Mario and Sonic are on different levels. It's like Naruto fighting Goku. It's not that Goku is more skillful, it's that he deals with more power than Naruto does. Mario is basically a normal human with semi-super human jumps who's power-ups do not make him some super being like Sonic's, they have their upsides and downsides. Sonic is really just a flash in the oan, once you reflect back upon his performance. Given, the Genesis vs. SNES days were golden, as were the reast of the early 1990's.
