERBROADDUS 5 months ago
I had always assumed the M-1 carbine round to be anemic.... but watched a demo on the History Channel, comparing M-1 & M-1 carbine, shooting into ballistic gelatin.....the M-1 carbine round, if anything, made a larger wound cavity than the 30-06 round, to my surprise...would love to see a demo of the M-1 carbine, loaded with .30 sabots, and 40 gr .223 bullets.... at @ 3500 fps....

@m1shadow Check out the owen stock.. brings you in to the 21st century with the M1. Really compact when folded (retractable, not folding).
It has a really natural feel to it.
And fyi.. the M-1's design exceeds that of the mis6 and ak47 in many many regards.. and I would know.
Ugly as is.. upgraded they work well and they have everything modern rifles still lack. The man was a genius, literally.
mrtruthify 1 year ago
@mrtruthify I will check that out, thank you!! Yes, i love my M1carbine! My grandfather gave it to me, and thats why it's so sentimental.. he loves too when i take it out and shoot it! I just dont shoot it too often because of the ammo $ for it.
m1shadow 1 year ago
I love my M1's. I have an older military surplus...the stock is a bit rough but it shoots like new. I loved it so much that I just bought a brand new one made by Kahr. Sure it's not a surplus original but it's built just like the original one I have with the dissapointing exception that I noticed it does not have a yardage adjustment at the rear sight...kind of strange really. Still, as an owner of nearly 20 firearms the M1 is still one of my all time favs. Nice vid!

Shredrmk 1 year ago
LoneWolf051: Not according to what my dad said (who just passed away of a major stoke this morning, BTW), lots of guys had the same complaint. There was such a rush to get arms to "The Boys" that lots of times the quality suffered for the sake of production numbers.
LongBinh70 1 year ago
@LongBinh70 I am very sorry to hear about your dad, may he R.I.P.
m1shadow 1 year ago 9
My dad, now 91 and in a nursing home, was a bazookaman in the Black Forest of Germany late in WWII. While he carried his tube, his loader carried a carbine. If they got in a firefight the tube was fairly useless, and he and his loader would share the carbine. He would tell me that more often than not, his carbine would disassemble itself just when it was needed the most! Parts would just fly off. His weapon was built by Royal Typewriter Company.
LongBinh70 1 year ago
@LongBinh70 Wow, sounds like a defective weapon, or poorly assembled, dont know how that particular Carbine got past inspection before leaving the plant.

well the argument wasn't agains't the carbines close distance shooting but rather against its long distance performance such as 200 yards. The commie koreans were not dying even with multiple hits at distance from the carbine.
ccsniper 1 year ago
@ccsniper Would you stand in front of one,, even at 200 yards??
m1shadow 1 year ago
@m1shadow I wouldn't stand in front of a 22 at 200 yds. Doesn't mean it would knock a person down. The M1 just wasn't made for distance shooting
grizz474 1 year ago
@grizz474 At 200yds, the .30 carbine bullet is traveling around 1322fps, and retaining 427ft lbs energy,, in comparison, a 9mm point blank is 1280fps, and 421ft lbs energy! I think that should change your mind about its capabilities at 200 yds. As far as long distance,, I never tried making this gun out to be a sniper rifle, but it does the job for its intended 200-300yd max eff range. Dont believe all the crap you read about it not stopping soldiers,, most likely they were just missing them!
m1shadow 1 year ago
@m1shadow Yeah but for the price you pay in ammo and the gun itself these days you can get an sks and 5k rounds, for $1000
MrAdamRosio 1 year ago
@MrAdamRosio for sure,, i have an SKS and shoot that the most because its fairly cheap,, the same can be said for my M44 Mosin nagant; 20 rounds of corrosive surplus ammo for 5.99! I clean my guns good anyway, so not concerned about the corrosive stuff.
m1shadow 1 year ago
@m1shadow This is ccsniper on my brothers channel. NO I would not want to be down range of someone with an m1 carbine, but I was just saying that the original argument against the reliability and effectiveness of the m1 carbine was at distance and it was not as reliable in sub zero temperature. I think the m1 carbine is a great 150 yard gun but mine is not quite accurate enough for me to get good COM hits at 200 or 300 yards. I agree with you, I think the American soldiers were just missing.
deathtollguy 1 year ago
@deathtollguy For sure, i totally hear you,, i must have misunderstood you, lol. I know what you mean about the distance thing too. I agree its probably not as accurate at longer ranges than 200 yds, and max eff range of 300. Its the round nose shape of the bullet,, it lowers the ballistic coefficent,, not as accurate as a pointed shaped bullet at long range. My grandfather loved his M1 carbine in Korea,, but he said for long distance,, the Garand was the gun! I want one some day!
m1shadow 1 year ago
@m1shadow The first time I shot an M1 carbine at 200 yards I aimed high expecting a lot of drop out of the bullet. Much to my surprise the round did not drop like I figured it would. By the 3rd shot I was hitting a 1'x1' metal plate everytime with iron sights at 200 yards. I love that gun so finaly picked one up a few days ago. Out of all the military guns I have collected over the years, the M1 carbine is the one I enjoy the best.

