The Vortigaunts were slaves of the final boss of HL, he basically enslaved the whole Xen army to fight the Combine, who were themselves enslaving planets. Maybe because he's the last survivor of his race, because of the Combine. Anyway, the Vortigaunts hail Gordon as their savior, and even call him "the free man."

I don't think the guns you do get are even all that necessary. A couple of them are essentially just power creep with a lower cap on ammunition. If you receive a lot of guns with different roles, that's fine. The magnum made the pistol largely unnecessary and the pulse rifle did the same for the SMG. All that redeems them is the low ammunition, but they're still too similar to other guns.

i find this game is much easier to play on the pc because of the keyboard and mouse, i recently won the orange box at work for my xbox 360 ( i already had it on my pc) and while the controls are good on the xbox 360 version i just prefer the pc controls, but either version you get you will love it!!!

Half Life 2 is behaving strangely on my system.

On 1440*900 everything set to max with 8 AA i get 40+ fps.But when i reduce to 2 AA the game starts to lag a lot.Fps drops to 20-25.Does anyone know why?

Then it will keep crashing,Half-Life 2 is pretty much old since it was published in 2004,and it wasn't designed for Vista,which was published in 2007.I suggest you see a OS expert or if you have a computer with Windows XP then you can install HL2 in that computer.
