  • What can go wrong with the car if the induction pipe rips when putting the turbo in?

  • Man is this a bad design... They told my mom that this would cost $2600 to do? what is wrong with GM. Sounds like shes getting ripped off. What do you think?

  • 4:04 "So with this pick, im juuust *crack* Oh fucking shit not again!"

  • top mount intercoolers make a good tool tray

  • turbo upgrade without a front mount or intake? shame :P

  • @Bryanx89 meh thats what the top mount is for.

  • @Bryanx89

it has an upgraded perrin top mount

  • "Hereee comes the turboooo."

    I love Subiesports.

  • i need me one of those self unbolting downpipes and uppipes

  • this guy is the C4

  • All he shows is putting the turbo back on the coolant line and intake hose...

Doesnt show the important or difficult parts to put back on like each coolant and oil line and his methods if any...Also, wouldnt using a pick, even though useful, make a lot of cuts on the intake hose getting it on?

  • you'll probably have to tune the car after the swap right?

  • @sergsrt8 Thats what I was gonna ask. Im not sure if the factory sensors and ecu will just run the new turbo with same boost as old one or if it will run like shit or what? It may be a noob question but it would be nice to know?

  • @scottclements78 my answer to you is this. It depends on how much more boost the new turbo makes. There will be a need for larger injectors and maybe ECU flash, but that is only if you wanna make a lot more hp. If you just upgrade a turbo that will make 3 psi more than the previous then you dont need any of that.

  • @sergsrt8 not if you're using stock psi.

  • that is a stock setup.

  • this music suckes!!

  • lol nice harbor freight tools :)))

  • @TheCynsam

you would be surprised at how many professional companies use harbor freight tools. Mainly because their dirt cheap and if they break harbor freight will hand you new ones.

  • @F450Alex

I LOVE harbor freight. I know u get what you pay for but i hate seeing a body shop or mechanic shop paying 50 dollars for one screw driver. worst investment.

  • @TheCynsam It's what I do for a living. It's worth it, most of the time, to pay the money.

  • Now a video about wife swapping.

  • @rock3tcat

I'll Swap mine for a New 55" LED LCD 3D hehehehehe

  • up next, build your own 1200 hp subaru tutorial

  • Step 1 - Remove the interwarmer...

  • I didnt see you put any gaskets anywhere , do you need to put on any gaskets to prevent any leaks? all i saw was metal to metal is it true? im thinking of swapping the turbo on my WRX cus it started smoking etc...

  • @BialyOrzel777 If you look at around 2:10, you'll see on the right side of the frame a metal gasket. It's what goes in between the turbo and the downpipe. I also didn't see a gasket being placed on the turbo to uppipe but I'm sure it's there.

  • At 2:00 , why don't you just take the hose clamp completely off and wrap it around once everything's in place? Seems like ti would be less of a pain in the ass to me.

  • 1:38 "Thats the hardest piece for most fucks"

  • My record on a WRX is 27 minutes. In my driveway, with hand tools, in a light rain.

No bolts stuck, already had been apart 7-8 times before over the months before (trying out different turbos) so everything came apart easily. Having an aftermarket intercooler (which was easier to get on and off) helps too.

  • Open dumpster throw piece o shit subaru in dumpster close dumpster all done in three steps

  • @BEN1969350 Let me guess, you drive an f-body?

  • @davenow cb 750

  • @davenow let me apologize i did not mean to insult you i just cant stand Subaru as a company their cars have major head gasket problems fragile transmissions and the company does nothing to solve the issues. but for some reason the love of Subarus is almost cult like and we have customers refuse to believe a Subaru has a design flaw.

  • @BEN1969350 so your sayin subaru has design flaws, ok. so does the big three! get over it. I own an oldsmobile aurora which is probably is by far worse in the head gasket area, but i love the car. lets take the beloved gm 350, its been changed so many times due to design flaws, performance, reliabilty and so forth. putting down another motor company isnt going to make someone not want the car of their choosing. MORAL: DONT BE A DOUCHE!

  • @anubisprince36 no if i was a douche id drive a wrx

  • @BEN1969350 so if they (subaru drivers) were rednecks or hillbillies they would run a sbc 350 equipped car? not a great theory there buddy.

  • @anubisprince36 dude i ride an fz6. Ive never raced an wrx they only seem to want to race me when im in my pos 99 Saturn. im sure i could take one easy at least be able to hold a wheelie longer.

  • @BEN1969350 pos saturn?.....saturn is a decently made car

  • @anubisprince36 I agree mine has cracked bodywork and 250000 miles but there are two Subaru wrxs in town who wont race my bike witch is a twelve second ride but they always try to race my Saturn every time i run into them. I'm sure you wouldn't like these douches either in fat one was in the ditch this morning after our blizzard.i mean how can you put a Subaru in a ditch without being a tool.

