Tommy and Eric are good replacements for Ace and Peter, but I really think they should just get rid of the Spaceman and Catman personas and just come up with new ones.

the make-up has nothing to do with who is "better"… but TODAY (now, present time!) eric and tommy are better musicians and better "fit" to be in KISS.

Anyone who has a problem with this KISS (Paul, Gene, Tommy, Eric), was never really a KISS fan obviously....and missed the point. Whoosh!!!! It went way over their head. This is coming from an original member of the KISS ARMY. I have been through every era of KISS, and this is one of the best....and it's only gonna get better.
FYI....KISS will remain long after Gene and Paul hang it up. There will be a new Demon and new Starchild.....and they too will rock!

Only in the late seventies this changed due to the money-making machine Kiss became and still is under the leadership of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Listnen to the first 3 albums and then to the last 3 albums. You will notice the fire is gone. Better to call it quits with a grand finale at Madison Square Gardens with Peter and Ace. Then the legend will continue in the hearts and minds of the fans.

Yes I have heard the whole album, from beginning to end. Not to piss off any Kiss fans out there, but why don't they drop the make up and costumes, and go out like they use to, after they offically unmasked? 70's and 80's Kiss kicks as, but this? This album sucks.
I'm really looking foward to hearing this song and All For The Glory on the next tour in 2012. New album and new costumes. Hopefully new setlist, instead of Tommy singing shock me he should play this one. And I hope God of thunder remains on the set.

Look I love all KISS grew up on it and will play it for my kids. All of it. Tommy and Eric didn't go in to KISS going I want to be an Ace and Peter look alike the got the honor of joining the greatest band in the world. If you got asked to play for KISS but you had to wear someone else's make-up would you say no?
Love Ace, but Thayer had to show him the licks from a lot of their songs when they did the reunion tour in 1996, because Ace forgot most of them! Thayer had to stand in for Ace one time when he no showed for a live gig! Ace, Tommy, Bruce still members of the KISS family!
You know why Sonic Boom is not GOLD? Because music is being shared so easily on the net so nobody wants to buy a costly CD when they can simply download the whole album on the net
I looked on Gene Simmons Website. EVERY Ace Frehley/KISS CD of original material, except the Elder, is GOLD. Sonic Boom is not. Every Bruce CD is Gold. Sonic Boom is not. That should let you know what people think of Thayer. (Not so much Eric because Revenge is up there,) People go see the show, but aren't buying the new music.
KIss is a franchise at this point in time...and you have to make certain business decisions at tomes which may not please everyone....but you have to do wht you have to do....Ace is great but he was having issues and the business had to keep on running...I love kiss...I'm an avid Ace fan however...I think turning him loose was the best thing that happened for him...When he plays other venues...He's doing his own stuff but he stills does tunes when he was with Kiss...creating an extension.
In my honest opinion, i like tommy thayer. However Ace was the man! Tommy and eric is practically gene's slaves. If gene told tommy to draw a circle on his face, he would. The ultimate enemy of the world is the dollar bill. Ace knew and created some of the rock world's greatest riffs/solos. Inspired millions. I think Tommy is a good player. And Ace is my all time favorite for everything and I like worship him basically.
Thing for Tommy tho is he can't win. Plays too much like Ace and he gets called a copy cat. Changes it and people will say he is ruining KISS classics...but he is a cool guy and this is a good song whether people want to admit it or not.
Eric Carr was the ultimate KISS drummer for me but, as much as I want to see a reunion of the original four (and that is A LOT), it is only gonna happen in my Kissology Vol.3

Kiss had success during the hair metal 80's by winning over new younger fans and by riding off their newly departed super stardom of the 70's. They were starting to slip into obscurity in the early nineties especially with the advent of grunge so they wisely put the original band back together and apeased the true fans. The new Kiss wont work in todays RnB, Hip Hop musical climate because the true fans are all 40 years and older now and most kids dont like rock music anymore....

