This was my first "classical music" I ever listened to with full concentration, thanks to our teacher for music. Unfortunatelyx he died to early in a motor cycle crash.

the BWV number is wrong, the BWV 1060 is the C minor concert for 2 Harpsichords and strings (one of my favorites by the way ^^)

AS much as I enjoy this rendition (& I *really* do) I prefer the ones where its played just a tad slower. I know it may seem pedantic, but that slight reduction in tempo really brings out the juxtaposition between the oboe & violin. Do try & seek out other versions & hopefully you'll see what I mean :)!

@NymphetamineVille Seriously-a 6 y.o violin student learning the Suzuki Method could make Andre Rieu look bad. Rieu's great skill is in mass marketing, not musical talent! He is the Musack of the classical music world-only slightly more grating!

that version is a transcription of the violin/oboe double concerto that bach included with his series of keyboard concertos. So, this version is the original.

whats the deal with this concerto? Searching for the sheet i found several "bwv 1060" but they´re concertos for TWO CEMBALOS AND STRINGS, and the music is the same, but with both cembalos playing trebble and bass clef (chords and melody)

So wth? who made the arrangement for violin and oboe? when did this version became popular?

1060 is a double harpsichord concerto. Most likely, this arrangement came into being from the double violin concerto manuscript (now known as 1060R), which almost assuredly existed in an original form (as Bach, and composers of that time rarely wrote double concertos with opposing instruments - the said Oboe/Violin Concerto). We also have to remember the cataloguing came AFTER Bach and is a modern system. That being said, it's a nice version.

ever since i began playing violin in the 3rd grade i have always sped songs up in my practice. i'm happy to see i'm not the only one who loves to do this and loves to hear the music this way. i just wish i was as good as mr. kennedy.

J'ai écouté de trés nombreux enrgistrements de ce concerto et il n'y a rien à faire cette version est la meilleure qui existe. On y retrouve toute la force, la puissance, la beauté et la majesté de Bach. Les autres versions sont soit trop "gnangnantes", soit à coté de la plaque. Toutes mes félicitations. C'est sublime.

I played this at a competition this morning--we got the best score possible, but that's not the point. The judge said that we had a good interpretation of the piece. Haha. We basically copied the dynamics and stuff from this video.

I like this movement at this tempo. I have no problem with it. I do however have a problem with their 2nd and 3rd movements. They were definitely way too fast.

It's just faster than you expected. Bach never fixed any speeds anyway. Just take it as another interpretation. Perhaps after a while, you might get used to this speed and perhaps appreciate variety. :) Cheers.

the only thing i do not care for about the c minor version is ending on nasty (for the oboe) middle c at pretty much every cadence. for that (entirely selfish) reason alone, i prefer d minor... also easier for violinists as there are less flats.

Great job, except for the added doop-dads on the oboist's part. I love her sound, but I hate doop-dads with a passion! The composer didn't need any help writing the score!

What you call "doop-dads" are called ornaments, which are a natural feature of the Baroque landscape. The fact that the composer didn't write in an ornament is not evidence that he did not intend one to be played.
