  • I think the reason all these kids always say there age is because they're looking for recognition, they don't have friends that they can share and enjoy the music with so they look to the youtube community. but yea no one cares about your age, all we care about is the Funk!

  • Love the Ohio Players. Thanks to my dad for blastin' this when I was a youngin'!

  • put somma that stank on it. haha

  • Trust me, kids do deserve a pat on the back if they groove at home to this shit because if I showed this to most of my friends they'd probably make fun of it or call it gay. Give credit where credit is due to the younger generation standing up for soul and funk!

  • @C0leman Word.

  • ALL FRESHLY BAKED, AND HOME COOKED, IN A TIME OF POSSIBILITY'S!

  • this song was playing in the background when I "discovered" girls.

  • Junie!

  • Oh that phrase about a "gift horse..." goes back to the 5th century. So I'm not saying anything new. "Noli equi dentes inspicere donati" It was St. Jerome's Commentary on the Epistle to the Ephesians. Got this information from the 'Urban Dictionary.' These 'young people' whether we like it or not, are our future and today's present! More power to them and God bless!

  • Personally I think it's a beautiful thing, a very beautiful thing indeed when younger people can express how much they enjoy our music which in many cases may be older then them. Give them a break! If they were complaining about it then you would have something negative to say!!! Unbelievable. I think it's awesome that they have the range of being able to appreciate not just their own music, but can also see the value in ours. Don't look a gift horse in it's mouth!!!

  • this song is addictive

  • @vidaa82 Stop your moaning you old git !! You're just annoyed cuz your bits have gone all leathery and you cant tap your foot to the beat cuz yer in-growing toenail hurts like a bitch. It's great to hear someone who's 12 say that they love 70's funk, it just proves that good music is timeless, but people get old and miserable. Now stop cryin', make a mug of cocoa and fuck off to bed ......dont forget to put the cat out, take your teeth out and take your pills for gout !

  • Man...Looking at the picture...makes me loves the STURGGLE...I love the past...I was born in the 70's

  • Is it me, or are seconds 21-23 remixed into the Tribe Called Quest "Scenario Remix"?

  • @williamk3 haha yeah your rite, dude you got a good ear,,,

"Lyrics to go" is my favorite sampled song

  • i feel this..lol love it!!!!!

  • Oooh, I forgot about these guys. Gotta bust my bass out and jam!

  • the real deal!

  • wish i was 18 years old in 73, and not -1!!!!!!!

  • @OscarMunoz7 Yeah 56 no fun. :( I was 13 and life and music was amazing!

  • this song is so funky--luv it-u had to have been around -when u walked down the street it was hello sister-hello bother--

  • "Junie" as in Junie Morrisson of Stick It In?!

  • This song is too funky!!!!!!!

  • I met Junie at Ken Bell's Cellebrity East on Detroit's east side on new year's eve. Nice guy.Boy, I miss those days.PaRTY!!!!

  • why do people have such a huge problem with kids stating that they like good music? I much prefer them coming on here saying they like this then go to a modern day top 40 video and trying to say its good cause that would be a lie!

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe bang on the money brother. peace

  • Man says "loving you is ecstacy to me", Wow this is what I grew up hearing, it is still applicable and grown up sexy, no shame or disgrace.

  • This is in response to vidaa82 comment about young people, first let me say when you criticize some one first spell correctly, its comment on not " come on". as far as young people commenting on songs before their time, music has no age limit and although this music is in my time erra. My son has introduced me to music from my time that I never heard, thats how you know someone is really into music and music never dies no matter what time zone its from. dont hate appreciate theur passion.

  • @deedee2439 Wow, you just made yourself look stupid. @vidaa82 was saying when they COME ON A VIDEO as in COME UPON A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. You should have understood that you're an adult right? Oh, and it's "their" not "theur". :-)

  • I never heard this untill some one said Jay Z sampled this for Brooklyn's Finest.I likes This!!

  • It always feels good to come back to the original! Love it!

  • lovin you never do without....estacy....

  • dope!!! clark kent also did his thing on brooklyn's finest.

  • Love this jam. It was the song back in the day and still will get you to rockin"...

  • oh shit jay-z sampled this for reasonable doubt. this song just as good as the jay-z song.

  • @miserycitytexas you should've written jay Z's one is as good as this... it was first

  • DAMN! It has been ages! I loaded up a bunch of old funk for my iPod Classic, including a bunch of Ohio Players. How in the hell did I forget about this gem? I'm havin' flashbacks of "Soul Train" on Saturdays afternoon and blue light parties on Saturday night!

  • Shyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyt! This is what was up back in the day. Brought bout my first thoughts of sexuality when I was young. Raunchy, gully, funky....naw mean! Hits the soul right at the core!

  • Classic funk at its source 100% juice..Sampled hip hop watered down Kool aid..

  • The memoirs of Rick James brought me here!

  • biggie smalls and jay z sampled this for brooklyns finest

  • I wanna thank you tube I have been looking for this song for years

  • well looky here...brooklyn's finest BIG and Jay

  • Straight up TALENT!!!!!!!!!

  • Str8 up funk ! They went from Junie to Sugar and never skipped a funk beat !

  • Comment removed

  • I dig the Ohio Players!!!!!

  • I'm at the point where I'm just starting to assume that every half decent hip-hop beat is actually a sample of an older song.

  • In my opinion this was the baddest band ever!!

  • I'm 22 years old, wen i was 6 n '95 my dad had their albums on cassette & i used to listen to muzik all day n his ride..... Muzik ain't da same anymore.......

  • @SOULJATWIN That's what I'm talking about... coming from a youngster!

  • Anyone know who else sampled the bass line? I'm trying to think of another song I've heard. Not the Jay-z song but someone else.

  • @JabecoC it was dr .dre

  • Real Music, Thank God, I grew up in that era!!!

  • why do young people always gotta come on a video of an older song and tell their age and talk abt how much they appreciate the song and all older songs. just enjoy the music. u dont have to try to get a pat on the back for loving songs b4 your time cuz you're young.

  • @vidaa82 I KNOW, RIGHT!?!

  • @Bigbasssix1972

lol like I'm 3 and i really love this song and ive been listening to oldies all my life. lmbo!

  • @vidaa82 LMAO!!!!!

  • @Bigbasssix1972 Nah, that aint right... educate these youngsters instead of dissing them. Embrace them and let em know we see that some of them know how to appreciate what's good. C'mon 72, lets help keep em on the right track, or the garbage will continue to raise them...

  • @vidaa82 Let them express themselves... It could be worse, but they right here with you and me appreciating what they never had. I understand exactly why they do it, they're just letting us know that they get it. Too many of them don't, and for that they do deserve a pat on the back!

  • @runotit

yeah i see what u sayin. dont u get sick of seeing ppl talkin abt their age tho? i love to see everyone post and mention their love for an old classic but EVERYBODY from this generation has to come post their age and it just gets repititive.

  • @vidaa82 40

  • @vidaa82 I hear you, but their young with lot of growing to do, so we'll give em a pass. Thank you for understanding.

  • @vidaa82 I'm only six years old, and I love your comment!

  • @acr08807

    lol thats hilarious!

  • @vidaa82 because they feel as tho the older folks thikn we dont respect the music of past and we are trying to show there are some of us who love this music no matter what rapper talking about killing someone or selling crack its a matter of us trying to show respect

  • @vidaa82 well said. I hate it it

  • @vidaa82 give them a break man.

  • sooooo i clicked on here because the thumbnail picture looked like amber rose ...my bad ....nice song though

  • THE ROOOOOTS!!!!!!!!!

Nah, I just posted that for all the "sample haters" out there. Ohio Players was one of the first groups I became aware of, because...as an 8 year old, how could I NOT gravitate towards those album covers?

  • i dont know the producer but 0:21 part of this song was sampled on scenerio remixLONS &a tribe called quest

  • This is a jam alot of people dont remember but i never for got it.Its to cold

  • the beat is so sick, good music!!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS THE JAM

  • Loving you is ecstasy to me.......damn, that brother singing to shorty girl fo real!!! Great song!

  • Ohio players made music that no other artist can compare to. They made their stamp in history, One of the greatest groups of all time in my book. By the way I'm 33 years old.

  • The great Walter "Junie" Morrison is on lead vocals. Dig it, baby!

  • That shit comes on and grabs you! There's no music like that today. Youngsters peep game!

  • I have one issue with this song; it's too darn short! This would be a monster jam if they extended it for another minute or two.

  • This is black funk at it best Ohio Players.

  • what the fuck is up with the album cover?

    good song though.

  • @1SunChips1 The OHIO PLAYERS had some of the slickest and most provocative album covers... check out the HONEY Album Cover Hot Hot Hot

  • @1SunChips1 you would have to understand the struggles of the 1970's to understand the album cover.

