  • This song became the highest leaper song among 8o's. According to Kasey Kasem, between 1980 to 1981, debuting from no. 39, it jumped to no. 13 the following week on billboard as well as in top 40's. But surprisingly this song reached only no. 3 spot. But it became one of a disco hit that year. Maybe be its because Kim Karnes's song was being more noticed for her Bette Davis Eyes that spent 9 weeks at no. 1 that year.

  • very old...but I like it!!

  • Love this song and video but surprised that UMG would put up such a poor quality video. Anyone have a HD version?

  • Damn, she's hot.

  • So cool...'80s rule!

  • I need cpr!!!!!!!!!

  • Dam right the 80's did Rule!! best time for music ever.

  • although it's a good song, I couldn't have seen it as a Grammy nominated song, not alongside some of the other songs that year, in particular, "Gloria" which also

    earned a grammy.

Ironically, this marked her last grammy nom for a song (She scored two more well deserved MUSIC VIDEO noms)

And 1982 marked the first of 4 noms for the legendary Laura Branigan, who enjoyed the success of being one of the most famous women of the

    80's - early 90's

  • They gave her the nom more on reputation than actual merit that year imho. I remember being 9 or 10 and just shocked that Melissa Manchester won for "You Should Hear How She Talks About You", Branigan was totally robbed.

  • @CharlesNigro I agree. "Gloria" was definitely a superior song on all levels. I do not even watch the Grammy's anymore. It is a joke and music is so awful this decade.

  • Thats our Livvieee. What a gal. Super voice, super 80s hair-do....

  • What's an early MTV video without a hot girl in a cage? lol Seriously, sorta fun song, thrown on her Greatest Hits 2 to pump up sales.

I wonder if this was meant for the Physical album though.

  • Definitely over the top 80's! I love Olivia, but I hope the invading aliens don't judge her music solely on this song or video.

  • Olivia has great talent and great songs but this has to be her worst song (even though it was very popular). The whole song is just a simple bass line and cheezy lyrics.

  • I wasn't a fan of much that she did during these years; I thought "Physical" was un-listenable. But I really like this song; there's something strangely dissonant about the instrumentation, also the timing of the rhythm and lyrics is full of surprising shifts.

  • It reminds me of "Belly of the Whale" by the Burning Sensations or "Birthday" by the Sugarcubes.

  • Though few fans of those groups would ever admit to liking anything by ONJ .

  • its kinda odd the way she says Heart Attack . but i love it !

  • This is the most bizarre video for that song. I love the song but i never saw this. Where's the man? lol

  • i love this song . olivia newton john is my hero !

  • I love you OLIVIA!

  • Damn!! I remember watching this on MTV in the 80's. Back when MTV played videos. I just absolutly LOVE Olivia!!!!!!!!!! (FWIW I'm 40 and single - lol)

  • If you want almost all of Olivia Newton-John's greatest hits (including this one), get her "Gold" release from 2005 on Geffen Records.

  • I have this on a Vinyl 45 rpm.....I think I paid 43 cents for it back in the day! LOL! Awesome to feel young again while listening to this song.

  • i like screamo/hardcore music and i love olivia newton-john

and i'm even a drummer, it doesn't matter what you guys think it "crap" cause no ones opinion on the internet will ever matter :)

<3 you on-j we share the same bday ;) LOL

  • You might be taking things a little too literally. If you relax and sit back, you'll probably enjoy the song without feeling bad about it.

  • Oh please. Lighten up--it's a metaphor! It's written and sung in tongue-in-cheek fashion.

  • I understand it's a metaohor, and a very bad one. It's just my opinion ok? There's nothing tongue in cheek about a heart attack or it's symptoms. Do you know anyone who has died from one? I bet not.

  • your giving me a hard on

  • i LLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...and i do me LOVE ONJ!!!

and this song, and everything else that hse has made...i so love the 80's music...i was born '90, but i think i am definitely an '80s baby at heart!!!

  • As one who has been listening to her since I was in high school in the early 70s, I like all she's done. Some of you have been corrupted by the garbage some of the "music" has become. This is original, and only she can sing it properly. sheesh.

  • Did or does this even stand the test of time? Like so much crap from back in the 80's,I say...HELL NO! A horrid ONJ song if there ever was one. And she has made quite a few of them.

  • This may have been one of the least remembered ones (I agree it wasn't very good), but it WAS the early 80's..the competition was Sheena Easton, when she joined the ranks of Prince with "Sugar Walls"...But, ONJ HAS stood the test of time...she's been around for 40 years, and is still there. Where is Sheena and others?

  • She still looks great, is cool, and is far better at this stuff than anyone today. Nobody was as popular back then, and I still have her first album I got in 74.

