I love how the big crossover players in the EVA storyline are apparently Kouji and the Getter team, of all people. I guess if you want to give Shinji a spine you can't hold back any. And it works.

NGE had a great setting and characters, it was just executed really poorly. The rebuild seems to be fixing that big time so far.

The events of Alpha play out slightly differently than in the series; the two Angels prior to Kaworu don't show up (the events surrounding them are instead caused by the main villain of the game), and the Lance goes unused. Gendo does in fact somewhat sweat the fact that he's been unable to find a reason to dispose of the lance.

The Manga did it way better Narutowa. They had them all in a school and the EVA were weapons that were extensions of their personality.

But yeah, Eva is really crap, it isn't that good an anime, in any way shape or fashion (Just like TTGL). Gainax just makes it overly flashy to attract attention.

Eva was noted by the Gainax staff that all this Symbolism and crap people praise like a God wasn't even on purpose. Without that, it's just a normal story. And I emphasize normal. Eva was boring and overdone. Half of it doesn't make sense when you consider it and when you consider all the symbolism is fan made.

I'd take a psychology class. People went too deep into the meaning of everything in hopes of finding Symbolism that isn't there and made Eva as something bigger than it is. I've seen Episodes of Eva, I've seen the N64 game too. Nothing about it was really exciting if you were watching it from the surface. It was a giant mecha drama with next to no character development, and Plothole inconsistencies galore. (Continued)

The real pulling part of Eva was making some scenes holy shit epic, or dramatic. But that's common of Gainax, no different from Gunbusters, no different from a Real robo Drama moment. Bar the Christian Elements, which by the Anime staff's own admission was added to "make it distinct from other mecha animes", it was basically nothing new. Nothing interesting. (Continued)

TTGL took an already successful idea (make shit go boom in extremely crazy ways) ala Gunbuster, and tried to top that by making the GL series pull off crazy nuts things. They made everything "bigger" and "more awesome", but far as I saw, the story was generally face paced, and worked on appealing to the common minded people of this generation. Gainax aimed for blowing the lid on their own works and just make everything look rediculously crazy (continued)

For example, TTGL was supposedly the size of the Universe originally, THEN they made STTGL? It's an obvious sign that they weren't even going for "Cool", they were going for "blow people's minds out" in hopes of drawing people by pulling out crazy insane shit that blew the limits of even Super Robos (failing out to Demonsbane I hear).

That's all Gainax does: Try to blow people's minds out. TTGL is nothing special, they already did it: it was called "Gunbuster/Diebuster".

Exactly. I read up that they had an interview with the cast who developed the story. All those Christianity references are there, they were added to add a level of distinctness to seperate it from all the other Mecha anime of the time, not to be interpreted the way they were.

"Polite" and "Eva" have never mixed really. I respect the people who like Eva, but I don't respect the Show itself in any way shape or form.

If Flashy made animes, then half of the animes that existed would be good and main stream. It's story that really sets apart the good from the crap. It's why even today, the Holy Trinity of Mecha (Mazinger, Getter, Gundam) are still favorites, and not just short time trends.

Well, in order to get the skillpoint, the main character must kill him. But in the canon story of the alpha series, it is shinji that kills kaworu.
