Maybe because some musicians tend to mature and have artistic goals. Anyone can have great technique, just do scales and patterns and arpeggios for 8 hours a day for about 7 years....but you'll still lack musicality..think about it bro. yes, we need technique, but it is just a tool, we should be goaling for expression, for sensitivity, taste, and uniqueness.
