Hey, I'm planning to buy the Clarins face tanner, the liquid bronze one. But in the store I saw that one with a darker packaging. Does that give a darker colour, or is it just a different product? Please respond!
i have then just purchesed the johnsons and came online to look at reviews and well i might take it back cus it seem that good and everyone is complaining of the smell and i hate horrible smells i know they have change the formula and the smell coming from the bottle smells really nice but i bet it will smell afterwards and i cant be done with that so might take it back if i can but for about 1 50 i might just try it and see what its like

I got a question: When you shower in the morning, do you scrub your body or just wash normally with soap with your hands? Or do you just shower with only water? What is better warm or cold water?

Johnsons was also my first fake tan i tried and the one for the face i thought was really good but the body one? Really bad. Made me go yellow. I actually liked the smell of it. Now St moriz i was so gutted when it didnt work on me. It smelt like fairy liquid to me. So horrible!

I have to say I used XEN tan and IMO it's the most overrated product I have ever used.

But XEN tan is the worst thing I have ever used in my life. I am shocked that so many people like it. I am not naturally pale either. When in the sun I go a nice brown color.
Oh god...st.tropez turned me oompa loompa orange...I have hd excellent luck with Fake Bake self tanning lotion...and i am eggshell white normally...it is really goofproof...If you have problems of turning orange with self tanners Fake Bake is awesome because it has an olive base...but different things work well with different people and i think its great that you reviewed several different products on here...thanks for posting
omg johnsons holiday skin is so biscuity!! i have dove summer glow with shimmer and it's more fine glitter than a sheen that only reflects when the light hits it, so i'd be wary!xx
I went to buy some more fake tan today as i ran out, i couldn't choose between xen and st tropez. I ended up sticking with the st tropez but i got the new wash off instant glow instead and its amazing!! soo much better than the regular range. I bought the xen mitt though! Next time I will defintley try this as i have a sensitive nose too!x
@kailyn2894 I use Dove Energy Glow and it's FANTASTIC! It's gradual so you can decide how dark you wanna get. I absolutely LOVE it and it comes in light, medium and dark.
but can i just ask? at 12:51 your phone went off, and that is the exact noise to my iPhone, and my phone makes that noise at various times really randomly and i have no idea what its trying to tell me? any ideas? haha extremely random question :P xxx
I find Nivea can be quite hard to work with. A bit orange and streaky, seems to work better if I've done the original tan with something else and top up with Nivea. I do like the Piz Buin dial a tan thing but I love Make Believe! Shame it is so expensive Oh and I think the smell for make believe is not so tanny.:)
@lilybecause All fake tans are different for everyone depending on the temperature of your shower, if you shower or take baths, and how often you exfoliate or moisturise, but for me about a week. x
you said that you moisteurise your body so your fake tan spreads easierly, i also do this but my skin seems to dry when applying tan, atm i am using fake bake gradual tan just because i look like casper atm ahaha, is there anything that you would suggest to help my skin not dry out? btw i found this video very useful :) and i am defo buying the clarins face tan on my next shop :) xxxxx
@NaiveHeart16 I would use a very rich moisturiser, maybe a few times a day leading up to the day you tan! Also if you exfoliate more it should help! x
I rember when I was 14 I used my mums johnsons holiday skin and I hated it too, I had no idea how to apply it the front of my arms and legs were orange and the back of my arms and legs were white!
the dove summer tanner is awful, gives orange skin and smells like crap as well. ALL cheapos are bad, because with self-tanners, prices do matter...even with the more expensive ones you can screw up because it's very hard to literally come up with something that would tinge and resist on our skin...
i personally prefer the Piz Buin range, it's highly appreciated here in Europe. or the st tropez-never tried it, but heard good reviews.
@Gingers272 Like the video says, everyone has different tastes, the dove gives me a really natural colour, shame it doesn't work the same for you. As far as cheap self tanners, St Moritz mousse actually has almost identical ingredients to the St Tropez mousse, so I don't think you always have to spend a fortune. x
I've just been out and bought the Dove Summer Glow after you mentioned it. I was just wondering, how often do you need to apply it? Every night after a shower?
@SparkleeSarahh I usually apply it once and if the colour isn't deep enough again the next night, then I can leave it about a week or so, it depends. Hope you like it! x
my favourite gradual tanner is the dove one aswell :) have you tried the one with soft simmer? it makes your skin look like edward cullens which sounds really crazy but it just gives you a pretty glow :) xxx

Can totally agree with you on the Johnson's holiday skin! It's horrible - one of the worst products they have created!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Xen Tan. This is my holy grail. I love the smell, reminds me of marzipan! haha. I use a make up sponge on my feet, hands and face and it seems to work really well!