  • @BEN1969350 tons of them here in ohio....tools that is... makes you wonder how they got a license in the first place.

  • @anubisprince36 How fast is your car?

  • @BEN1969350 137 top speed aurora autobahn tune

  • @anubisprince36 really that's about the top end of my bike depending on temp and wind from 135 to 143

  • Torque specs are....KINDA TIGHT hahaha lol

  • Dude I thought the guy was talking weird about the turbo but a Donkey Kong add interrupted me lol

  • what no headers? haha

  • I actually learnt more than just putting the turbo on. Thanks for the demonstration which was a really good lesson for me.

  • I'm picking up a 2001 subaru legacy for dirt cheap mint body, but has 350,000km on it, yeah I'm Canadian... ehh? lol, it's not a GT, but I was wondering what would be the best engine swap I could get for it I want it as a project car

  • Good mechanic dude there.

  • Hi sean

  • The turbo on my 900 Saab was so much easier.

  • @texadillo53 you know that son saab for ever ........

  • wow u working on subie with ur wedding ring? L33t

  • I can't even kill a 6 pack of beer in under 8 minutes. I have that same tmic it's night and day over the smaller than a bible oem one.

  • Wow after seeing how complicated that engine bay is, makes an engine swap look like cake in my crx or 240sx

  • how can this guy even speak

  • Business man to business man, why the hell would you make/post this video?

  • @beemoyo you would post this video to help people in the business of cars get a job done faster

  • What power gain would you be looking at with the bigger top mount n turbo??

  • @fozzzy1984 i hear people claim they get 500+ hp, after this swap.

  • @dilirent they lieing to you. Need a larger turbo for 500 +

  • whtas the diffrence with those two turbos by the way??? anyone pls thanks you..

  • Does anybody have any videos of how to install a BOV on a subaru impreza??? 2002-2007

    Thanks

  • @katanamast279 That is actually not hard at all. I have done it more than once, the stock Bov is right next to the top mount. Only 2 to 3 bolts hold it on and the vacuum line. basically look at everything the stock Bov has on it and put the new one on the way the old one was

  • Did he just swap the turbo in 7 minutes?

  • @TheDwill1234 He said it takes 3 - 5 hours.

  • @TheDwill1234 no he said it took him 3-5 hours in the vid

  • @skaterXboy1995 i did one today. it took about an hour in a half in the shop. book calls for almost two hours.

  • @tupaczdabest thats pretty good...looks like it would be a bitch to put back in...while i was at it...i would relocate it so it could be easier to get at

  • @skaterXboy1995 you have any idea how much more work that would be as apposed to just working in that tight space?

  • @MEAKapc i do know how much work that would be....but if your upgrading the turbo you might as well relocate it.wayyyyyyyyyyy better in the long run

  • @skaterXboy1995 I guess if you have the money. and while your at it your might as well run an externally gated setup. but again, if you have a turbo that fits right up its much easier to squeeze the bitch in there as apposed to spending another 2k on relocating it.

  • @MEAKapc you have a point...i guess relocating it would be a little useless...unless you have the money to throw a big ass turbo in it like you said haha

  • @TheDwill1234

    No , film is shorted

  • @TheDwill1234 you heard of cutting videos? its a magical thing done with help of another magic thing called computer.

  • @MadnessPk2

    twas a joke

  • @TheDwill1234 isnt that normally how long its supposed to take?

  • @TheDwill1234 haha. well I'm sure someone else has commented you about this but he said abour 3 hours in the vid :)

  • Look all that shit, I bet it's a royal pita just to swap plugs out.

  • start it up lets here how it sounds shit aftr all dat work no sound wtf slow any way

  • Is it a good idea to put some sort of filter on the hood scoop to prevent bugs and tiny rocks from crashing into the top mounted cooler???? If so what's the best way???

I do lots of high way driving!!!

    Lol

  • @wudi911

If you have to, just find some wire mesh and rig it to the back of your hood scoop braces. I had it done to my 02' WRX and it seemed to work just fine. Does it NEED it? No.

  • i have a car with a front mounted intercooler and a wrx and i prefer the top mounted my front mount gets slammed by stones and bugs and shit i prefer the top mount

  • where is the test drive... btw I like the tool selection, I have those same screw drivers at home... picked em up from harbor freight ;)

  • subarus are so stupid why mount the intercooler on top of the fucking hot ass engine the purpose is to cool the air not heat it up

  • @SRTR6 it's alled a top mount, and they don't all come right there you chose that, but yeah I hate top mounts too

  • @juggaloshaggy i know its called a top mount... top mounts are useless why even make them subarus are retarded u need a front mount if you want an intercooler

  • @SRTR6 the intercooler is mounted on top because when it was designed the car was built as a rally car. and they fitted the intercooler ontop of the engine so if the car was in a crash the intercooler wasnt damaged. this ment they could also move the rad back to prevent that from taking damage in a front ender.