First off, I am like one of the biggest Ace fans ever but c'mon guys, why the hate on Tommy? This is a cool song, Tommy is a friend of Ace and a good guitar player. Ace relenquished the rights to the makeup knowing that somebody else would use it.
Gene and Paul shouldn't stop KISS because Ace and Peter have other interests. They chose to quit, they werent forced. If it was reversed and Peter and Ace wanted KISS and Gene and Paul didn't, would you want Peter and Ace to quit or get 2 more guys?
Well then with that logic replace Gene & Paul I saw Kiss copy band here on Long Island the two doing Paul & Gene looked like and sounded just like them. So they can hire them and retire and still make money and Kiss can go on like Macy's.

I personally think Tommy is a great guitarist, but he deserves his own identity. @grassisgreen99 I admit, I went through a phase of wanting the original Kiss back in action, even after seeing the current lineup again last year on the Alive 35 tour and having an absolute blast. I wanted so bad for Ace to come back. But they're all happy doing what they're doing now, and who am I to wish them anything except total happiness? And Sonic Boom is really good! I listened to it in my car today for the millionth time, and I can't find fault with it. It's better than Psycho Circus.
@lovegungoodfun I dunno. I was going through a lot of personal problems at the time and ended up in therapy for it. And during that time I'd listen to that album a lot. It reminds me of a lot of bad times. I think that's why I don't like it all that much.

A "real KISS fan" is applies to anyone who can honestly cite KISS's music as a part of his/her life. Ace isn't whining about it. He WANTED to leave the band. @sjdss Sorry, there was only ONE tour marketed as a "Farewell" tour. KISS did tour after the Farewell tour, but NEVER once marketed it as a Farewell tour. Farewell Tour 2000-2001, World Domination Tour 2003, and Rock the Nation Tour 2004. Ace Frehley made his own choice to leave the band. You can find interviews with Ace, and even Paul and Gene stating the same thing. He was not fired in 1980. He left because yes, KISS had waned from the original hard rock by 79-80 and became Rock/Pop Icons

In some pics Tommy looks so much like Ace, it's amazing. By my count, I've seen KISS in concert 9 times. 4 times with Ace, 4 with Tommy, and only once with Bruce Kulick. The show in 1993 with Bruce is the only time I saw KISS without their make up and costumes! My first one was the Destroyer tour! September 6, 1976!

Look I love all KISS grew up on it and will play it for my kids. All of it. Tommy and Eric didn't go in to KISS going I want to be an Ace and Peter look alike the got the honor of joining the greatest band in the world. Love Ace, but Thayer had to show him the licks from a lot of their songs when they did the reunion tour in 1996, because Ace forgot most of them! Thayer had to stand in for Ace one time when he no showed for a live gig! Ace, Tommy, Bruce still members of the KISS family!

I looked on Gene Simmons Website. EVERY Ace Frehley/KISS CD of original material, except the Elder, is GOLD. Sonic Boom is not. Every Bruce CD is Gold. Sonic Boom is not. That should let you know what people think of Thayer. (Not so much Eric because Revenge is up there,) People go see the show, but aren't buying the new music.

KIss is a franchise at this point in time...and you have to make certain business decisions at tomes which may not please everyone....but you have to do wht you have to do....Ace is great but he was having issues and the business had to keep on running...I love kiss...I'm an avid Ace fan however...I think turning him loose was the best thing that happened for him...When he plays other venues...He's doing his own stuff but he stills does tunes when he was with Kiss...creating an extension.

In my honest opinion, i like tommy thayer. However Ace was the man! Tommy and eric is practically gene's slaves. If gene told tommy to draw a circle on his face, he would. I think Tommy is a good player. And Ace is my all time favorite for everything and I like worship him basically.
Thing for Tommy tho is he can't win. Plays too much like Ace and he gets called a copy cat. Changes it and people will say he is ruining KISS classics...but he is a cool guy and this is a good song whether people want to admit it or not.

