  • Still get goosebumps HH

  • Beautiful. BTW In Ireland "Acapella" as you call it is an old tradition of singing without accompaniment it is known as "Shan Nos"

  • Why would you want musical accompaniment? You have an amazing voice. Perfect pitch and beautifully rounded tones. If you are not making lots of money with your voice there is no justice.

    Please sing more Acapella

  • Shlainte! Eirinn go deo! :)

  • this is beautiful, what a great voice. I think adding instruments to your voice would not be as good. Singing like this is what music is all about. so beautiful.

  • You have got an absolutely incredible voice.

Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Beautiful voice. Perfection.

  • Ireland was the bread basket of Britain, british exports from ireland where at their highest during the famine!! the ottomans tried to bring 30 ships of aid into ireland and the british blocaded it and only let through 3!!!! It was an orchestrated genocide and its a fact that travelyn and his supporters thought that the famine was gods wrath on the irish people over fighting for their freedom.

  • On ultimate guitar

  • @sikkinixx82 I don't like them and what I have found in the past for the fields of athenry has not been correct.

  • God bless Scotland's and Ireland's relationship! forever more!!

  • @rickymclaren and dont forget us welsh !

  • This is one of my favorite versions of this song. It would be my favorite if it had a guitar backing. Happy St. Patty's day and if anyone knows a great place to get tabs for this or other songs let me know.

  • @Typo00101010 ultimate guitar . com then look up the dropkick murphys version. i slowed it down and did alterate picking to calm it down from the punk version they do. it works. i tried to post a link but it would not let me. hope you find it tho and happy playing. Cheers.

  • happy st patrick's day from kosovo too all you irish people

  • Absolutely beautiful, Molly, It gave me the willies, for sure. You need no instrumental backing whatsoever. More please! Subscribing NOW!

  • Your voice just blows me away every time!, well done, an excellent effort.

  • If I Wasnt Palestinian I Would've Wished To Be Irish

  • cead mile failte - at least spell it corretly

  • I´m from Czech republic but I love Ireland. I hope I´ll see this beautiful country soon. :) All the best!

  • nicely sung..... parkhead would have been in rapturious applause miss o'green

  • Hi Molly, this is brilliant, you have the voice of an angel, thanks for warming our hearts and singing this brilliant version for us.

  • Last names O'Green but I live in the US. I'd like to think I still have a connection to Ireland, small as it may be.

  • What is this? It's like someone took beauty, intensified it, then gave it to this woman in the form of a voice.

  • another lovely voice video!

  • Let's remember that it was the sovereign rights of property over human rights that sent poor English, Irish and Scots to the gulag of Australia, where they built a culture of equality. Transportation to Australia was an alternative to the death sentence, even for stealing a loaf of bread. Thank God for the Labour movement.

  • im irish......shit economy with corrupt government and banks draining the country...but some of us are proud...

  • @franny74656

    Same here, in Hungary.

  • @franny74656 Sounds like the US!

  • Fantastic. I don't think you need instrumentation. The photos are spectacular. What a great presentation! Thanks for the history of the song, also.

  • @MyMoppet52 I agree! Your voice is beautiful enough without the instrumentation.

  • My Oh My, what a great voice and a beautiful version of a hauntingly beautiful song.

  • You are a fine singer. Please turn off the delay effect. Or even better: walk out on the hills and record it there. Please!

  • Beautiful rendition, Molly. Thanks,

  • I saw this video first about 6 months ago, and I've still to find a better version of this song.

  • Let's talk about Justin Bieber in this video too :s

  • Who needs a backing track! A beautiful, haunting rendition of an important history lesson. Wish the rest of England would let the Irish have their dignity back.

  • @peggysyoungest you are so right in everything you said! I totally agree!!

  • @peggysyoungest wish the english would let Yorkshire, Mercia, Northumberland, Cumbria, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland & the Isles - let US ALL have some pride back - (and of Yorkshire they made a wasteland" - Domesday Book)

  • @cervusadfontes

  • @Biverix Spastic if your not from here then dont have a say in the countrys politics

  • @baronzclegend I have a say in whatever the fuck I want. I have my opinions, and this is a public space. If I wanna bring them out, I will. If you mind, well, that's *your* problem isn't it.

Not like I'm gonna go and VOTE in Ireland, but I'm entitled to my opinion on things, so I don't see what bothers you so much.

  • @Biverix

No such thing as Irish blood. Nor English, Scottish, Welsh or even royal blood. Blood is classified by group, not by birthplace or nationality.

  • @poofax56 Would it ever dawn on you that I was perhaps being figurative?

  • fuck the union jack grtz from antwerpen

  • Brian Concannon's great article on the relationship between manufactured hunger in Haiti and in Ireland (in the nineteenth century), "Eating Dirt in Ireland and Haiti," starts out with a reading of this song. "Nothing matters when you are free. Against the famine and the crown, I rebelled: they cut me down. . . . It's so lonely round the fields of Athenry."

  • Ah the land that I belong to. One day I shall be with thee.
