  • very hard piece yet she have done it well.

  • Why does she have to act like a nerd? There is not much artistry in that. she may be smart, but music is an art. Art of sound is usually accomanied by other artistic sensibilities, so please do away with the obscene head movements. The musical quality isn't far behind the body movements, in other words, the music is almost as ugly as the body suggests. Yet I still give it a like because I know it is technically challenging.

  • uggghhhhhh why the glissandos??? >.<

  • horrible

  • from 3:21-END!

what the fuck! this is not HUMAN.

  • La versione Liszt-Busoni è orribile! Inutilmente appesantita... con complicazioni assolutamente inutili (ci sono passaggi analoghi alla versione originale, ma con le mani incrociate).

Molto meglio quella "Liszt-Busoni-Horowitz" e ovviamente quella "Liszt".

0:54 la versione originale e quella di horowitz esprimono potenza con leggerezza..queste duine in due quarti sembrano massi che cadono da un monte!

    0:40 passaggio troppo "forzato"

1:38 i glissando sporcano inutilmente questi arpeggi "volanti"

  • @massimiliano123123 Sono perfettamente d'accordo.

  • Those glissandos are so surprisingly appropriate here!!

  • Wow.. impressive playing. I dont know if i go for the actual song though. To me it seems as if its more a piece played to say 'look what i can do,' not for the actual beauty of the music. The hardest pieces arent always the best. lol thats my opinion (as always truely outspoken).

  • Wow.I like Busoni's ideas. Busoni did wonders with bach but not here really.Liszt stillis more interesting version. LICAD knows more and has accomplished more than any of u wanna be experts.

  • Since when did Busoni have anything to do with the composing of this piece? Have I missed something? Busoni was a great composer, but sadly also great at messing up other composers works for no other purpose than to show off his technical ability - which everyone knew, and still knows, he had anyway.

  • What the hell she's doing at 1:10?? Riding a horse????

  • Don't ask !!!

  • Muahahahahh! I will not ask, but I can imagine! ;-)

  • Riding a horse???? Yes. It's the Mephisto Waltz. One of the four horses of the Apocalypse n'est pas.

  • i am not a liszt big fan. too many notes... prefer schumann, prokofiev etc...

  • Very expressive playing. The phrases are beautifully molded, etc. But why this TRANSCRIPTION when Liszt's original is so much more attractive? It's an ODD choice for a first-rate artist. Busoni -- great master that he was -- does nothing to enhance the allure of Mephisto. In fact he dims it considerably.

  • Ranks right up -- er, I mean down -- there with Lang Lang. A lot of noise, not very much music.

  • you want to listen to music? may I suggest Karen Carpenter? and plz,, she has way bigger balls than Lang 2

  • I understand why you would want to promote KC since she is your favorite "artist" but my musical preferences are rather different from yours, something your are apparantly ill-equipped to deal with.

  • your musical preferences is as sophisticated as a teenager.. nothing to hoot about

  • aha! found you again raving about licad, you got the hots for her my son! look at voldos, argerich hamilton if you want piano music with depth

  • Dear Mr Space Guy, Please go listen to preformances by Lipati, Lhvinne, and Backhaus, to name just a few. Try Kissin or even Lugansky if you want contemporary. If you can't hear the difference with Licad's Mephisto, then I'm afraid YOU are lacking sophistication. For the record, I liked Licad's younger performances. But she's become a self-absorbed show piece in her old age. Too bad, so much talent wasted.

  • Hear, hear! Great gymnastics. But who's playing the background piano music?

  • i guess you don't appreciate music..

  • Dear Shut,

I guess there's only ONE TRUE interpretation of music in your self-satisfied view.

  • I didn't know there were glissandos in this piece. This approaches even the Horowitz performance in virtuosity, but it is great to see someone of her calibre play it live.

  • i like the interpretation

  • When I first heard this, i did not understand. Maybe because of the pianist. But now, i quite understand it well.

  • UNE D E E S  S E GENIAL+++++

  • Outstanding!

  • great musicality and technicality...bravissimi

  • Bravissimo!! I like very much this Busoni trancrisption is as good as lizt's original, and i like very much the way as she play, that energy and all that she feel at the moment when she is playing the song its all fascinating, i'm learning that transcription and its very difficult for me, more than the original but i'm trying.Congratulations Cecile Licad!!!

  • Not at all. This is Busoni's transcription (or version, if you like) of the Liszt original, so the texture sounds different. Good one.

  • she mess up this piece...-_-"

  • Amazing playing!

  • Bravo!!!

  • very nice!

  • cazzo se suona!!!!!!

  • きも!!

  • Licad is the best reason why the piano exists.

  • Once again, Licad shows herself to be fluent, clean-fingered, elegantly delicate where required, and able to invest this music with fine nuances of tone and pace. Bravo Licad! Mabuhay ang Pinoy!!!

  • Check out her Tchaikowsky - Piano Concerto no. 1 here in youtube.

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!

Is the first woman that I've heard playing this piece.

    She is amazing pianist!!

  • I wish she makes a recording of Hungarian Rhapsody #2. It doesnt have to be live since I heard it is humanly impossible to play.

  • It's not very difficult at all.

  • Hungarian Rap#2? Well not difficult to learn sure. I tried it 20 yrs ago or so. To play perfectly is another matter. I did have a record of it somebody playing perfectly. I don't remember the pianist as I was too young and didn't really care about pianists as much as 'music'. The last two pages could be hellish to play atempo.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! She reminds me of Horowitz style hehe.