And the haircut I great, and would look great today. Sure beats dreadlocks and corn rolls - and she doesnt ruin her body by stacking tatoos on it. God, women have gone to hell since then.

  • Amen bro.ONJ was all natural unlike the sleezy chicks u see these days. She didn't have the fake boobs,no nosejob,no lipo,no hair extensions,no multiple piercings. She was just straight up beautiful.

  • I haven't heard this song for 20 years!.........love it! Thanks for posting

  • I remember when she first came out with this hair cut in the early 80's. It was quite radical for its time. Everyone assumed she was a lesbian. If she were...her girlfriend would be one lucky lady

  • that was probably the best haircut on olivia

  • This song was just an answer on Jeopardy and I was like, "Oh yeah, I haven't heard that in YEARS." Of course I had to look it up here!

  • What cool like like a youths fad-or should i say fade-all things including this beautiful woman change, but she's still so cool now-growing old has to be ok...you have no choice young people, right? so time is an illusion a very real one-but she is so special a performer and person today too! ((o: !!!

  • Once upon a time this girl was considered cool.

  • Once upon a time? She is still cool. Oh, i forgot, you were not born when this song was originally released in 1982.

  • OMG!! How long has it been since there's been a saxophone on a pop record? I'd nearly forgotten how much hot sax was a part of 70's and 80's music... LOL

  • mmmmm sexy!

  • I love this song and video! 5000 stars!

  • I love Livvy

  • That haircut.....was a bad descision. Whats with the kid?

  • i had such a major crush on her growing up in the 70s and 80s now with her new face lift no

  • I think Mary Lambert borrowed from this video for Like a Virgin...

  • Every time my cousin and I see this video-she always say "But I am your daughter!." From The Others. lol

  • lol, yes I think your right, The kid is driveing her insane giving her a heart attack hence why she is laying around in bed looking deprest ha ha ha, then a shot of the Kid and she's screeching "Heart attck" again (LOL) Kids can def do that to you sometimes (LOL)

  • lol I never noticed that. That's hilarious.

  • Or... She is getting her heart attack from her lover, then she reverts back to her childhood to try and escape the pain. That is when the lightning strikes her reflection in the mirror then she reappears as a child in another shot. Then she meets her younger self in a dream. "What a way to go." Then "You're gonna be the death of me." Then the child touches her and she goes to herself only to find that she is asleep in maybe another dream state. The child (her younger self) is watching over her.

  • She just looks kind of scared when the kid comes on screen. For instance, the first time she says, " Heart Attack"

  • I dedicate this song to my neighbor's teenage daughter. She's such a pain in the ass. God love her. But Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • spitting image of Helen Slater. love them both

  • She's a fantastic singer and performer her voice is soft, sweet, and pleasant to listen to.

  • Olivia IS a beautiful woman

  • Olivia was a beautiful woman.

  • and she still is..

  • is the kid giving her a heart attack? I don't get it.

  • Olivia RULES! Thanks for posting! =)

  • mousse

  • Love the mullet

  • Yeah, this was before they began to wear them kind of ratty. They looked really hot back then! Still do!

  • one of my fave songs from the winter of '82

  • seductive & sexy

  • your giving me a hard attack!

  • Thanks for stealing John Farrar from the Shadows. we still miss John and pat.

    luv/yours in irony.

    hank marvin.

  • what happened to John Farrar?

  • Since John co-wrote it and is playing on it and produced it how'd she steal it? Olivia was great but she was mainly just a singer.

    Just wondering...

  • I have the same hairstyle now!

    ha

    Great song!!!!

    Feels like HEART ATTACK!!!

  • Nice basslines!!!!

  • I used to call the radio and request this when I was 11 and babysitting at people's houses.

  • I used to hear this on the radio while playing D&D.

  • ONJ and Farrah Fawcett, the hottest gals in their day.

  • man i remember this song...gotta love the 80;s such a shame she couldnt found true love!!!! such a great woman

  • I dug this song so much more than Physical.

  • Jackie Warner? I see it

  • I don't!!

  • ONJ has been and will always be my favorite singer,I still have my ONJ albums from the 70s and 80s and they r still as popular with me today as they were then.

  • Me too. I have every album that she has ever made. I still love her some 30 years later.

  • Same here. She is one of the all-time greats.

  • I am 15 years old. I ONLY listen to music from the 90s and before. I even listen to music from the 30s and 40s. I HATE music of today and it is my time era for music. I even hate movies of today. I get into the old stuff meaning the time when talent still exsisted.

  • You're what is known as a nostalgia buff.

  • Today don´t be exist music...is sad

    The best music pop&rock was made in 60's, 70's & 80's.

  • The music was better and so were the women. Olivia is gorgeous..

  • whats the main idea?

  • OLIIVA will always rock!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how that random little girl is walking around with her teddy! Classic!!

