I know how Deputy Cavanaugh must feel. I was a K-9 handler with Richland County in 2001-02. I was the handler for a Dutch Shepherd named Athena. I lost Athena. I had to relinquish my duties as Athena's handler, due to an illness, but I will never forget the day I had to give her up. Like deputy Cavanaugh I had trained Athena from when she first came to the sheriffs dept. I saw her for the first time 2 yrs ago and the first thing she did was jump on me and give me a huge kiss.

My German Shepherd died in 1979, my father in 1984, the hurt is the same for both...still. Fargo looks like my Maggie, she was a rescue, I have never had a love and dedication like that from another dog since. I had taken her to be spade, complications, died during the night, worse day of my life. RIP Fargo.
I just wanted to let you know that I'm so very sorry for your loss. We lost 1 & 1/2yrs ago retired K-9 from a stroke my Husband had him for several yr's he is a retired Capt. of Police in White Co. Ga. When I saw this it broke my heart. Alot of people don't understand what they mean to us. I believe that all God's Creacher's have Soul's because they know thing's before we do. I believe that Fargo is with God. Talk to him cause he'll alway's be with you. We've seen Prince in our hm:

and he made it through the surgery but contracted DIC threw a blood clot and passed away... The whole story of this dog though is I had him for 10 years and 6 and half years ago I was involved in a work related injury where I was 100% disabled with a back injury and Chance never left my side...He was MY best freind, my confidant and MY partner. To suffer a loss like this I know is heartbreaking. Unfortunately that heartbreak does'nt go away right away either I am sorry to say...but just know
Sweetheart with all my heart I cannot express my deepest regrets and sorrow for the loss of your best freind and partner Fargo. I too have suffered such a loss not to this outrageous inexcusable vicious attack but all the same an attack. You see my best freind Chance a beautiful Great Dane, passed on Sept. 7th of this year. In part due to the stupidity of a malicious neighbor who through constant badgering caused him to get bloat where I rushed him to a vet hospital on Sept 5 cont on next msg.
Great K9...Great video...good job RCSD with the training...May peace be with his handler...Columbia has become a haven for scumbags...The vest program is a must...As a former LEO, we used to have to "recycle" old vest...That means throwing them away...We could use those to make vest for K9's...If they are good enough for us, damn sure are good enough for them...Tell Leon to recycle to the most dedicated ones...the Dogs...Good job buddy...Rest in Peace...

That day Fargo gave the ultimate sacrifice that only K9 handlers can understand and accept. I know that this is what we train for, but you can never train and understand the pain that comes with the ultimatet sacrifice. Fargo and his dad are brothers of mine and i will not accept his sacrifice in vane. i will miss you.
Thank you Fargo and all the other officers that have put their lives on the line to help keep us safe. Everyone here at Animal Supply House will miss you.
