  • I wish the beeb could make a program with more substance than style for once. Though interesting, this program could do without the multiple camera angles and awkward play acting.

  • That is just so wrong...

  • What if.....we define the largest number as being that number which can be quantified..or to which there is substantial evidence that this number of things exist... then we would have... a largest number!

  • @howlifebegan You can choose for a highest number but than it would be simply a trick for the mind.

Its like choosing a higher number where society will end counting.

But in reality this counting cant stop.

So if we define something being a highest number we are playing as rulers of nature and say we stop researhing here en the the line will end here.

  • infinity - infinity = reality, grow up

  • 9:41 trollface!

  • This explains why the universe is expanding, because it is infinite. This hotel thought experiment is really a concept of expansion which results in the birth of a new space, it's the expansion that makes it possible for the new guest or guests to exist there. And according to science the universe is constantly expanding and always has been since our theory of how that expansion started. If this shows expansion is characteristic of infinity and the universe is expanding, it could be infinite.

  • Hah, so like Horizon to take Graham's technical explanation of his number and only show blurred snippets of it with airy music in the background.

  • 3 to the 3 to the 3 to the m - 1... Someone should make a remix of that...

  • "It can be anything you like" best part.

  • Graham gets off about how big his number is

  • When I think of infinity and try to comprehend it, it'll always gives me headaches...

  • WHat's the biggest number? 10? lmao

  • how is infinity - infinity = 1 or 3 or anything I like?

  • @BleedingMetalz

i think what he ment was.. Infinity - (Infinity-1)= 1. But infinity minus 1 is still infinity... thats why he simplified it to infinity..

  • that guy checked in infinty times

  • Is there a smallest unit of space?

  • @Guitareben yep

  • the kid who said 10 was the biggest, pretty clever imo

  • Nothing = 0, something = 1, and 1 divided by 0 = Infinity thus 0 x Infinity =1, thus eternal nowhere which it must be because it has no something around it is 0 x Infinity yet it equals 1 thus infinite nothing can create 1 something.

  • maybe infinity is like the god of numbers, infinity watches over not just our finite number line but atlernative finite number lines which contain numbers so different than our universe does yet exist in other realms of reality, and that they have infinitely different properties and all these numbers are inter-conncected and you must take the crossways to other number lines to find the way through the maze of numbers to the infinite.

  • mathematician's should use actual Infinite numbers because using Infinity is like using finity rather than for e.g. 1, 2, 3, exc. so it would be easier to use numbers like 9999999( followed by an infinite number of 9s) for an example.

  • @Th0masWarner maybe not, because many scientists are building evidence towards the Infinite multiverse, a realm which contains an (Infinite) number of Universes and the Large Hadron collider, you know the big machine they have in Switzerland/France? they may prove this theory thus the actual existence of Infinity within this decade, so it may be real amazingly :)

  • theoretically add 9999(exc. an infinite number of 9s represented as the I9) so add I9 to 9 then divide by 2 and theoretically you reach a number in the mid realm between the finite region and infinite region which would be 1,000,000(and an infinite number of zeros) ending with 8 and divided by 2 = 500,000(and an infinite number of zeros) ending with 4, so maybe the mid region between finite & infinite is actually paradoxically closer to Infinite despite the mid region being define as in between.

  • OW MY BRAIN

  • I remember when Horizon used to be good. Then Peter Arsehole came along and fucked it all up. Started with the episode about Buckyballs. Went downhill from there.

  • infinty is solveable.it has to make sense like 1 plus 1

  • infinty is solveable

  • The narrator keeps making me jump out of my skin with the freaky black and white room and echoed sound effects. Great documentary, thanks for uploading.

  • That just blew my mind, 0:23.

  • @Xavicat14 the juggling or the narrator talking about graham's number

  • Mathematics is evil!!

  • @d4nilipe MATHEMATICS RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so is there a monkey out there right now typing out graham's number?

  • a couple of minutes into this discription of infinity i gave up trying to actually understand it and just sat and gaped at the facts about it xD

  • My brain hurts.

  • @dirtydonki That's how John Nash lost his mind.

  • @dirtydonki In a scale fom 1 to infinity, how much does it hurts ?

  • that list thing shows odds do not exist in an Infinite Universe

  • now time must be eternal, time cannot have a beginning its impossible how can a beginning be created without time? time must be eternal.

Now Einstein showed us space and time is inter-connected so with the existence of an eternity there's an infinity, in other words this means eternity exists and thus infinity exists thus time is eternal and space is Infinite, please tell me if you say anything wrong with it, cause i certainly dont notice any problem with my theory.

  • just wondering has there ever been two completely contridicting theories that are both proven???

  • this is stupidly done documentary

  • @system0system0 why do you think it's stupid?

  • your comment makes you sound stupid..so let's just disregard what you said

  • haha ;)

  • Evangile selon mon coeur

  • Does any know the Theme song running on 6.00 mins ?

  • @deejayshaz
