I've had he P90 for a year now and I am disappointed in it, the quality of the photos was not what I would have imagined and I was close to switching to a Canon instead but after loads of research, I decided on the Nikon 5100. I don't recommend this camera for anyone, the only good feature of this camera is the 24x zooming but it blurs as you zoom in more and more. (N)

i have mine for almost 2 years, and i want to update to DSLR camera like nikon d7000+ the nikkor 18-105 kit lens the kit lens its not the best choise but i don't have much money to spend, the nikon p90 its not bad, but i want a DSLR to have much better low light images,and much more sharper :) but if you are a starter you can get it,you can get the nikon p100 its little better i think because is newer and the video performance is better than the p90 :) in the DSLR for beginners is nikon 3100 :)

Love this camera, there are a few drawbacks to it though. 1 for start photography its bad the mac shutter speed is 8 seconds and it does not have a manual shutter mode.

The video quality is meh, I wouldn't use it as a video camera at all. Other then those little niggles its the best camera ever for a compaq and price.

@ChristinaStory123 they are both HORRIBLE cameras, the pictures look nothing but pixels all over it and they are usualy blurry. if you want a good camera, find a DSLR, so worth it, but if you want a good point and shoot, get the Sony Cybershot DSC H20 , thats what i have, the pictures AND video are Super sharp. better than both cameras.

I'm trying to buy a camera, and I have to pick between the Nikon L110 or the Nikon p90. I dont like the p90 video quality, but I like the L110. but I dont like the auto focus on the L110, but the p90 doesnt seem to have a problem. Which one will you guys pick? Picture quality doesnt matter to me.

The two most important things in any digital camera is the SIZE of the CMOS chip, the heart of the light gathering electronics and the lens quality. Because all point and shoot cameras regardless of brand use tiny CMOS chips compared to full blown DSLR's. That is why their big brothers are so much more expensive. You also get somewhat better lens and more features, which often proves to be overkill. Even professionals don't use 90% of the features often found in top of the line DSLR cameras.

A few words about the number of megapixels. Surprise, much of this marketing hype. The $64 dollar question is what are you going to use your camera for? If you rarely or never plan to print out images greater than 8x10 and rarely crop a small area of the photo then blow that section up and print the result, more megapixels beyond 8 really doesn't matter. You won't see any different quality, even trained professionals can't see the difference between a 8x10 taken with a 8 MPX camera & a 14 mpx.

The P90 is about a year and a half old. Consider the newer P100, several improved features for a few bucks more. I got mine about six weeks ago. Street price about $360 US. Obviously I'm biased since I bought the Nikon. The Pentax is about the same price but according to the specs only shoots video at 15 frames a second in 720p. Full quality HD video is 1200x1080 which the Nikon delivers at full 30 frames a second. .As far as the still features not that great a difference.

The only problem ive had with this camera is shooting indoors. The right photo will show up on the monitor but it will look very different in the finished product. Other then that, great!

@firebend25 It was 399 at best buy. But the total came out to around 500 because of tax, a warranty and a high fast processor memory card. Please know that this is just a really upscale digital camera. It can take amazing pictures, but it does not match the power of a DSLR. Although Ive been very happy with it, I wish I could go back and take the money and invest in a DSLR.

@theehundreds1 I would say the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. This one is a DSLR, therefore you can change the lenses. While in the other hand, the Nikon Coolpix P90 is just a point-and-shoot and has the lens built in, so you can't change it. It's a great camera, all I'm saying is that the Canon gives you more control. I guess it really depends on what you want to do with it. If you're just someone who wants to take pictures of people, then this is great for you. If you want more, I'd say go for the Canon

@MsYocool I have the p90 and cannot fault it in anyway. I use both the coolpix P90 and also a canon DSLR...the zoom on the Nikon is UNBELIEVABLE! I absolutely love it.
