just change the display mode from HD to PC, i cant see any different between the two apart from the fact you dont get that orange/pink stuff on the screen. plus you can still keep ultra fast response time on!
I have the same display and get this a lot. I thought it was my graphics card and driver, but noticed that it wasn't happening on my secondary display. You get what you pay for I guess. :o(
erm, it pixil overclocks to achieve faster response times. By the way, apparantly on a VGA cable this will not occur, it will only happen with HDMI. Furthermore, even though VGA is Analog not digital, it will achieve faster response times. The only drawback is there is no sound unless hooked up to an external source (Astro A40 headset with mixamp, speakers, etc.) Conclusion: Go with VGA :D
Noobs. Response time is often regarded as the most important feature on a TV. People are under the impression that response time = delay. Response time is actually the speed at which an LCD televisions pixels change from one color to the next and back again. Putting it to ultra fast doesn't exactly do anything to input lag that your worried about.
No he has his settings wrong, fucking nub. PS3 basically has every game the Xbox has but it also has the shitty online so you gotta give that PS3 a + rep. You fail kid.
@BucketPker no it does not have all the games it only has 1 of the biggest 3 gaming franchises (call of duty) where as xbox has all of the top 3 (call of duty, halo, gears of war) omg you fail i have both and xbox is way better
@Jstocky14Productions It has all the 2K games, Madden etc. Gears is a joke, and by Reach Halo is going down. I'm a pretty good Halo 3 player (50 in MLG), and I am not going to be buying Halo Reach by the Beta. I will however be getting Black Ops and fuck Gears 3. Gears sounds like your running around with a guy that has the worst asthma in the world. And keyword the "basically."
@BucketPker you your response to me saying that xbox has the top three best selling game franchises is you saying that playstation has 2k games and then you say that they are not good wow what a response
this is a great moniter, i use it primarely for the xbox, perfect image, detailed, sweet as, buy it, got mine for $300AUD from digiworld. it is a little to project the image when you turn it on but who needs to see the xbox start sequence
The thing that's happening there is called the pixel voltage overshoot.....what is happening is that the lcd is trying to lower the response time by giving the pixels higher voltage. This results in the voltages sometimes overshooting on some pixels resulting in a different color than the one it is supposed to show. Just keep it at advanced and everything will be fine.
its hard to explain but basicly it about the refresh rate, somthing to do with set voltage and how the game cant produce that, i got the same moniter and prob with my PS3, but can you tell the diffrence between 5 and 2 ms, or is it 3?
i saw you on the mlg forums shrimpanzee and i was wondering if it is difficult and wierd playing halo 3 on such a wide screen because i was thinking about getting this monitor and then i went to office depot and saw how wide it was. I just thought it would feel weird playin halo
(This is my other account) Well I suppose it will feel weird at first if you're used to playing on standard definition TVs, but I got used to it quickly.
i've read about this before. im pretty sure if you go into the xbox dashboard settings and set the xbox to the native resolution of the viewsonic it will be fine!!!
Where can I get info on this recall? If anyone finds anything about this can they please post it. I will be looking for it myself, as I just noticed this problem and I am over the bestbuy exchange time of 30days.
If you dont realise you only need it on Advance Mode for 5ms response time, you don't need it on 2ms, The Human brain can only respond at a 7ms response time so unless your reaction time is 2ms you won't notice it.
The Product overview on the viewsonic site, Ive looked at purchasing that Moniter for my Xbox 360.
And it says when your running advance on it is responding at 5ms and on Ultra fast it responds at 2ms. And well, the human brain responds at 7ms. So I dont see your problem running it on 5ms.
Hey, firstly Happy Christmas! Secondly, I did get this monitor, and I only get this problem when above 90 contrast, which for me is too high anyway!. Apart from that its amazing. I can't tell the difference between 5ms and 2ms response time so wouldn't hesitate to recommend this monitor. I'm sorry you guys had more problems!
I play CS1.6, COD4 and TF2 (on PC).. and monitor works fine unless i want to use contrast value over 60 and use ultra-fast response same time. On advanced mode i can use max contrast and dont have any problems like this. Maybe you should return yours to retailer, cause i dont think that this problem should be this bad.
Hey, i'm getting this T.V soon and for the exact same reason you did... Have you experienced the same troubles as the guy who made this video? I'm just curious because i just wanna know if this is gonna stop me from getting this T.V... thnx
Don't bother using it for gaming. I get blur when I use VGA, and HDMI does not allow modfication of on-screen resolutions which sucks. I'll just use it as a PC monitor.
Wow... so I'm not the only one with this problem after all. I bought this monitor with the intention of using it primarily for FPS gaming, so this was a major turn off.
Only does this over HDMI to me. I don't really notice it much when I'm gaming, but it is annoying. I'll try putting the response time down, and maybe the contrast down like one suggested and see how that goes.
Yes and still have. In my case that effect isn't as bad as yours. I just tried again watched more carefully.. lowering contrast didn't solve this issue entirely, but it reduced the effect a little. I couldn't spot any artifacts while playing Halo3 or Mass Effect. I orginally spotted this contrast thing by playing counter-strike on pc.. grenades looked funny (colorfull) and i accidently lowered contrast and that solved that prob. By the way i dont have that prob on advanced mode.
I tried using HDMI, DVI, and VGA and it made no difference. Switching to "advanced" reduced it drastically for me too, but when playing CoD 4, I could definitely notice it in bright objects. Especially fire, it was almost completely pink.
It turns out that DVI has some problems too with the "ultra fast" setting. Although there is no pinkish stuff like with HDMI or VGA, there appears to be inverse ghosting.
Ok forget this I'm returning this piece of crap tomorrow.
Sorry, I accidentally removed your comment. Idk how to get it back but whatever.
To answer your question:
My graphics card doesn't have an HDMI output, but when I use a DVI to HDMI adapter and connect the HDMI to the monitor, I get the same problem. So no, HDMI doesn't work well at all.
just change the display mode from HD to PC, i cant see any different between the two apart from the fact you dont get that orange/pink stuff on the screen. plus you can still keep ultra fast response time on!

sadly mine does the pinkish thing as well with contrast over 60 at ultra fast(2ms)
My color is set to 65k.
The yellow highlight of user name and post date on comments looks pinkish instead yellow. Not sure if mine is defective or what..

does it have 1:1 pixelmapping (black bars) at 720p? thnx

No, it doesn't have 1:1, but there are no black bars at 720p because that's the same aspect ratio as the monitor (16:9).
