  • How the heck do you lug that thing to a gig?

  • Sounded great. Nice imitation Hammond sound there. Nice work on an old classic.

  • i want a vintage hammond b3 not a new digital boring lowrey

  • @hiian123

After all these years in the music industry, I still don't understand why amateur musicians feel compelled to offer their opinion as to why they wouldn't own or play a particular piece of equipment. Who gives a rats hind end what you think? You're not playing the gig, you aren't even involved so your opinion really doesn't matter. LMAO.

  • It would be better to buy a previously used Lowrey organ than pay the price of a new Lowrey as it will depeciate so fast as it is the worst invenstment unless you plan on keeping it for a life time. The best investment is the Hammond B-3 and external Leslie 122 as they always keep their value! But Lowrey organs are more fun to play on than any organ!

  • I used to own a Lowrey - in fact, via trade-ups, SIX Lowrey models ending with the C500 (Celebration), a console with heavy-duty theatrical styling. However, when they went to the MX series, I stepped away because they overdid the automation. You had to make the darned thing brain-dead to play anything other than the crazy arrangements they had preset into the instrument. I am now a Technics person. Sad that they no longer make consoles.

  • @kegginstructure

Wow. The last Lowrey was a C-500? Moses' grandmonther played that at his wedding. Automation? You can turn that off. It's the same thing with Technics, Yamaha, Roland, etc. They are all the same. All it takes is knowledge of how to use them.

  • I have no clue is this is a decent organ or not, but alas! A proper control panel! It harkens back to the days of ELP and the Yamaha GX1.

As the lord and scholar Keith Emerson denoted in a recent interview, keyboarded instruments are meant to be performed, not just played!

  • This thing costs 85,000? No instrument is worth that. You could hire a band to come and play with you for an almost indefinite amount of time for that money, and still have money left over for a real B3 and leslie. I mean, unless the one man band thing is you schtick, honestly though, I think its pretty tacky. Be it an organ like this, or an arranger. Rather have a B3, Rhodes and Moog any day.

Oh, and the great thing about real B3's? They actually sound like a B3, not a digital emulation.

  • @jazzpiano10

    Stick to piano.........

  • hmmm, if only i could swap the sheet music at my church with boston..........

  • I would love to play piano or the organ, but i could never keep the co-ordination with my left and right hands doing totally different things. It is amazing watching the people who can do this. Great Job Dr.Bents!

  • wow, that was incredible!

  • Now do Baba O'Riley

  • I used to have a Lowrey C-500 (a.k.a. "Celebration.") Great instrument for the 70s, but became out of date. I switched to a Technics F-3, but Hurricane Katrina ate it.

  • I love it, "will the congregation please rise?".......hahaha......remember the Simpson's episode where the old lady at the organ plays INAGaDDADAVIDA(?) by Iron Butterfly?

  • Love it -- very nicely done.

Gotta love it the look of surprise on the faces of those who thought Tom Scholz was just Boston's lead guitarist. Life is full of surprises! Tommy is primarily a keyboardist -- since a very young age.

  • he didn't miss a note !!!! thank god for those labeled keyboards

  • sounds like the old dutch group: exception... nice very nice!

  • Only playing 6 months and you can already tell what sexual preference an instrument is, you must take lessons. That organ 1st off isn't mine, I couldn't afford it ($77,000) and 2nd, that isn't me playing (I'm not that good) And yes B-3's are awesome. Not all hammonds are awesome, some are terrible. Good luck with your playing, this one is hard to learn but not too hard. Practice practice practice.

  • i prefer hammond with a leslie. Saw Gregg Allman 2nd row and he had an awsome hammond with a beuatiful wooden leslie it was awsome! I just started playing piano 6 months ago and just got a new keyboard (Yahmaha ypg635) and im getting a synth for xmas (Roland Sh01 Gaia) and this is deffinately on my list of songs to learn. Dont like ur organ that much no offence it looks like its christmas with all those tacky lights. Hammond kicks ass but this organ is kinda gay.

  • @hiian123 Yeah I see your point:; it is a flashy thing but with all the sounds this thing has it actually needs 'em so you can tell what sound is active and what the organ setup actually is. Hate to operate it without 'em! ;)

  • Sweet

  • @superwilson25 any rock organ player should be able to play this intro, what is impressive to me is the whole piece being played, this took a lot of programing and time. Joe is classicly trained and can play organ as well as anyone I have ever seen. You see B's, C's and A's on TV because they are a lot easier to haul around than this beast, also because they are simple and you don't need 1000 different sounds when playing along with a band, the Hammond sound is really all anyone needs on stage:)

  • @DrBents I love how he seems to try not to get into it, like he is playing in a church or something.

  • wow !!!!! salute

  • awesome.

  • I particularly like the fact that both the player and the Lowrey look completely wrong for a rock band, yet the sound is superb.

Mind you, these comments about the B3 are pretty irrelevant, since the Prestige costs $85,000! It SHOULD be able to replicate a B3 at that price!