@emylee01 When i use the St Moritz and go in the shower the next day some of the product comes off in the water, but i still look really brown. So i guess its just what didn't go into my skin as i still have this gorgeous colour but the water runs brown! I must be heavy handed xxx

@GinaLixxie It wasn't orange on me but someone just commented saying it was on them! maybe tan somewhere first to test it? like your stomach or your back? then there will still be enough left for your prom if it works! x
a good one to try is the Boots Soltan mousse! Its so natural and completely streak free! I would recommend using the Medium or Deep shade as its quite natural and you can really layer it on- I have light olive skin btw :) xx

I know it's bad, but I don't use those. I just tan the good old way. I use SPF though! But living on the French RIviera I am at the beach 80% of my summer and it's nice to lay in the sun... I need to change that but this summer is my last summer here so I may as well enjoy it one last time... Then, I'll look back at this video :P

i can see a colour difference on me in xentan and st tropez.. i found that st tropez did make me orange :( xen tan is alot nicer! i don't think i'll ever stop buying xen tan :)
@DiamondandRose they sell it in penneys or primark , in most chemists/pharmacies and sometimes in txmaxx ive found some there. Maybe theres a website aswell.
Ive just tried the ombre solaire spray one! Worst thing ever, so so so streaky my arms have patches of white so I need to wear a jumper to cover it in 30 degree weather :L
@sasssyblonde97 Do you shower it off though? They all smell, because the dha - the active tanning ingredient has a smell. There is no escaping it if you want to fake tan. x

@janeychejake With the xen tan it does a little, but it washes out in the washing machine, I usually wait to apply it and do it on a night when I'm washing the sheets the next day! x
I actually took notes during the video, like a little school boy. I'm actually going to try out the dove summer glow and the either the garnier or the clarins face tanners. I never really considered fake tanners before, I used to just go tanning once a month or every other month, but I feel like gradual tanners are a lot healthier. How often do you apply them?

Hey girlie.. You keep saying with these different tanners you always wear it overnight and then wash it off the next morning... And I'm wondering.. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I always wear mine overnight as well after gettin out of the shower and my fiance detests the smell no matter what one I try, but I guess I just never thought of washing it off b/c then I would be washing alot of the color away... So now I am kind of confused!
@beautybuff820 well the gradual tanner stains the skin so if you shower it won't wash off unless its an instant wash off tan, as long as it has a developer it won't wash off :) x
Gemma I hate the smell of Xen-tan, like I said on twitter the smell just gets stronger over the time I have it on it becomes unbearable and I have to wash it off asap. I definitely agree about it smelling like a cherry bakewell. When I shower after I've had it on over night Im not left with any colour, it all seems to disappear, but it works for my mam :( I may try another tanner from the range as I have the same one as you. I agree on Johnson gradual tanner it awful! xx
@TheDanielle11 Its so strange that it doesn't work on your skin, have you contacted them about it? They are usually quite good. I can't get enough of the smell! haha but I love sickly smells because apparently I am still five years old mentally! x
@emylee01 get more tanned each time you use it. If you left the St Moritz on overnight and it still came off, I would say the ingredients don't work with your skin, which can happen! xx
How long did you have the St Moritz on before you went into the water? On the back of the bottle it will give you the developing time, the colour when the product first goes on is just to show you where you have put the product, then over time it will develop and colour your skin, and stay on. Normally products say 4 hours but I leave them on overnight.
The St Moritz is not a bronzer, the only difference between gradual and normal is that its lighter, so you gradually

i have the new johnsons formulation. it smells horrible! im pretty sure i used the other one and didn't have a problem with the smell. but the new one smells vile! my mum was like 'what have you got on? it stinks!' haha. thanks for this video btw! it really helps.

I've just been out and bought the Dove Summer Glow after you mentioned it. I was just wondering, how often do you need to apply it? Every night after a shower?

@SparkleeSarahh I usually apply it once and if the colour isn't deep enough again the next night, then I can leave it about a week or so, it depends. Hope you like it! x

my favourite gradual tanner is the dove one aswell :) have you tried the one with soft simmer? it makes your skin look like edward cullens which sounds really crazy but it just gives you a pretty glow :) xxx

This came just at the right time Gemma. I was about to take the plunge and get a gradual tanner, thanks for the recommendations. I'm new to fake tan, can you believe that?! Can't believe I've got to age 26 and never tried it. Always been too worried that I'd cock it up as I'm proper pale.

