I wouldn't want to go to DMZ for "a tour". There's some real shit going on there and NK soldiers just don't give a fuck. They've been known to murder americans with an axe. Google search "dmz axe murder". NO way I ain't getting near that shit.

@Komnenit You can't cross over in any way, shape, or form. Except inside the MAC building (see my other video about that) where you can cross over about 15 feet. Other than in that building, there's no chance of crossing outside, unless you want to end up on CNN news that night for causing a gun battle at the DMZ. :)

@Komnenit In 1984 a Russian diplomat trainee working in Panmunjom was visiting JSA. He bolted south to defect and a huge gun fight broke out. About 30 NK guards crossed the DMZ line into SK to capture him. In the ensuing firefight, one SK soldier was killed and one US soldier was wounded. NK suffered a dozen casualties (killed/wounded) and some captured.  Google 'panmunjom shootout mizusawa'.

my old man fought in the 24th infantry division 6th medium tank batt..he said he was at the dmz after the treaty was signed and when a N. Korean would get relieved for his shift they were so poor that the oncoming guard would get the off duty guards coat, hat and gun...talk about sad...

You can make one through the USO in Seoul. Just Google "USO Korea" and it should be the first link that comes up. Scroll down to "In Country Tour and Travel" and it has the info there to make a reservation. Trip is $44 USD. They fill up, so you need to make a reservation in advance (usually at least a week or two, especially if it's a weekend).

I don't think they do to civilian tourists. They didn't on this trip, at least. But they definitely act threateningly to the SK and American soldiers and sometimes make rude gestures to them (like the US soldiers describes in this video).

When tourists are there, you're instructed to keep quiet and not acknowledge the NK soldiers in any way. Those NK guys are crazy and brainwashed anyways, so it's just best to leave them be.
