  • oh my god his neck

  • This was my first "classical music" I ever listened to with full concentration, thanks to our teacher for music. Unfortunatelyx he died to early in a motor cycle crash.

  • hahahahaah the woman flute like a fool

  • the BWV number is wrong, the BWV 1060 is the C minor concert for 2 Harpsichords and strings (one of my favorites by the way ^^)

  • @necrotemor

study and then make comments, the number is correct.

  • @necrotemor Not true.

  • @necrotemor >the BWV number is wrong,

Note that the number is BWV 1060R where "R" stands for "reconstruction".

  • C'est mieux,que 3ème mouvement!!!!

  • They play a lot!!!!! Simply fantastic!

  • e io taccio, estasiato

  • Perfect!. I love it! :)

  • Perfect!. I love it!

  • I really like this faster version. Does anyone know where I can find a higher quality (audio) recording of this performance?

  • @Edootjuh

Listen to this music with Trevor Pinnock.

    You tube - Bach - BWV 1060

  • Great

(but try to avoid the following movements)

  • @IlIlIlIlIIlI Why...? 3rd movement is awesome...

  • This is fabulous - thanks!

  • I thought partitia is great, but this is just better from bach.

  • AS much as I enjoy this rendition (& I *really* do) I prefer the ones where its played just a tad slower. I know it may seem pedantic, but that slight reduction in tempo really brings out the juxtaposition between the oboe & violin. Do try & seek out other versions & hopefully you'll see what I mean :)!

  • @NymphetamineVille Seriously-a 6 y.o violin student learning the Suzuki Method could make Andre Rieu look bad. Rieu's great skill is in mass marketing, not musical talent! He is the Musack of the classical music world-only slightly more grating!

  • I always thought something is missing with Andre Rieu. After looking at Nigel Kennedy, I finally know. Thanks for pointing it out!

  • @walkingon2001 What would that be-musical talent? ;)

  • @walkingon2001 What would that be-musical talent? ;)

  • @MrHicks091 yup, can't agree less! I really hope to attend one of his concerts live.

  • o my gosh, this is beautifully played, I nearly cried!

  • This is an absolutely spot-on performance. I am intimately familiar with this piece and by far this is the best rendition I have heard to date.

  • I listened to this last night...

    it was so beautiful! *_*

  • that version is a transcription of the violin/oboe double concerto that bach included with his series of keyboard concertos. So, this version is the original.

  • whats the deal with this concerto? Searching for the sheet i found several "bwv 1060" but they´re concertos for TWO CEMBALOS AND STRINGS, and the music is the same, but with both cembalos playing trebble and bass clef (chords and melody)

So wth? who made the arrangement for violin and oboe? when did this version became popular?

  • inculte

  • you are ;)

  • 1060 is a double harpsichord concerto. Most likely, this arrangement came into being from the double violin concerto manuscript (now known as 1060R), which almost assuredly existed in an original form (as Bach, and composers of that time rarely wrote double concertos with opposing instruments - the said Oboe/Violin Concerto). We also have to remember the cataloguing came AFTER Bach and is a modern system. That being said, it's a nice version.

  • you automatically fall in love with that wonderful music: "when angels praise god, they play Bach, but in their spare time they play Mozart."

  • hmmm. and beethoven

  • Love both!

    Amazing!

  • ever since i began playing violin in the 3rd grade i have always sped songs up in my practice. i'm happy to see i'm not the only one who loves to do this and loves to hear the music this way. i just wish i was as good as mr. kennedy.

  • great piece, thank you!

  • 1:00

  • I got the C minor version and sounds greeeat, D minor sounds screechy on violin

  • Magnifique, wonderful, ausgezeichnet

  • Thank you for sharing the beauty of this marvellous music and video.

  • I played this at a competition this morning--we got the best score possible, but that's not the point. The judge said that we had a good interpretation of the piece. Haha. We basically copied the dynamics and stuff from this video.

  • I like this movement at this tempo. I have no problem with it. I do however have a problem with their 2nd and 3rd movements. They were definitely way too fast.

  • Bach is awesome

  • @ugahur violin vs oboe

  • At this tempo, it sounds like a bit like Vivaldi -not a bad thing, in my judgment.

  • this is more than music. it is hard to explain what i feel, i just know this is real. while listening to this composition, i am actually flying into a star. simply enjoying.

p.s. yes, its supposed to be this fast, why not.

  • holy crap is this supposed to be this fast?

  • It's just faster than you expected. Bach never fixed any speeds anyway. Just take it as another interpretation. Perhaps after a while, you might get used to this speed and perhaps appreciate variety. :) Cheers.

  • i swear this is meant to be in c minor, sounds like d minor to me

  • it is not meant to be in c minor in fact i guess you are from USA but if you see most of the preformances are in d minor in Europe and world so... and it really sounds better in D

  • A) i am from the UK

    B) Bach wrote it in C minor

    C) I have played it in C minor

  • you are right ! I have the c minor on sheet music. I hear it more these days in d minor. Strange.

  • weird. mine is in D minor.

Are you sure you don't have an arrangement?

  • completely sure

  • the only thing i do not care for about the c minor version is ending on nasty (for the oboe) middle c at pretty much every cadence. for that (entirely selfish) reason alone, i prefer d minor... also easier for violinists as there are less flats.

  • I don't have an arrangement, it's the original i'm sure!

  • For someone with a reputation for being "out there", Nigel Kennedy's playing is all class in this concerto. The oboist is fabulous.

  • I call this class

  • lindo....apaixonante.

  • beautiful~!

  • lovebachlovebachlovebachlovebachlove...

  • ....

    :)

  • metooemtooemtooemtooemtooemtoo

  • This is beautifully performed...Nigel Kennedy is a great violinist .... I saw him perform Elgars Violin Concerto Last night on BBC2 at the Proms .... Remarkable performance it was !!!

  • Great job, except for the added doop-dads on the oboist's part. I love her sound, but I hate doop-dads with a passion! The composer didn't need any help writing the score!

  • What you call "doop-dads" are called ornaments, which are a natural feature of the Baroque landscape. The fact that the composer didn't write in an ornament is not evidence that he did not intend one to be played.

  • I was about to say that all Nigels are freaks, but then I forgot about Sir Nigel Gresley the British designer of first class steam locomotives.

  • the man who turns all things bach into irish jigs

  • LOLOL! You're killing me here!

  • I speak to truth. Playing Bach at a uniform faster than cultural tempi simply has the effect of uniforming the music away from its artistic merit. While the technique of the artists and orchestra is to be admired, where is das kunst!

  • die Kunst

  • If you hate it so much, why watch it?

  • its german idiot

  • Love both! but because I´m oboist too, I love her! fantastic, amazing!

  • Tolle Musik, tolles Duett, tolles Orchester, tolle Akustik. Einfach alles da für ein Super Konzert!

  • IT'S SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!

Many thanks to my friend Alban from Canada

for sending it to me :)

    LOVE TO YOU!

  • Thank you Nat - very much !

  • totally rockin' !

  • super

  • Wunderschön, kein Kommentar!

  • omg amazing!!!

  • Thanks for posting!
