Certain types of FACTS may be inferred from a suspect's silence and those facts MAY, but not NECESSARILY, result in a finding of a defendant's guilt in a court of law.

With respect, I would say that unless you can be jailed for refusing to speak to the police in a case in which you are a suspect you do have a "RIGHT" to remain silent. I have already acknowledged that refusing to answer questions MAY be used as evidence against you at trial in the U.K. However, that it MAY be used against you does not mean it necessarily can be used against you. The content of this video best proves it. He did nothing illegal, he refused to answer, the cops walked away.

Same way you don't have a right to bare arms. Its American law which holds no authority or resemblance to what we have in the UK. I have no idea whats going on in the video beyond some bloke being an arse and making a big deal out of a non incident so I've no further comment.

You've STILL failed to state any penalty that can be imposed solely upon the basis for refusing to answer police questions and you cannot do so. If you have not committed a crime but the police suspect you might have committed a crime and attempt to question you but you refuse to answer their questions you cannot be charged with "refusal to answer police questions."
Thus, you do have the right to refuse to answer police questions.

As an example, if you were accused of killing sombebody and disposing of their body and then refused to answer police questions your refusal may be used to infer guilt in committing the alleged crime.
However, at trial in walks "the dead guy" who admits to "running away from society" and not telling anybody.
The inference of guilt for refusing to answer police questions is irrelevant because no crime was commited and the refusal to speak to police is not seperately punishable.

I can remember years ago a black guy being pulled over for assaulting someone drunk, he used the classic phrase "is it because I'am black", at which point the policeman with his fast wit replied "I think you'll find sir your not black, your brown", the black guy just looked in disbelief and went very quiet at that point lol.
Skin colour means nothing at the end of the day, there is good and bad in us all, we need to all grow up, black people, Asian's and white's or we all will have no future.