  • That's what I'm talking bout! This was my era and it was SWEET!

  • I love Jay Z and Biggie but even at the age of 24 I know that the musicians of this age only sample from music artists of the 50s 60s 70s and 80s. Why would you even put them up against and compare them to the Ohio Players.

  • BROOKLYN'S FINEST.......Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls....niggas!

  • 0:22-24: Busta Rhymes - Keep It Moving :D

  • This was one the tightest interludes of its time...My favorite jamm session by the Ohio Players

  • Pure black music is rare today...There is no real challenge with the artist today. A lot of them couldn't even make back in the day..The artist and the band had to be the best because there were so many of them...

  • Sugga Foot you put it down...RIP

  • @SmithZina I can not find info that supports your posting.

  • @SmithZina not a interlude nor jam session, immaculately crafted

  • @hmoore2020 So I am correct, I thought for many many years it was a jamm session or an interlude..Yes it was immaculately crafted..

  • making me wanna groove while Im listening to this at the library....I just saw this 45 at a used record store.

  • Jay Z and Biggie knew where to get their hooks from-OLE SKOOL!

  • Navyman4! IS IN THE HOUSE!

  • ay yo, peep the style and the way the cops sweat us, the number one question is can the feds get us?

  • I would like to hear a cover version of this on the radio for my generation but too bad there isn't any true soul singers in music today.

  • Like njblack said about running to the record store? Did just that!!! Still sends a chill up my spine like the first time I heard it!! Ohio Players? Underrated like a motherfucker!!!!

  • One of my favorite songs by The Ohio Players. Has anyone ever heard Maxwell's version of this song? He performed it live at one of his concerts and he "killed it". Still today, I enjoy listening to every one of their songs including "FUNKY WORM".

  • FUNKY!!!

  • Well at least they remixed the song really well for Brooklyns Finest to sound like it's own song. I can barely tell that it's the same song.

  • I'm 26 and I LOVE OHIO PLAYERS, my mom told me I wouldn't love music until I appreciated bands like them and zapp and maze and slave etc.

  • @Aquafinabarbie and your momma is 110% on Point !! I told my sons the same exact thing, lol! and they love all it. Big Ups to your mom and you cause this music is pure "Ecstasy" that's why the likes of Jay Z sample so much of it :) Peace

  • looked like kanye n amber rose lol

  • jay z and biggie small make you shit ya draws

  • I can so see Badu redoing this cover in tribute.

  • Man, Ya'll growing up in Mississippi when i heard this on the radio back it the day i wanted to continue playing my trumpet in a group like the Players. Back and forth from Mississippi to New Orleans this is all i heard on all the radio stations! Wyld am and fm New Orleans

  • It was my second semester of architectural school at Howard in DC back in 1973 and all I wanted to hear was straight ahead jazz and jazz fusion until this funky ass tune "Ecstasy" came along and all I wanted to do whenever I heard it was dance. It was too short! There should have been a 12" remix of at least 8 minutes!!!!

  • Damn this sounds so $%#ing good!!!

  • THX! Memories - hahahaha

  • thats infamous loop @ 1:02

  • I am SO SICK of yall young kids posting new remixed versions of this song.

Why don't yall young folks shut the hell up talking bout Jayz and Biggie and just let the music RIDE!

  • @navyman4 oh hell to the yes!!! This album prolly is what

got these roodipoots on this earth to begin with XD

none of these youngsters can come close to the legends! LOL

  • @navyman4 AMEN!!! ;))

  • @navyman4 tell them tell them

  • @navyman4 God dam Whipper snappers!

  • @navyman4 Biggie and Jay-z wasn't a twinkle in their daddie's eye when this came out! lol!

  • Jay-Z sampled this in "Brooklyn's Finest". That song features Biggie as well, and they ride that beat to victory! Man, that is an awesome song!

  • this song makes anyone with rhythm wanna dance and get down.

  • luvin you luvin you is ecstasy to me, yea we use to hustle to this song at the C.O.C P. in Brooklyn, DJ. Dice & Flowers.

  • Another Jam...Lord why cant we have more music like this today?!

  • WOW, I remember jamming to this song...

  • first group I heard sample this was 41Funk, outta the Bay. they had a song called "Groupie Ass Bitch."

Also, Tribe/LONS sampled the moan ("uh-huh-huh, could never leave you...") or whatever he's saying, for Scenario Remix.

  • I know these song. I love it T.C.

  • LOVE !!!!

