'90 was The Mullet Cup, only I think the hairstyle was still primarily known as "the bilevel" back then.
As far as I can tell, our non-mullet wearers, from left, are Desmond Armstrong, Steve Trittschuh and Peter Vermes. (Someone set me straight if my IDs are wrong.)
Ironically, Trittschuh would sport the mullet late in his career in MLS and would be the first Yank to play in what is now UEFA Champions League competition, for Sparta Prague.
@CynicallyNaive Good memory! I'd forgotten about Neal and Luckhurst. I guess TNT thought Mick lent an air of authority, even though he was an NFL kicker and had but a trace left of his native English accent. And wasn't Ernie Johnson Jr. TNT's go-to studio guy?
The in-game commercials were awful. A smart bet was at least one goal would be scored during a break. Want to say I learned of one (of many) Czechoslovak goals in this match by a cut from an ad to a shot of players mobbing each other.
@CynicallyNaive "Remember the Italia '90 broadcasts on TNT with Dave Neal and Mick Luckhurst, and ads in the middle of the half?"
Yes! The England-Ireland game on TNT from Italy '90 started it all for me. IIRC TNT showed a total of 17 games, most of them weren't even live, and they all had commercial interruptions in the middle of play. I remember one time they had to show a replay of a goal because it happened during a commercial.
probably the last usa kit i liked.

@PeerlessPaavo They look ready to step into an 80s music video after the game, maybe join A Flock of Seagulls or something.
Indeed US soccer has come a long way. Remember the Italia '90 broadcasts on TNT with Dave Neal and Mick Luckhurst, and ads in the middle of the half?
