I've worked police checkpoints for 15 years and, at least where I live, they are a great added security to your safety on the roads, and are in NO WAY a violation of your rights when done correctly. Most of the workers are volunteers and I have never witnessed anybody get arrested or have their vehicle towed who didn't deserve it. If your driving legally the entire stop will take less time to get through than a red light does. Exp both sides.

I'm not sure what I dislike more, police checkpoints or snarky lawyers. If you wanted to 'fight the man' and combat checkpoints, maybe you could have used your superior legal skills to educate your viewers instead of just acting like asses.

I've worked police checkpoints for 15 years and, at least where I live, they are a great added security to your safety on the roads, and are in NO WAY a violation of your rights when done correctly. Most of the workers are volunteers and I have never witnessed anybody get arrested or have their vehicle towed who didn't deserve it. If your driving legally the entire stop will take less time to get through than a red light does. Exp both sides.

WOOOOWWW you guys are really complaining about this?? What a bunch of babies! That took like 1 minute to get through the checkpoint. And comparing it to Nazi Germany is pathetic and it is disrespectful to those who actually had to live through Nazi rule. Stop being so spoiled. The constitution doesn't say we can't be stopped while driving on the road to make sure we aren't drunk, so stop acting like it does. They didn't search or seize anything, only talked to you. They can do that ya know!!

@wgshooter The checkpoints are on major routes and they have police watching all the roads leading up to the actual checkpoint, anyone who does an abrupt turn around usually gets a stopped.

Those who took the first exit out found themselves at the top of the hill with all the cops. those who drove past, thinking they were going to go through the checkpoint found nothing of the sort, because all the cops were at the exit, waiting for the drunks and illegal bitch ass mexicant's to leave via the exit, thinking they would skirt the situation.

@Marksnotebook But the supreme court has ruled that things like DUI checkpoints are perfectly legal.That is the way it works. Its not JUST the constitution, its how it is applied and interpreted. See the constitution was written with out a organized police force in mind.And the 4th amendment so no UNREZANABLE searched and seizures.These are reasonable, slowing you down for 1 or 2 min is not unreasonable,so it really doesnt go against the 4th amendment.All they do is talk to you quick.

Funds come in the form of Federal or state GRANTS that have to be used for these checkpoints or the money is not provided and in some cases required to be paid back out of the individual police force budgets.It is then put back into the same grant pool that the voters of every city in america vote for and agree to. This money is not an added cost to taxpayrs.It has already been figured into the budget each year and in most cases is not ever spent in its entirety thus creating a surplus in Budget

Remeber it is the driver in controll of the situation at every checkpoint. Its the driver who makes the decision to drive illegally thus accepting the consequences of that decision when and if they are stopped.