kanukster 1 year ago
@dirtypantylover yea, if i could do the test over again, i would have done a few things different,, nonetheless, i did the 8 layers of frozen denim to shatter that myth of frozen clothing; as you can see, it went through the layers of frozen denim and 6x6 so easily,, it didnt even shake! The water jug was just to show it made it through.

However, M1shadow, I recommend that next time, you show the gun itself being fired, because some people might claim you were only pretending it is an M1 Carbine and were using something more powerful off camera. I trust you, but skeptics will leap on any little thing to keep their delusions intact.
Stritchers 1 year ago
If anyone needs proof that the M1 Carbine is more than up to the task, then they need look no further than the fact that USMC used the weapon extensively in the Pacific & the FFL used it in Vietnam with great success. Only place where the M1 got a bad reputation was in Korea when it tended to freeze up during the winter but that was due to bad gun oil & maintenance, not the gun itself.

@ howfreeru
the .30 carbine has more energy at 100 yards then a 45acp has strait out of the muzzle
you might aswell be saying
your step dad is claiming those same jackets would reflect a .45acp strait out of the muzzle?!?! lol please

Thank You!
HOWFREERU 2 years ago
You obviously no nothing about guns HOWFREERU!The .30 Carbine has more energy than a .45,, and that is a well known manstopper! Do research before you run your mouth on stuff you dont know about.
1sowild 1 year ago
@1sowild dude a 30 cal. pistol round does not have more stopping power than a 45 your on crack
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 look ate the velocity and energy of the .30 Carbine round vs the .45 round,, the .30 Carbine round wins!
1sowild 1 year ago
@1sowild dude the 45 dumps all its energy in its target to 30 gost gos strait through it like a 9mm fmj ect. if he was shootink a jhp instead of a fmj bullet than it would of done a littlr more damage but not this time
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 the military doesn't shoat JHPs dumbass, so shut the hell up.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago

FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@FutureSeal94 you im in Jersey come here and ive got a few 45 acp hollow pionts waiting 4 your punk soul so keep swiming and running because youll need to run if you encounter me who cares if your 16
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 that fine, I got a .308 168grain sierra MatchKing waiting for you if you come within 800yds of my house. The point was, I'm not some sonofabitch 45year old armchair warrior who likes to make himself feel better by putting down people and acting like a dueche who doesn't know anything. And if that's not good enough for you I'll shoot your dick off with a 12gauge and make you pick out the birdshot with your mouth.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@FutureSeal94 dude i dont know how it got to this all i was here 4 was to talk abaot wich has more power and penetration dude the 30 carbine has more penetration but the 45acp has more stopping power and im only 25 so were did this wheel chair warrior come from and im not putting any body down unless the start something so
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 I propose a truce, I didn't mean for it to get this far either. Sorry. But, I tested my M1 carbine on a quart jug of water and then later that day I shot one with my dad's M&P .45 and it did a lot less. And the reaction of a jug of water is equivelent to the hydrostatic shock which is created by the round, which is the largest contributor to stopping power.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 I still the .45, it is the king of Auto pistol rounds. Just like either the .30-06 or .308 are the king of rifle rounds, and not going to get into that debate, I like both. Just when comparing rifle and pistol round, the rifle round almost always wins just because it has so much more energy than a pistol round, unless we are talking .22 LR or .17HMR, stuff like that is the exception.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@FutureSeal94 thank you i understand what you talking about but i did some research yesterday and it depends on wether a pistol roun is more powerfull than a rifle round but on thi the 30 carbine is smaller and faster and the 45 is biger and slower so the 45 has more stoping power but 30 30 can penetrate though a lot of things and do significant damage im glad we worked this out but i dont know every thing yet so you may be right
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 30 carbine is a rifle round, and caliber has nothing to do with power, i could have a longass .22in diameter round that weights 200grains, shoot it from a bigass casing at 3000fps and have more power than a 30-06 round, caliber is the diameter of the projectile not power so shut the hell up!
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@FutureSeal94 dude i agree with you on diameter but i dont agree with you but im not an idiot i know the caliber is the diameter but all im saying is a 45acp is bigger and slower so if i had to choose 2 have one i would choose the 45 acp because it has more stopping power than a 30 carbine a 30 carbine is small and fast so its good but not best it has more penetration than a 45 acp but not more stopping power=)
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 yes, but the .45 and .30 carbine have such a difference in power that the energy that is dumped by a .30 carbine is still much greater than that of .45 ACP.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@codwawlover45 .30 carbine is a rifle round, and caliber has nothing to do with energy. look at the equation for kenetic energy E=M*V^2, do you see anything about projectile diameter in there, no, well that is what caliber is, projectile diameter in inches, .30 caliber means .30 of an inch, .45 means .45 of an inch. And all rifle round have a higher velocity than a 9mm, if you look closely and have good vision, you can see 9mm rounds as the leave the barrel.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
there are other bullets available for the m1 carbine that won't penetrate that much, those are suited for home defense and hunting, I've used the m1 garand and carbine in combat and at range under 150 yards I'd prefer the carbine, I've shot through car doors with the 30 carbine FMJ steel core and it's perfectly suited for a defensive weapon. Good video
walinga5 2 years ago 2
Where you going to find steel core 30cal. I got a couple hundred rounds of realy old stuff, 70's surplus and 24% of them don't do as what yours did. How far away? The 30 cal loses so much poop at 100 never mind beyond. Ya had to hit Charles 4 or 5 times at a 100m to stop him and he was a little guy. Does make a good ranch or farm type weapon, although I have seen body shot yotes run away. Fast fire, lt recoil, ammo is not cheap, mags are, but you can buy a mini 14 or Ak variant for less today.
HOWFREERU 2 years ago
you are an idiot!
killaj870 1 year ago
Your profile says your forty years old. Where and when exactly have you been in combat with a M1 Carbine and a Garand?? I'm raising a BS flag.
martywatkins 2 years ago
* just to clarify, I am calling out walinga5
martywatkins 2 years ago
I receive alot of comments saying that the Garand is more powerful, other guns are more powerful etc, etc, etc. The whole point of this demo has NOTHING to do with comparing the Carbine to the Garand or any high power rifle. THE SIMPLE REASON I DID THIS DEMO WAS TO DISCARD THE MYTH THAT FROZEN DENIM COULD STOP A .30 CARBINE BULLET. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS!
m1shadow 2 years ago
It acctually looks as if the water bottle was shot from the direction of the camera. Also, the M1 has plenty of MUZZLE energy, but that does not equate to ranged stopping power. It over penetrates. Every foot the projectile travels after passing through a body is wasted energy. Good for close in home defense.
sapc2009 2 years ago
@sapc2009 The whole point though of this test and demo was to shatter the stupid, rediculous, myth, that frozen denim could stop a .30 caliber bullet.
m1shadow 2 years ago
@hunting1211 .30 caliber
m1shadow 2 years ago
While the .30 carbine has the muzzle energy of a .44 magnum (around 1,000 ft lbs) , there are many other weapons much suitable for war with muzzle energies over 2,000 ft lbs, i.e. the m1 garand.
TriggerHappyLunatics 2 years ago
Indeed but the carbine is much much lighter and more suited for on the move shots
robinsonruiz86 2 years ago
@TriggerHappyLunatics this test has NOTHING to do with the Garand or any other rifles, all this demo was for is to discard the myth that frozen denim stops a .30 bullet.
m1shadow 2 years ago
Oh then i apologize i didnt know this test was to disprove myth.
TriggerHappyLunatics 2 years ago
@TriggerHappyLunatics nothing to apologize for! Actually, it would be interesting though to see what the Garand could penetrate! My grandfather used both the Carbine and the Garand in the Korean war, he said the Carbine was nice and compact to carry, however, he said with the Garand, he liked how it retained power for a long distance so he wouldnt have4 to get to close to the enemy. Maybe one day i will get a Garand too!