Can totally agree with you on the Johnson's holiday skin! It's horrible - one of the worst products they have created!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Xen Tan. This is my holy grail. I love the smell, reminds me of marzipan! haha. I use a make up sponge on my feet, hands and face and it seems to work really well!

wow Gemma when u said u hated the johnsons i was like oh no if she hates that she'll hate the dove one,but i like you love the dove! i think its great the smell is fine but its really moisturizing aswell which i love about it!

@emylee01 When i use the St Moritz and go in the shower the next day some of the product comes off in the water, but i still look really brown. So i guess its just what didn't go into my skin as i still have this gorgeous colour but the water runs brown! I must be heavy handed xxx

Hi love! :) GREAT video - I was planning on doing something like this too :) I adore the gradual tan by St. Tropez. It's a light mousse and has such a fantastic colour, I think its because I'm so pale so it doesn't turn me orange ;)

Love the video hun! currently using the Garnier summer body gradual tanner, love it! even used it on my face and it doesnt streak one bit! such good price too so glad you agree! Was the garnier ambre solaire orange? thinking of using this all over for my prom? but bit worried im gona look a bit tangoed!!

a good one to try is the Boots Soltan mousse! Its so natural and completely streak free! I would recommend using the Medium or Deep shade as its quite natural and you can really layer it on- I have light olive skin btw :) xx

I would reccomend solait bronzing mousse frm suprdrug. (£6)
It's basically exactly the same as ST Tropez mousse. :)

I know it's bad, but I don't use those. I just tan the good old way. I use SPF though! But living on the French RIviera I am at the beach 80% of my summer and it's nice to lay in the sun... I need to change that but this summer is my last summer here so I may as well enjoy it one last time... Then, I'll look back at this video :P

I love Xen Tan! I think the smell is great too! :) Fab review hun, very thorough! I have a bottle of Makebelieve facial self tan to try out and it's pricier than both St Tropez and Xen Tan so fingers crossed it works well! :) xx

i can see a colour difference on me in xentan and st tropez.. i found that st tropez did make me orange :( xen tan is alot nicer! i don't think i'll ever stop buying xen tan :)

I love self tanner too.. Im very fair, in the face I can use some bronzer & blush to give me color if I want to, but I just hate pasty white legs.

@sasssyblonde97 Do you shower it off though? They all smell, because the dha - the active tanning ingredient has a smell. There is no escaping it if you want to fake tan. x

@janeychejake With the xen tan it does a little, but it washes out in the washing machine, I usually wait to apply it and do it on a night when I'm washing the sheets the next day! x

I actually took notes during the video, like a little school boy. I'm actually going to try out the dove summer glow and the either the garnier or the clarins face tanners. I never really considered fake tanners before, I used to just go tanning once a month or every other month, but I feel like gradual tanners are a lot healthier. How often do you apply them?

Hey girlie.. You keep saying with these different tanners you always wear it overnight and then wash it off the next morning... And I'm wondering.. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I always wear mine overnight as well after gettin out of the shower and my fiance detests the smell no matter what one I try, but I guess I just never thought of washing it off b/c then I would be washing alot of the color away... So now I am kind of confused!

@beautybuff820 well the gradual tanner stains the skin so if you shower it won't wash off unless its an instant wash off tan, as long as it has a developer it won't wash off :) x

Gemma I hate the smell of Xen-tan, like I said on twitter the smell just gets stronger over the time I have it on it becomes unbearable and I have to wash it off asap. I definitely agree about it smelling like a cherry bakewell. When I shower after I've had it on over night Im not left with any colour, it all seems to disappear, but it works for my mam :( I may try another tanner from the range as I have the same one as you. I agree on Johnson gradual tanner it awful! xx

@emylee01 get more tanned each time you use it. If you left the St Moritz on overnight and it still came off, I would say the ingredients don't work with your skin, which can happen! xx

How long did you have the St Moritz on before you went into the water? On the back of the bottle it will give you the developing time, the colour when the product first goes on is just to show you where you have put the product, then over time it will develop and colour your skin, and stay on. Normally products say 4 hours but I leave them on overnight.
The St Moritz is not a bronzer, the only difference between gradual and normal is that its lighter, so you gradually

i have the new johnsons formulation. it smells horrible! im pretty sure i used the other one and didn't have a problem with the smell. but the new one smells vile! my mum was like 'what have you got on? it stinks!' haha. thanks for this video btw! it really helps.
