Take all those shots that you see flying and multiply that number by 4. Why?

Because those rounds that you see are the tracer rounds, and those (by default) are launched every 4th round or so (to help aircraft pilots see where they fire).

The series isn't ongoing, it finished formally earlier this year with tanko 10 published in Japan in April. OVA adapts from the manga (sometimes with some artistic license, particularly the first OVAS = mediocre directing and animation studio, Madhouse and Tanaka made it Ultimate).

AlucardHellsing hasn't ruined it to anyone. You can see Walter as the traitor he is in OVA III credits AND in the OVA 8 trailer. Hardly a spoiler.