My grandfather carried one in combat....several men I have spoken with said in combat situations the first thing they would do is drop there .30 cal carbine and look for a Garand.
kalashnicough 2 years ago
What does this video have to do with the m1 garand kalashnicough???? The OBVIOUS reason for this video was to show the Carbines penetration capabilities, it never said it was more powerful than the Garand !

You also gotta look in the comments it's an FMJ round makes a big differnce

Thanks so much! There are so many idiots saying that the M1 Carbine sucks and it lacks firepower and all of that stuff, when the only time they have ever seen a M1 Carbine being shot is on video games. TAKE THAT IDIOTS!!!!
RE4man101 2 years ago 9
@RE4man101 Those "Idiots" are actually nearly 50 years of battlefield feed back from its users. It is much more of a pistol cartridge than a rifle or assault rifle cartridge. It is a sweet gun but there are many reports of enemies getting back up and even bouncing off of enemies.
reaperflynn3 1 year ago
@reaperflynn3 Yeah, I a pistol cartrige with a lot of damn powder! Seriously? Have you even seen what a carbine can do? I shot a tree IN HALF with one and it only took about 7 minutes! Bouncing off enemies? Dont you think thats a little... unbelievable?
RE4man101 1 year ago
@reaperflynn3 wtf??? Are you an idiot?? The whole purpose of this demo was to DISprove those bouncing off rumors! I just showed in this video the Carbine round penetrating through 8 layers frozen denim, 6 inches of wood, and a waterjug Effortlessly!! If it could do that, just imagine a person,, now, you think that would bounce off someone? Someone as dumb as you should never be allowed near a firearm,, or even TALK about them because your so ignorant!!
m1shadow 1 year ago 3
@reaperflynn3 you're an idiot, have you ever even seen a 30 carbine bullet, it is much more powerful than even the venerable .44 magnum, and have you ever seen a .44 magnum bounce of a persons winter clothing, I though not.
FutureSeal94 1 year ago
@FutureSeal94 dude honestly your a idiot just go back to what ever you were doing before you joined youtube
codwawlover45 1 year ago
@RE4man101 .30 carbine has the same power at 100yrds as a 44 mag at the barrel.
So hell yeah it's a desent round. (at least i will not try to catch it 100 yrds...)
robin6512 1 year ago
@robin6512 It has really good usage at 500 yards too though. If you put a scope on that thing, you can make it do AMAZING things. This gun is really handy especially when your dealing with varments, but it's also a fairly cheap WWII gun if your a history buff. I got my original 1944 M1 Carbine for $700 dollars at the Annual Winchester Gun Show, then I bought an original 1940's M1 Carbine bayonet for $150.
RE4man101 1 year ago
@RE4man101 I just bought meself one. an Inland 1944 for about 325$ what is a steal to be honest.
Now the wwII bayo is on the wishlist. I have a Korea one but I want the real deal.
Love the gun.
robin6512 1 year ago
@robin6512 Mine was a IBM reciever and stock, but the barrel was made by Underwood. Underwood focused primarily in barrels (That's why a lot of guns have the Underwood barrel on them) but made some rifles as well.
RE4man101 1 year ago
Its more than enough power for close quarter combat. The french preferred them in indo-china in the 50's 'cause combat in the jungle was 30 yds. or less.
pveg65 2 years ago 4
now, i love the M1 carbine, but that kinda looked fake, no offense to it but, it looks like you only shot the milk jug. please corect me if im wrong.
wesandchris 2 years ago
No offense taken, i def see what you mean, because the wood never even shook, however, if you rewatch the video, look at the direction the water sprays,, if that helps. I can assure you, this video is legit. I really do appreciate your input! You prob pointed out something other people might have wondered, but didnt ask. I might eventually do another demo, and try with my better, newer camera, and maybe from another angle.

you're right, it's fake.
Ace12877 2 years ago
Ace, your mom is fake, but i dont mind!
m1shadow 2 years ago
yeah its annoying people saying it doesnt have enough power. it was designed to be a little, portable, light gun. and anyway, what's coming out of that barrel is more powerful than a 357 MAGNUM. now that's enough to kill a gook wouldn't you agree?
spazzz64 2 years ago
Exactelly the point spazzz64! A .357 is very powerful, and yet, the .30 carbine still has more energy and velocity!