Eric Carr was the ultimate KISS drummer for me but, as much as I want to see a reunion of the original four (and that is A LOT), it is only gonna happen in my Kissology Vol.3

Kiss had success during the hair metal 80's by winning over new younger fans and by riding off their newly departed super stardom of the 70's. They were starting to slip into obscurity in the early nineties especially with the advent of grunge so they wisely put the original band back together and apeased the true fans. The new Kiss wont work in todays RnB, Hip Hop musical climate because the true fans are all 40 years and older now and most kids dont like rock music anymore....

First off, I am like one of the biggest Ace fans ever but c'mon guys, why the hate on Tommy? This is a cool song, Tommy is a friend of Ace and a good guitar player. Ace relenquished the rights to the makeup knowing that somebody else would use it.
Gene and Paul shouldn't stop KISS because Ace and Peter have other interests. They chose to quit, they werent forced. If it was reversed and Peter and Ace wanted KISS and Gene and Paul didn't, would you want Peter and Ace to quit or get 2 more guys?

Wow, Almost the entire song is just made up of other bands song titles. I admit i'm an old school Kiss fan, but i have given all the members a chance. I personally think Tommy is a great guitarist, but he deserves his own identity. I know why it was done, because of contracts written requiring all 4 original Kiss "Characters" but that tour is over now, give Tommy and Eric there own makeup! Alot of fans are not happy about Ace and Peters makeup being used like this and it just seems wrong to me.

@grassisgreen99 I admit, I went through a phase of wanting the original Kiss back in action, even after seeing the current lineup again last year on the Alive 35 tour and having an absolute blast. I wanted so bad for Ace to come back. But they're all happy doing what they're doing now, and who am I to wish them anything except total happiness? And Sonic Boom is really good! I listened to it in my car today for the millionth time, and I can't find fault with it. It's better than Psycho Circus.

@keyblok I have to disagree with that. I've been a KISS fan since 1974 and I've seen them many, many times. KISS in the 80's and 90's, pre-Reunion, were incredible. The make-up has nothing to do with the music. In make-up or out, KISS is a force to be reckoned with.

I love the original KISS and think they are by far the best but that doesn't mean you have to give every other member in the band krap because Peter and Ace left or got kicked out. If you had the chance to join KISS you would be ecstatic and would not hesitate so don't put them down because they aren't original. I mean, I loved Ace when he was with the band and he's done respectably well as a solo artist, but someone has to fill his shoes. @sjdss Sorry, there was only ONE tour marketed as a "Farewell" tour. KISS did tour after the Farewell tour, but NEVER once marketed it as a Farewell tour. Farewell Tour 2000-2001, World Domination Tour 2003, and Rock the Nation Tour 2004. Ace Frehley made his own choice to leave the band. You can find interviews with Ace, and even Paul and Gene stating the same thing. He was not fired in 1980. He left because yes, KISS had waned from the original hard rock by 79-80 and became Rock/Pop Icons

So, might as well have a drummer that can actually drum, and not pull hissy fits back stage. As For Tommy, he's much more reliable than Ace. Ace CAN play when he want, but is so unpredictable. I watched a vid of Ace doing "Deuce" in '09. All I can say is YIKES. Watch Black Diamond, when Paul sings the entire song (Ed Kannon on drums) Ace sounds horrid

In some pics Tommy looks so much like Ace, it's amazing. By my count, I've seen KISS in concert 9 times. 4 times with Ace, 4 with Tommy, and only once with Bruce Kulick. The show in 1993 with Bruce is the only time I saw KISS without their make up and costumes! My first one was the Destroyer tour! September 6, 1976!

Not many bands have there original lineup, so i really don't see why KISS not having theres is such a big deal.

lol... stop bitching about ace frehley and peter not being with the band... they both quit because of drinking issues, yeah they are the original line up.. but so what? things change... change with it.. at least we still have a KISS BAND.