  • j-dilla sampled the shit out of this. believe me. in my eyes its one of the craziest flips ever.

  • Beautiful... The OP where too cold, great players an awesome vocals. Junie...

  • The Ohio Players take me back! I was a little girl hanging with my big brothers. They were teenagers but my mom made me go with them just about every where thinking they would behave with me around. All I know is I learned a lot of good songs sitting in the living room waiting! :-) You just can't beat that 70's music!

  • I was a senior in high school, still have the old school vinyl album....and a turntable to play it on......

  • If funky music were illegal this song would get the death penalty

  • thats that biggie and jay z shit, one generation of blacks make classic music and the next generation remakes the classic music to a more modern sound, Black Power.

  • I found this treasure back in 1993, diggin' through some record crates in a used record store (remember those?) in Orange County CA!

    Junie is a genius.

  • this song iz heavily sampled love it

  • Did yall know the O Ps were James Brown's musicians at one point?

  • @TheLukeoflove So was Bootsy, I've loved this group since day 1, YEAH 70's

  • @chericenteio Boosty wasnt in the OP......Marshall "Rock" Jones was the bassist of the ohio players

  • I heard this yesterday for the first time, I am hooked, great great tune, must have been huge in its day!

  • This is Junie on Lead Vocals and Keyboards, not Billy Beck!.

  • DOPE!!! They coulda let this ride out a little longer...

  • @reeseereece

Yeah this deserves 4 minutes+ no doubt. Just top to bottom lovely.

And 3 dislikes? I mean, wtf???

  • MAD DANCE APPEAL.......

  • @NAVYMAN. DOOKY STICK WAS BY GEORGE DUKE.

  • BILLY BECK ON THEM KEYBOARDS ARE THE SHIT

  • The Ohio Players had some great album covers!!

  • yeezy n amber rose...lol

  • I'm a 38yrs old black man. I've grown up around a WHOLE LOT OF FUNK! (being black in the ghetto helps so please don't be offended).

Anyway, this song is the ABSOLUTELY funkiest song in the world. More than "Fight the Power" by Isley Brothers, "Make my FUnk the P funk" by Parliaiment, more than "DOOKY STICK" by Bootsy Collins, etc. etc. etc.

It's a close first over all songs mentioned and then some!

  • @navyman4 Dooky Stick was not Bootsy. THink about it Dukey Stick. That was a song by George DUKE. Keyboard player solo, Billy Cobham and Stanley Clarke. That would inclue the songs Reach for It and Son of Reach for It. They all have that Bootsy set up. But they are not by the Boot Man.

  • That album cover is sexy!

  • bass tab?

  • Why in the Crap is this not on any of their greatest hits albums?!?!?!

  • I have not heard this in years. This is the shisnit!!!

  • the secret behind this jam is the bass that keeps you in a holding pattern for 3 bars then finally lets you land in the next two.. Junies vocals and keyboards dancing in and out of the rhythm

  • @elquebi I love your comment. I had been analyzing that feel. You are absolutely right. This is the first funk song that is on the 2 for two bars. And then releases on the 3 in the third bar. The 1 never hits. It is implied. That third bar with the Bass on the 3 feels like a 1 but it is not. Very Very bad ass song. Key of D Minor by the way. Same as Soul Power by James Brown and Bootsy.

  • @aristotleplatohomer UPVOTE THIS FOR LIFE, fucking yes

  • man..can play this 100 times consecutively would never tire. such an amazing, underrated track!

  • I always thought this song was way too short!

  • DAM! NOW THIS IS ECSTASY....MUSIC AND LYRICS....I GOT THIS ON AN ANTHOLOGY OF THE OHIO PLAYERS MY BROTHER IN LAW GAVE ME AS A GIFT....AND I'M FROM OHIO!

  • One of the most underrated classic, I was six years old when I first this song in 1974, and how I was so intimidated by the bald woman on the album cover, but now I play this song every other day on my iphone!!!

  • @bigmaverick13 That bald dominatrix was on all the cover of all their Westbound Records covers "Pain", "Pleasure","Ecstacy" and "Climax". It's a woman on "Rattlesnake" but I don't think it's her. When I saw the album cover for "Honey" I said Aww yeah!-That's more like it. I guess Mercury paid them better than Westbound did so they upgraded their model. Their Mercury recordings were more sohisticated and polished but their Westbound albums were better to me.

  • Brooklyn Zoo!!!

  • @StylizerOne Brooklyn's Finest, actually lol

    thumbs up tho