  • @nizmo7 actually in a crash the entire car is toast... that is the least of their concerns... the biggest concern is hitting debris and things that could rupture the intercooler or plumbing to the front causing a boost leak and slow them down... why would they do something that would make the car slower just to make sure the intercooler stays intact if they crash and DNF???

  • @nizmo7 but it cant be good for intake temperatures or cooling of the intercooler to have it on top of the engine...lot of heat coming up from it :) ofc they have the scoop on the hood but, i guess front mounting is best way to do it =)

  • @nizmo7 You forgot to mention the MAIN purpose of them displacing the intercooler. Its main purpose for moving it was so that the intercooler does not get clogged and dirt and such. That is also why the intakes are usually displaced.

  • @SRTR6 thats why subaru put the ram air style hood dump right above the intercooler....it stays cold, dont worry

  • @SRTR6 yes. less intercooler piping which means less pressure increase/drop and better throttle response is stupid. you forget that they have a hood scoop pushing COLD air onto the intercooler.

  • I was more amused by the random beat boxing in the music lol.

  • TITbit geezer, TITbit...

  • FUCKING amateur

    what a NooB

  • Just curious, But any way to Take a turbo out of one of these, and not put another one in it, i live in australia, and when you are learning to drive (P plates) you arnt allowed a car with a turbo, but ive wanted a Subaru for nilly my whole life.

If anyone could help me and anser my question that wuld be awesome.

  • @Outpost41 No as you will find that most state don't allow engine modification also the engines ECU wouldnt be tuned for N/A and would have a slower car than a NA one

  • @Outpost41

Get the 1.6 non turbo impreza.

  • @Outpost41 i have a forester and i love it! i dont race or anything, but love it because it will drive pretty much anywhere... i do a lot of surf fishing and have modded it to get out on beaches and what not.

  • @Outpost41 Um, What state do you live in? i live in WA and i own a wrx and I'm still on my green p plates. My first car is actually the car i have now so i have driven a wrx since i first got my license. Most of my friends who are on green p plates also own turbo cars and V8s. So are you sure you can't own a turbo car where you live?

  • @212Dude212 Vic.

  • Some one says, "aw shit" in the back ground @ 4:36....LMFAO!!!!

  • Yeah you can swap turbos but you have to get bigger injectors, bigger 255 lpm fuel pump and get it tuned.

Go to nasioc.com to read up on it.

Just cant swap one in and go.

  • Yeah you can swap turbos but you have to get bigger injectors, bigger 255 lpm fuel pump and get it tuned.

  • Hey guys i have a fast ?. I dont kno to much about cars so i was going to ask people on here. I own a 04 subaru wrx. I was wondering if you could get a turbo off of a sti and just swap it out with the wrx turbo. would i have to do anything to the engine or can i even to that?

  • @Cmutt91 you definately can do that!

  • @SubieDood503 would i have to do anything to the engine or can the engine handle to upgraded sti turbo

  • @Cmutt91 You dont have to do anything but i would suggest getting a Cobb Access Port installed. This is an upgrade to ur ECU and it will add more horsepower and recognize the upgrades u've added!

  • cool install vid but you sound like a gay dane cook.

  • You guys at Rallitek rock!. Keep up the good work and keep on spitting out with new products.

  • good install video... thumbs up, keep up the good work

  • ur camera man sux...

  • How much horse power do you gain with the turbo he is installing

  • wat about an non turbo impreza i have 2008 2.0 non turbo impreza i want same more power on it .. wat should i do !! any one can help !!

  • @49supra buy a turbo kit for it and get it installed, Or get a whole second hand WRX or STI engine and get it installed you need about $4K to 6K AUS for either option

  • @iamhelix .. thank you but if i swap engine to wrx . i dont need to change differential ??

  • did he not need to clock the turbo at all??? i like my subie

  • tiny ass fucking turbo

  • Oh. Nice turbo. I have a stock WRX and in a year I'm planning to have it upgraded up to 275hp. Do you think the stock internals can handle that? What's that music from anyway?

  • @ChuckManiac the stock internals will hold up far past that

  • lift*

  • well yah its easy when you have the exauss off but lets see how long it took to put the exausee back on im drunk sorry about the spelling and most people dont have a are life in there garage

  • @gorelord187 You have no life for being drunk and YouTubing!

  • @WolfPackNJC i have no lise cause i drink beer you must be a little kid

  • @Brennaisforever what the fuck are you talking about? you have no "lise" cause you drink beer? you must be retarded. at least make sense of what you are trying to say when you try to offend me. and no, i am 22 and i prefer whiskey.

