  • Agree with @maclennan73 100%

  • Hey, AlNaafiysh, have you...taken your meds of late? Your critique...leaves me to believe that you're in serious need of medical attention. I'm VERY concerned...

  • Who the hell hates Television??? Seriously, point them out... They're morons...

  • I actually went to marque moon when i was high as fuck

  • Either my 2nd or 3rd favorite album of all time.

  • @beetlebum1990 Is a whole lot different indeed.Better instrumentation, especially.

  • @beetlebum1990

Then you're a fucking idiot who lacks a basic understanding of how music works and evolves

  • One of my most cherished rock albums.

  • (pt. 2)

REM? Pretty boring. U2? I don't hear Television influence there although I'm a fan. Felt - yeah I can definitely hear the influence, a great band, but not with the brilliant consistance of Television.

  • Comparisons, comparisons... I think you can't compare this band to any other band. Joy Division? For me they were too blantatly "dark" and no surprise/invention in the guitars. Pretty dull goth rock with some exceptions. Echo & The Bunnymen? Well, they sound pretty dated although Turquoise days is good...

  • @AlNaafiysh

"For me they were too blantatly "dark" and no surprise/invention in the guitars. Pretty dull goth rock with some exceptions."

    You have tin ears

  • When I hear this opening track I'm like "F*** do I need any other records? " Televsion were totally destructive to me, in a sense, I compared everything to them, - I thought Pixies were, "Naaah, not as good as Television" haha

  • If you knew where to look, were strong enough to push all that disco music aside -- you would find that the 70's had some real creative energy. Television was a great place to start...& then...Patti Smith...then Talking Heads..the Ramones, Alex Chilton, Deaf School, Wreckless Eric...it was actually a wonderful time for punk/new wave/alternative music. Some was grinding, some melodic -- all of it had an edge + lots of imagination. Today? I'd rather listen to my motorcycle rev up.

  • this song grooves hard

  • I am a pedophile and none of the other pedophiles i know only listen to crap like mac miller or wizard khalifa, i wish more pedophiles would listen to good music like this, velvet underground ,etc.

  • @nickdog670 If u really are a pedophile, burn in hell, you sick son of a bitch. You don't deserve to hear music like this....

  • @MARKDAVO123

If that really hurt your feelings rather than tickle your funny bone, burn in hell, you sick son of a bitch. ;) jk haha but no I am not

  • My 2nd favorite album of all time. Only Surfer Rosa tops this for me.

  • thumbs up if youre under 21

  • this song is fucking epic

  • Lloyd's solo in this song is fucking brilliant.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=93ms1G8pDkk RICHARD LLOYD "GET OFF MY CLOUD" 1981

  • check out 'not fazed' bt ride they well ripped this riff off

  • @theshoegazerartist Ohhhh...I can just make out your reference, similar....but it didn't jump out at me like some can. I do however love Ride.....they remind me of driving around south London in my car aged 17 with only 3 tapes.....Going Blank Again being one of them.

  • without these guys there would be no arctic monkeys no killers no franz ferdinand no nothing !

  • @TheAspieLord That's not a very compelling argument.

  • @MaxStirner4Lyfe hahahaha

  • That's dance music.

  • Why when every time I check out the comments section on a song video, there is always some kind of comparison from the band that is playing the song in the video and a totally different band. -sigh-

  • Television were already the house band at CBGB's when the Ramones played their first gig.

  • @BaronM Absolutely correct!! Thanks for posting that reminder to everyone! They were WAY ahead of their time

  • Julian Casablancas said that he'd never heard of Television untill he got compared to them. He said Lou Reed was his biggest influence.

  • i love them but them shit is that non duality ?

  • awesome <3

  • I have to get there CD..like NOW!!!!! LOL LOVE THEM.

  • They are better than The Strokes though

  • @agoodud yes sure .......i m sure you used to sing "this it "in the shower back in the day....

  • What I want

    I want now

And it's a whole lot more

    Than 'anyhow'

  • WE ALL FREE SPEECH OR NOT?

Freedom of speech: for those who can utilize grammar properly.

Look it up, it clearly says that in the Bill of Rights.

  • Actually the Strokes had never even heard of Television, but Television definetely sounds like The Velvet Underground plus The Stooges, which is pretty much what every one considers The Strokes to be. I'm a huge Strokes fan, and just found Television's music today... it is... Phenomenal. :D

  • REMEMBER THIS SO WELL LOVLEY DAZE

  • No comparisons, please. Effin' great. Lover of Rimbaud was...TV.

  • i understand all, i see no, destructive urges, i see no, it seems so perfect, i see no, i see no, i see no EEVVVILLLL at all

  • and Old Time Relijun. And Comets on Fire. And Bjork. And, and....

  • F1 1991 music!

  • It's easy to see how this band had such a big influence on the strokes.

  • @connorXpierce: WHO are the Strokes to cite them along with Television ?

  • @MrSKINFLICK What's wrong about saying that Television influenced The Strokes? Is pretty clear to me...