  • I love this ONJ song!! I've had a crush on her since I was a kid....and I'm gay!!

  • Join the club ibCharmed1, I've had a crush on Olivia since I was a teen, and I always wondered, or was conflicted, because I am gay too. At least I know we have good taste!

  • This is a very unique song. I've never heard anything that can even compare to it. Olivia's vocals are great! I recall hearing this on the radio when it came out. Olivia was the hottest on the radio at the time. Radio sucks today! Thankfully, we have Youtube to for real entertainment.

  • this song has such an amazing beat! iloove it

    ily livvy!

  • The music is just so much better and upbeat positive if you will then. From today where its mostly homoginized corporate crap. And go ahead and give this a negative rating you EMO kids of today. And if you are one of them and do that WHY BOTHER GETTING POED

  • I agree 100%!!!!

now its all emo and fake synthesized crap or ghetto rap!!

  • I love you.

    I honestly love you.

  • This song is so cool. I remember that we had it on a 45 when we were younger.

  • Love his song...and I love this video! Olivia ROCKS!!!!! It brought me back sooooo many memories!!!! Lol!!!!!!1

  • Olivia has gotten up to as high as #35 this week with her "Soul Kiss" video today, 22 years after its release!!! Click on my favorites to watch it and boost her all the way to #1! We have to convince Olivia to return to her pop roots and do an all-out dance album, like Cher did with "Believe"!

  • Todays music really SUCKS ASS, bring back the good 'ol 80's music

  • I was in the midst of the '80s in high school and this song came out...and I loved Olivia. It was so hot at the time...brings back great memories. It's hard to memorialize Olivia because she is STILL making great music. UNBELIEVABLE!

  • hey huckleberry get a life ya stupid puke instead of spanking your monkey in front of the computer

  • Me & my girl we love each other.

  • huckleberryfrontal

just your name makes me want to kick your ass!

  • I think Olivia Newton John should be cloned for the sake of humanity. She is talented and hot even at 59!!! I want one NOW :)))

  • What the fuck is your problem Dr. Huckleberry Frontal? Did she not sign an autograph for you or something. PSYCHOPATH! you have been on a lot of sites with this stup message. Where is YOUTUBE's quality control. Damn annoying.

  • I know it was 1982 but it's a cheesey vid at best with a horrible song. Tied Up was much better

  • Horrible song??? Well no excuse LOL don t exagerate ! LOL its not bad actually its gives a new sound of Olivia back then!

  • HEART ATTACK!!!!!!

  • will you report member huckleberryfrontal so we can get him kicked off of youtube for his foul languange?

  • this video scares me. I don't get it. and the end is distubring. I dig the song and Olivia does her thing but somethings not right. as to the hairdo comment. back in the those days not everyone was add so a girl could have a do for longer than 3 weeks...

  • There is a child Olivia, a white, innocent Olivia, and a black Olivia, representing her not so innocent side...it is about the continuous forcefield we are in-especially in such a Situation as falling in Love-being the unencumbered and naive child, playing a "clean" role, but being a sensous being (the black one) as well. And she discovers that side at the end, being frozen...and so she finds her "other side". In the light of this interpretation most of the video does seem to make sense to me.

  • thanks..lol.

  • loved this one! at the time these were like the best special effects ever .. LOL!

  • listen the solo sax is very progresive is like rush the bass bar and the solo sax is very cool real musicians no like music from now is bullshit boring im 32 years thanx to my uncles and my father they teach me to listened good music in general any kind of music.long life real rock real music.olivia big.

  • one of my favs by her haven't heard this in forever.

  • From 1982...this hairdo is the same hairdo she had in Two of A Kind with Trovolta. How interesting.

  • yes, cause TOAK was filmed in mid-late 82 (which is why it premiered in mid summer 83), as it takes around 1 year to make a film lol. But by late 83, (esp by the TOF and LODT videos) she already ditched the mullet cut for a more mid 80s bobbed up, modern, hairsprayed look. :)

  • So nice it gave me a heart attack LOL!

  • çok iyiii

  • OMG! I havent heard thi in YEARS! Thanks for this...

  • Thanks for posting this video! It's a shame that I never her this song on the radio along with her other big hits like "Make A Move On Me" and "Twist Of Fate"!

  • I agree - "Heart Attack" and "Make A Move On Me" are two of my favorite Olivia Newton-John hits - female 'singers' of today (yes, I mean YOU Britney!) could take some hints from her, and she is one hellva lady for her fight with breast cancer!

  • like the song.....

    happening lo...

  • I have this on her greatest hits CD.

  • You can buy it on DVD! ONJ Gold Volume II

  • my friend gino is the one who will give me a heartattack, this songs lyrics r about he and i. its how i feel about him....