  • @WolfPackNJC i drink beer cause i work hard and play harder

  • @gorelord187 but why would you get drunk and youtube? do you have no life?

  • @WolfPackNJC you dont drink at your house and use your computer?what a loser

  • Subaru Legacy and Outbacks make for awesome sleepers. I love this

  • that idiot hasnt a clue. if you take his advise you will destroy you car. a very irresponsible video

  • does any body know were to get a turbo for a 1993 legacy

  • all those rubber tubings for boost are so upgradable to hard piping and have 40% increased response

  • haha nice toolbox, just right almost on the windshield.

  • Most people making comments have no clue. The TMIC is a safer set up for off road racing, it's based off a rally racing. One rock or a small run in to a tree and you can guarantee a boost leak with a FMIC. Also the guy is running the Perrin TMIC (aftermarket), so i am guessing he already has a DP, Injectors, FP... and whatever other things ready to support this turbo. With his set up i do agree that a FMIC would help him out when it comes to tuning.

  • nice vid, but the music made me want to kill myself...

  • fake ...its same turbo =)) ahaha

  • Bad lighting but really good tutorial! Tumbs Up

  • bring the mag back

  • Good teacher, bad video editing

  • All i can say is, if you care about the customer, have the decency not to put tools on his intercooler, ever, or anywhere they can leave even a little mark. Most people don't use panel guard's to protect the panels and don't use a tool tray. Why ? It's not yours, treat the car with respect. It doesn't matter what it's worth.

  • BANJO BOLT'S!

  • Aqua!

  • Is there some kind of big gain from swapping the turbos? I'm not farmiliar with subaru's at all.

  • @kyle1058 It really depends. There are so many different types and sizes, there are many different reasons you would swap it. In this case, he's swapping it for a much larger, but more efficient turbo than the stock. It's larger, so it will take longer to wind up (turbo lag), but be able to produce higher boost. The fact that it's more efficient just means that he'll get a pretty large horsepower gain, with very little more lag than stock.

  • Banjo Bolt's!

  • @Drago2600 i snapped my banjo, i nearly cried so instead i punched my cat so hard it did backflips

  • tis guy is a wicked bad teacher seems like he dont even know what hes talking about

  • while u are working on the forcced induction, you might as well put a front mount in

  • @sploge This had forced induction before and it has a top mount intercooler... lol.

  • HP ?

  • I WANT THAT TURBO IN MY SUBARU

  • Harbor Freight Screw Driver set FTW!!!

  • So whats the difference in the STI intake manifold and the LGT IMF? the LGT looks... Plastic?! idk

  • i love youtube mechanics.. he's the one who did the swap. while u spent 8 min's of your life watching

  • do it right then..

  • soo many haters, all the haters are just punks.

    Ty for video

  • also when filling up the radiator-- your way when hot and running will be at least 1 litre short. absolute bollox video. oh yeah yours would of blown up as you forgot gaskets. idiot. money mad mechanic......

  • what the hell are you teaching ? 5 hours to put a turbo on? i do it in 50 min. you DONT USE A SHARP PICK TO ATTACH THE INLET TUBE!! you never mentioned the fact that to take the turbo off you need to pull the turbo apart to get the last bolt out. (just the way they built it.maybe thats why you take 5 hours) why would you put the clip on 1st and then slide the tubing on and then try and fuck about trying to slide the clip around it.? all your going to do is weaken and puncture the rubber!!

  • @durs6 i think he was being sarcastic about the time....

  • could you say rip a turbo outta a chevy cobalt and put it in a chevy/gmc Heavy duty gas truck 6.0/8.1 L V8s?

  • I so like the turbo :D

  • "music" got so annoying i had to change it

  • ya he knos a lot anyone notice he forgot the exhaust gasket between the exhaust and turbo????

  • @FFmichael109...no, look at 3:14 he has a sliver one, it's hard to see. BTW i found a fairly stock (Exhaust only) WRX with 100,000 miles on it, well taken care of for 5200, but I want to ask someone who sounds like they know what they are talking about. It is a 2002 model wagon (LOL, but it is much more practical for me, and it only weighs 80lbs more). Does it need anything (I would replace belts and possible some other things).

    Thanks!

  • why change a good turbo when you are not upgrading fuel injectors, boost, intercooler, etc?

  • You could just take a huge steaming dump on top the motor, it would do just as much good! hahaha let the flame war begin!

  • this guy is damn high or just dumb... lol

  • @tibu266 ill have to go with dumb... he is hosting a internet "tv show"

  • how much horsepower did u add by putting that turbo on?????

  • Nice Video

Why it was nescessary to replace the charger ?

Normally a charger overlives the motor if lubrication was not faulty.

  • you know nothing of making power with turbos.

Rule #1: SWAP the Stock snail with a better one!