  • @flasan: Just accept my opinion that the Strokes are an awful band. Period.

  • @MrSKINFLICK That doesn't make your comment relevant. Nobody compared them, there is a CLEAR INFLUENCE, that is it. Don't mix other people's words.

  • @MrSKINFLICK Why do you hate the stokes? I personally love them and they so obviously drew influence from Television

Also, why do you feel the need to be such a condescending dick about it?

  • @adre1283 : i did not say here that i "hate" the Strokes i was just expressing my personal opinion that Television is and was better.

Get smart yerself + tolerate my opinion.

We all free speech, or not ?

  • @adre1283 Don't answer this dick, he's telling other people to get smart + tolerate his opinion, which is pretty ironic, since he's being a stupid untolerant asshole. All we said is that Television influenced The Strokes, nobody said anything about them being better or worse. Stop sending hate messages, you're just proving what an asshole you are.

  • @MrSKINFLICK You fucking moron, stop sending me hate messages. The comment area's purpouse is to GIVE PERSONAL OPINIONS.

This sad sad man tried to get me banned from YouTube by sending me some stupid video, just because I said that Television influenced The Strokes. I feel bad for you, honestly. You clearly need a hobby.

  • I was introduced to this song by the BBC twice in the space of about 6/7 years. They used it on their montage at the end of the 1991 Formula One season. I was 9 years old, and loved it. Then in about 1998 Dave Grohl did a programme for BBC Radio 1 about punk in the US, which completely blew my mind and opened my eyes to a whole new world of music - The Germs, The Ramones and, best of all, Television. I went out and bought Marquee Moon, and my life has never been the same since. THANK YOU!!

  • @donkeyjegg haha, I first heard this song on the F1 thing too. I was .. six, but I kept the VHS and was reminded of it some eight years later ;)

  • ugh this song is just weird 2 me...idk i just cnt get in2 it lyk the rest of the bandslam songs...thts the only way i wud have found this song...plz dnt h8 me!

  • @mzbookworm1021 We don't hate you. Personally, I'd like you more if you stopped using "text talk" in every sentence you tupe. This is youtube, you get 500 characters per post, don't be afraid to use all your big words!!

  • This song just don't leave my mind...

  • This is a masterpiece...The Strokes must drink from this fountain day after day

  • @fenix478 we all drink from this fountain everyday, well some of us try to!

  • @fenix478

no no we don't talk about that band here

  • The riff is kind of similar to thin Lizzy's Boys are back in town, Great song though.

  • @zicon6

The two songs are nothing alike, you must be deaf or something

  • great bass.

  • omg the first timeIheard television. can't describe it. i heard Guiding light on a radio show and I missed out the name of the group. I was like 15 years old, it was in the beginning of the 90's. i did't know that much about music but something defintely struck me there. then I got hold on a copy of marquee moon and I just loved it

  • the strokes.

  • @VegasSkateCulture the same rhythm, right?

  • Holy moly!!! These CBGB dudes deserve WAAAAY more recognition than they have received!!!!!

  • Everytime I hear this, I am absolutely amazed. So under rated!

  • I love punk.

  • 足・・ 足の・・ イボーーーーーーーーー

  • This song is sexy as hell!

  • I have to say I listen to wide-range of music and by far this band and this album were one of those special somethings. Its just so gosh-darn good it makes me pee :) hah Seriously this is one of those albums that just became a blueprint for Indie Rock, so much is owed to this highly underrated band.

  • sooo underated ,,,,,

this bad getts overlooked in the 77 punk invasionnn but a great band

  • oh i thought this wa a live performance from back then

  • dick hell!!!

  • Is It Just Me Or Does This Kinda Sound Like The Rolling Stones A Bit?

  • @bumpistheman A bit, just much, MUCH better.

  • Interpol too.

  • @kizzykan I think its a bit more that interpol sounds like television ;)

  • I enjoy those guitars very much. My second Television song. Maybe it's weird but I find this to be very relaxing.

  • I saw this in a record store the other day,I started jumping up and down in celebration, they nearly threw me out...but you couldn't blame me,my year and a half search was over ;)

  • One of the most under-rated bands ever, and I almost like that not many people are not familiar with these guys! kudos to everyone who loves em!!!!!

  • All the wrong notes in the right place!

  • @maclennan73 ahhaha

  • @maclennan73 Shit...their wrong notes sound better than 99.9% of today's so-called "artists"!

  • @6prereq Yes!

  • @maclennan73 Yeah, he plays 'off' but with a certain cross-eyed signature and fluency that no one can begin to mimic his shit.

  • I read Nick Kent's review, ran out and bought the album and the day after I bought a guitar. Total classic and hasn't dated to this day. Ask The Strokes and White Stripes.

  • MASTERPIECE!

  • Amazing and. Tom Verlaine is a legend.

  • Their music just has this weird unique catchiness to it, like the Beatles in their earlier days.

  • @Megajosh2 but this is better than the beatles :-) for mw anyways

  • This song is awesome.
