Of the proteus and the saber cat which would you recoment if you could only get one. I want to use as and EDC and day hiker with possibility of an overnight
Kev-I have looked into the Vuture ii, as well as the Sitka, and Kodiak. Im leaning towards the Condor ii and Proteus, because its not a panel loader, and I like to layer my kits. If used as a hiking kit I can take of the backpack and use the waist pack as a scout bag. If used as a BOB(s) I can lose one pack and still have a kit with me. I might use the Proteus as a EDC, not on me, but near or atleast in the car at all times.
Love the vids and the website. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
Kev if I can ask how tall is Corey? I was thinking about getting the Proteus with a Condor2/Falcon2 but they look like they would interfer with each other? However on the Maxpedition Condor 2 page they show a guy wearing one that looks like he would have plenty of room for both.
sublimepatriot1776 - korey is about 5 feet 10 inches tall. I think the falcon II might be taller then the Condor II. But the Condor II is larger in total volume.

his backyard prolly damn fat body didnt even have a pack on or water....hell iw alk 1 mile ever day to the corner store for beer. guess i better get me one of them fancy man bags now to...
an observation, I think it would be even better to attatch the water bottels to the belt instead of the actuall pack.
I do not know if there is any harness for it but I would say that when you carry all your gear plus 2 water bottels the weight is about right to consider it.
Always test your gear before you really use it. This is way you must break in your boots, think about the poor idiot wearing brand new boots on a long hike. Nice review.
You've been running with too many old fashioned ALICE packs. Its good to see you try out some molle gear. Take a look at TAD Gear, Eagle, Kifaru, SO Tech.
They make great gear also, even better in my opinion.
Hey, just a thought. Maybe you could loosen those two buckles that go over your pack and put your canteen under them and then buckle the straps to the other side and it might hold the canteen in. It would be on top of your pack and the weight would be equal.
I think I like corey's pack. it looks small enough not to get cought on stuff and comfortable enough to run with... just in case of a man eatting big foot or whatever
i have a platapus..its a drinking bladder that goes in the top of your backpack...has a straw that attaches to the sholder strap all you do is turn your head and take a sip of water..holds 1 gallon...they are great..
I would carry my water in a bladder on my back, the 100oz capacity camelbak is great for warm/hot weather hike. Keep the versa pack for other gear and a poncho strapped to the outside for emergency shelter.
I am an Eagle Scout and use the Nalgene Bottle, but I do have the same rig you have and it works great for me. I like it for day hikes and going to the state park on hiking trips.
You could put a one quart canteen one each side to balance it out. Or canteen on one side and food pack on the other? ALso I would connect the canteen to the belt on each side instead of the straps on the side pockets. It will wear on the pockets. Maxpedition is good aren't they?
I have never used one, but if you do any hiking with it, it will just get in the way. they may work as school backpacks etc, because you ggenerally not much walking is done. just a warning
it's a lot of money for such a little pack

You can't put the canteens on the waist straps? That's what I'd do. That or carry the 2qt on a shoulder strap.

enjoy these reviews. you can tell some people here on youtube review their kit then just toss it in their closet and never use it.
gear should get worked hard before it's reviewed!

Or take a look at SO Tech, eagle, etc.