  • awesome

  • Was that Tom Hanks ?

  • WHOA, totally took me offguard when I started hearing this thing play guitar.

  • Not only is a top of the line Lowrey organ a fun organ, but this Lowrey organ is truly a professional organ too! Wow, so much that can be played, who would want a Hammond B-3 when you could have the best of both worlds, fun features and also professional features all in one!

  • Fact is, you get a B3 as well when you get this organ!! ;)

  • Absolutely stone BRILLIANT!

  • that was awsome!

  • dude, YOU ROCK

  • Wow, he rocks for sure. And on a Lowrey. I love it!

  • I don't speak German, but then I don't think the poster spoke Russian, Polish, Japanese, or English. I thought Joe presented himself beautifully.

  • Things are well. I will let him know you said hello. Glad you are doing well

  • The man has a degree in classical pipe organ. It is obvious that you have no clue as to what kind of talent it takes to manually play all the parts like what you see in the video. Your post is an example of ignorance at it's best.

Absolut tolles Instrument und sehr gut gespielt, well done!

  • BITCH-TITS THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

  • This is great. I just purchased a Serenade and wish I could afford the "Prestige" I get to play on one at my music class at Lowrey.

It is amazing what these babies can do

I am going to try to put some music on Utube myself, I play classical, pop of the 40's 50's 60's, I especially work on Big Band and Swing. THe organ has great orchestral sounds.

  • sir you just rocked the fucking house!!!

  • Wow! Amazing! I knew that Lowrey organs were not limited to old organ songs (The golden years I mean). It seems that you can do so much more with these new Lowrey organs!

  • True B3 sound from a Lowrey!! :o

    AWESOME!!!!!

  • oh my god this man is amazing

  • love this

  • This is Wicked !:P

  • does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this?

  • I have no clue, never seen any sheet music for this piece. Joe learned it by ear. There are a few tutorials on youtube that might help you figure it out. Good luck.

  • i find a cool way!!! just go to guitarpro download the programm , at the website you download the file , then you can see what you have to play!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awssome (¤¿¤)

  • i got the t15 kilowatt amp its about 25,000 dollars it almost broke my windsheald i am wondering if i can hook that up to the organ

  • Probably can do that, your nieghbors may not like it much, lol.

  • id be awsome with 20 inch spaekers

  • how many speakers does it come withe and how many watts?

  • Seven amplifiers, 340 total watts. Four audio segments: Main, Bass, Chorus, Monitor. 15 Speakers: Six Mid Range, Eight High Range, One Bass in a Tuned Port Enclosure, Includes Monitor Speakers with Independent Volume Control.

  • Haha rock on!

  • While it's hard to beat an original band, remember that a band has more than one musician. The guy in this vid is doing all the parts himself. It's totally insane!

  • a zephyrhills fletcher is around the corner from me

  • I worked in the Melbourne Store. If you can afford one then go for it. I would have one if I had the cash. Such a fun instrument to play.

  • R U A FLETCHER MUSIC SALESMEN

  • I was a Fletcher salesman, it was a great job.

  • hmm i was thinking about getting a prestige for my basement

  • wanna check out some of my vids if u do type in zacum thats the account its my friends and we share it

  • better than boston i have to admit

  • Dream Theater covers quite a few songs that are as good or better than the original. Hoagie Carmichael wrote the song Georgia, Ray Charles played that song better than Hoagie. It is possible to play a song better than the original just not common. I wrote a song and another band recorded it and it was better than my version. So shame on me I guess.

  • Sure you can. there are quite a few one hit wonders out there that get blown away by some simple cover bands.

  • wow harsh whos next to say something to me?

  • man....not fair, i would kill for that, I play this on my stupid keyboard if you want to check it out!

  • Yeah it is crazy, Joe is playing an organ sound with his right hand, guitar with his left hand, bass line with his left foot on the pedals and his right foot is a start stop controler on the pedals for the cymbals. Wish I had more recordings of him. He can play tears in heaven with guitar sounds on the organ better than Clapton can play it on his guitar..... no joke, he is an amazing organist.

  • how much is it?

  • This organ cost around $77,000. It has a CD burner to record yourself, also has a USB stick input for recording and saving settings. It is an amazing instrument and the sound are perfect. Save your money folks this one will set you back a few dollars.

  • Must watch in "high quality". What a difference! I think I'll put a link to this on your website Joe.

    Aj

  • Thanks for sharing. I LOVE IT!!!! (I'm not prejudice.) Grandma K.

  • WOW awesome job!

  • Great vid bro! Great rendition of a great band. Good choice!

  • WOW excellent

  • fantastic - had the chance yesterday

to visit a friend who has just taken delivery

of the prestige -what an instrument !!

  • That's clutch

  • This for sure is the best version you will ever hear!!! And that is just a piece of the song....

  • Awesome! Amazing sounds on that organ. Great playing.
