  • Looks all good to me. I can't understand why you would need a S/B generator in florida, is it because of Hurricanes or other bad weather ?

  • Actually the canister muffler works quite well. It doesn't bark. For those who don't know what I mean by bark, go find a video of a poorly muffled Lister under load and you will understand.

  • at that speed are you producing a 60 hertz wave or do you not care about the frequency

  • very nice setup bet u cant stop tinkering with it ?

i know i would be at it with the spanners all the time just for fun and so on

    also nice trolly under it

have u more vids of it or any othr sets to show

  • It actually sounds like an older 4 cylinder Toyota diesel engine. Runs great

  • How long does it run 1/2 load on a full tank?

  • What about controlling the fan speed directly by the coolant temperature?

It would be more reliable (pots tend to fail very soon), foolproof and easier for the engine (it would warm up quicker, as the fan would be OFF till it reach minimum operating temperature, without the risk of overheating)...

  • I was just wondering, could this generator, in addition to diesel, run on vegetable oil and/or methane (from a gasifier)?

  • love it, quiet, a lot of history, and from the sound its just sipping gas

  • This is a good stand by for anyone who wants or can't afford a professionally built one.

But what is needed before it's to late is clean and free energy.

From the only known research for CMAenergy . com

Which is not supported by government and authority, Because it will stop totally their income!

But we should all be entitled to free energy just as they allow the giving our permits to the destruction of OUR EARTH!.

  • Ever considered converting it to a modern common rail injection system to see not only if it could make more power, but also seriously improve the economy?

  • have you thought about using a temp switch to regulate coolant temp? That way it powers on the fan when the temp hits a point and then powers it off at another point, all automatically.

  • wonderful machine, well done

  • now thats sweet jim

  • Nice setup there. What kinds of fuel does it run? Do you find it runs most accessories and household items? You talk about some spare computer parts? What do you mean?

  • Nice project you got there. What kind of fuel does it run? Do yOu find it runs most accessories and household items?

  • how long does it take to charge one 12 volt battery?

  • VERY NICELY DONE! However, you have a big 3000kw starter already integrated into the system, I'm curious why you went through all the trouble of having a seperate starter? A gen head should work fine as a motor to start the engine too...

  • @LtColDaddy71 The Main generator makes AC current, without special windings built in it will not spin with DC connected to it, therefore no go as a starter. Even connecting AC to the terminals will not make them spin, I accidentally did this on a 300 kW V12 Detroit Diesel once, a big bang, blown diodes in the alternator, and a damaged regulator, but no spin. bummer.

  • I built a real simple automatic/manual shutoff for mine. Using a power door lock solonoid(available at any wrecker). It is temperature activated or I have a push button by the door to the gen shed. The kids can shut off the Lister without going near it. Very nice project you have there!

  • Nice Job man!

  • excellent!

  • Rocket Boy in a good way you are a nut a freak That is an awsome piece of machinery.

  • i use a motorbike silencer on my lister d can't even here it running just engine noise you could use a car backbox

  • Sweet.....nicely done indeed.

  • Lister Diesels for sale.

    oldstylelistersDOTcom

  • That's a pretty bad ass set up. I'm thoroughly impressed. With this setup you have, would it compete with the reliability of the Lister 6/1 engines? also, are you running gas in this thing or vegetable like the Lister?

    Thanks for posting.

  • i think its safe to say that this is FUCKING AWESOME

  • SIR YOU ARE A MASTER! THANKS FOR SHARING

  • lol foo-king brand

  • man don't get me wrong that thing is freaking awesome but what you spent to make that yourself you could have purchased one smaller and more compact! that thing is so cool though!

  • Solid project you can run veggie oil too wonder if a veggie oil heater could be made from the radiator. I mean once machine started to warm up then switch to veggie only after veggie oil warmed?

  • what camera did you use to film this? it has magnificent quality!

  • Cool motor!

  • Lister Diesels for sale

    wcaeaps.com

  • Is your rocketboy website still working? I'd like to see more of your work, but get a "forbidden" message when I go to your site.

  • Very well made video. Your Listeroid looks great. I plan to build one. Many thanks!

  • me <3 listers!

only, it would have been good if you showed the engine compared to a car or a man, iit looks way smaller than it is in fact.

but never the less, good video, and educational, one could use thius kind of setup to pull about on a farm and power anything needing power, from hay pulley to off-grid.

i hope it will have a long happy productive life!

  • i love youre set up i want one

  • nice engine.

  • wow exellent.

  • What's the fuel consumption per hour?

  • nice listeriod

  • How much do these engines cost?

  • nice setup

  • i would like to land one of these engines, just not sure who sells then inport clones from india... anyone?

  • the federal government has banded this engine from importation, the fear of global fake warming is to blame for this policy. be ready for more regulation on a non issue they clam will save the planet.

  • Thats too bad,

  • @mechanicalbu11

Not true, they can still be bought in the U.S. See "lobstamang" on E bay. I bought my Metro 6/1 from him

  • @slickjimmy76

possible existing stock? anyways if you have a block and no parts one can build one because parts can still be imported, parts are not considers to be an engine

  • @mechanicalbu11

Nothing to do with global warming. In fact diesel engine efficiency, means they emit less CO2 for the same power. It's NOx (oxides of nitrogen) and particulates like soot and sulfates. Standards it likely could or does meet, (it's no boosted to hell turbo diesel that needs EGR at idle/lean cruise) but since its not certified to current emissions its not allowed.

  • @mechanicalbu11 - FINALLY...someone who knows what they're talking about! All to often I've seen comments on other Lister videos not being imported because of "global warming" issues or because people think our own gov. doesn't want its citizens to be 'self-efficient'...nice to know someone knows what's up!

  • Nicely Done.

  • I am going to build one out of a Mercedes-Benz 5 Cyl.

  • What is your fuel consumption with this setup? What about maintenance? I'm considering building a similar setup for my camp but I need to figure total cost of ownership.

  • Rocketman, I am surprised at how smooth the engine runs. Normally a large bore engine on rubber tires is an absolute no no but that is not the case with yours..

  • ur genius tell about self frywheel i wana one

  • Just found this video, watched your other one with larger Lister, great job! I still can't see how they can use JP as fuel, yep- you told me that awhile ago.

Only thing I would change! Replace those tires with solid type, no tubes, no flats...

  • is that a wankle rotory engine??

  • no it is not

  • very nice. I want one.

  • Very cool rig you have there!

  • nice build, utterpower must be proud

  • What is the HP of this engine, great vid.....

  • It's rated 6 HP at 650 RPM. I am running it a little faster so it makes around 7 HP.

total power output of the genset is 4600 wats with black smoke, 4400 with clear exhaust.

  • @rocketboy911 That plus modern fuels burn better than what they had available back in the days these engines were designed.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was producing more than 7HP.

  • @rocketboy911 how easy is to make one

  • Hi,

got the engine from India, and the fan cools adequately even on a hot Florida day under full load.

  • Very nice setup and well filmed. Is the Goldwing radiator/fan able to keep the engine cool under full load conditions?

  • Yes, even on a hot Florida day. The fan needs to be slowed for all other operations to keep the coolant temp up.

  • @rocketboy911 what problems might come up if the coolant temp is too low? engine no0b here, sorry :)

  • Nice genset, and good job on the video; well done!

Did you go directly to Anand or did you get your engine through the guy in Maine?

  • Directly with Atul Patel of Power Anand.

  • nice vid pritty cool rig you got there
