Take note that the mercury class battlestar,is most high tech and has a 360 degrees cover from her main batteries but they have the most firepower in the front as compared to the columbia class battlestar that has most main batteries facing forward and up
what never made sense to me was, why would they sacrafice the pegasus over the galactica? surely keeping the pegasus would of been much better with its bigger armament, self producing Vipers, bigger water processing stations. ? just give it a name change and vwaala! the colonials could take the fight back to the cylons with that 1 beast
Although i love the pegasus(and its class of battlestar), i dont like how its heavy guns are stationed around it, all youd have to do would be attack from above or below, and you wouldnt take that much damage.
@awesomeinabox777 I think that the higher up guns on the side of the pegasus can shoot much further into the air, the angle of aim seems to be 90 degrees from completely flat with the hull to completely upright, and vice versa with the lower guns on the side of the hull, they seem to be able to shoot 90 degrees downwards too, so I think it still has a good field of fire
The best tactical move I've ever seen or heard of: Adama dropping down into the atmosphere of New Caprica, launching the raptors and FTLing back into orbit..
yeah, + 2 battlestar-decoys! oO (he is launching vipers, raptors can jump on themselves...
Pegasus is possible one of the best Sci-Fi-Ships in Ship2Ship-Combat. It´s hard to beat that construction + the badass-turrets on... :D
Galactica vs Pegasus (playable in the Fleet Commander Mod for Homeworld 2) would be one nice battle to view... but noway galactica could possible win... pegasus has to much firepower
Depends on who is in command. Adama has the experience, Cain has the firepower. Remember, the older battlestars were built with heavier armor, the newer models were build focusing on firepower. I wouldn't say who would win in a fight, personally I think it could go either way.
Playing Fleet Commander Mod I can defeat the Pegasus 25% of the time with Galactica and occasionally draw (both blowing up). Of course I'm 100% Peggy -v- Big G
Oh, well they made a movie, called Battlestar Galactica:Razor. Its pretty good, lots of space action, all though it was meant for everyday people who have never watched bsg, so expect a lot of comprehension screens.
I noticed that too - but the Pegasus has 4 landing bays instead of 2, so maybe that's why they made some of them upside down - launching vipers according to their appropriate hangar bays since it can carry a larger compliment of vipers. It's a beast of a ship, twice the size of Galactica. What's interesting is that the artificial gravity on the underside landing bays is the opposite to the top landing bays and the rest of the ship. Talk about vertigo!
If your asking if its a construction site for new ships or a docking/servicing station im guessing servicing, pegasus was there for a refit/upgrade.
And as for the comments below that its a larger galactica class vessel I doubt it "just make it bigger" wouldn't work when you take into consideration the internal structure for the ship as well as problems with parts replacement/interchange with other ships of the class. Galactica may just be the "last ship of her class" that hasn't been refitted.
I don't think it's totally a mistake. I've read an interesting discussion on a bsg mod boards about this. That galactica class ship in the background is supposed to be that size, as it would have been built after the first war, and so it was built bigger, because the colonials didn't have any new designs. They would ahve built more and bigger ships of the same class until they designed newer and beter classes to replace them, such as the mercury class, almost 40 years later.
We were talking about the ship at the top of the screen at 0:16. That is DEFINATELY a galactica (or columbia class - no real knowledge i can find which is is).
There is a valkarie class at scorpion granted, but not in the shot at 0:16.
Just trust me on that, (well you can look for yourself) but i play a very accurate mod, in terms with bsg featured ships from the series, and im familiar with all the in series ships. Or military ones.
It's the galactica class, but there was a ship that was rebuilt and called the columbia before the second war started. The second columbia was destroyed as the cylons attacked.
Though i do believe the galactica is actually called the "Columbia class " battlestar. There's no real certainty to which it actually is, columbia or galactica.
It definately looks like a columbia class of which there are supposed to be 12, 1 to represent each colony, Galactica represents Caprica, but is also said to be the final suriving battlestar from the first war so idk what that ship is supposed to be.. Also in the 3hr opening of the first series Boomer and Helo find a ruin of a Battlestar that looks like a Columbia class, so idk? Maybe to save money they re-used the designs not sure
They almost certainly built additional battlestars of that design on a crash basis to replace battlestars the Cylons were destroying during the war. The Galactica class (that's what I've heard it called the most but that designation has NOT been established as cannon.) probably would have been the basis for the at least first generation of postwar battlestar design and the ships we've seen should probably be considered "Improved Galactica" class battlestars.
We don't know for sure what battlestar that was. We see a ship that looks just like Galactica at 1:25-1:30, and another during the miniseries while Boomer's raptor is on its way to Caprica.
I like the fade out / fade in at 1:42 where it goes from the battle scene to Pegasus & Galactica and matches the beat..timing footage to this song is VERY tricky and a big challenge..another fade in / fade out at 1:47 would be even better if you could lengthen the footage by just 1 second to another view of Pegasus and Galactica...keep at it..this is good !!!!
I'm also working on making a bsg video to the prelude to war song but I'm having to use the analog video out of a dvd player to a dazzle then back to usb of my computer. Can anyone recommend a good dvd software ripping program..that's free ? by the way, this video is really good..MUCH better than some of the others out there that use just random footage. I would say that you might want to try and time your fade in's and fade out's and so forth with the beat of the song..otherwise, great video
which episode is this??? :O :O

@awesomeinabox777 pegasus is a mercury class battlestar, and im pretty sure it has batteries on top.
either way, it can always roll over so it always has a firing solution on the enemy. and then theres the massive swarms of vipers :D
