  • i have a standard length m1a, but mines an armscorps. it came with a crap flash suppressor that was actually crooked and i could not sight it in. got a mil takeoff from a m14, now it actually shoots straight

  • at 7:50 , Hickok says F**K YOU to a 12 pk, AWESOME!!!!!

  • Sweet. That thing's so nice.. How much? 30-06?

  • @spookypunky I got one for my father they go for 1300 or more and use a .308 win round

  • deadly accurate

  • "Hey a canalope! Who let that out here?" XD

  • I've heard people complain about the weight and that's but does the gun really overheat lot

  • Love the M14, awesome looking gun, prefer the '18 barrel of the scout version though

  • @gregvance touche

  • Hickok for Top Shot

  • I don't normally bleed on my guns. But I've been bleeding all over this synthetic stock without having to worry about it!

  • I tell ya @hickok45 ..... I wouldn't want to be the New World Order police knocking on your door when the government goes totally rouge.

  • Damn that's one big bang.

  • My wife bought me one of those for Christmas this year. I agree with everything you said!

  • im sorry mate but i am going to have to confiscate that rifle, its waaaayyy too sexy for you.

  • dear santa....

  • Is there any other caliber variant for this rifle? you said 7.62x51 like it's new. Love the video by the way :)

  • @poitertoip Nope, just 7.62 NATO

  • It breaks my heart to see such yummy watermelons being demolished.

  • Saw one of these at Gander MTN yesterday for $1800 used with even more rails with this one such a great gun but man with it was a lot cheaper I would totally buy one!

  • I got the M1A scout/squad but I want this shooting range...

  • @TaskForceTen that will be us one were old retired men haha

  • I got the Airsoft version of it.

  • my dad just got his today!

  • Good taste in guns and Cigars!

  • I'm in Germany, and it's harder to get good fruit.

I get hungry watching you shoot melons.

You should shoot cans full of shitty american beer.

  • @charlesvan13 Haha, sweet comment. XD

  • @charlesvan13 don't think German is better now?

  • Does it come in a wooden finish?!

  • And Im kinda of an expert of shooting ON melons!

  • The ants must love you.

  • This gun is so powerful ! Don t want to be the other side ... Thx for te nice video !

  • i want the scout squad version with the 18'' barrel and yes springfield is a much better gun maker than ruger

  • gotta have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is it possible to remove that whole top and rail mount and replace it with some wood (preferably walnut) furniture? I really want to just make this a nice old-fashioned-looking battle rifle - no rails or scopes, etc.

  • @that1nerfherder - Wouldn't that make it into a Scout Squad???

    I love walnut M1As!

  • @chrisfev01 Almost - I just like how it looks without any of those rails on it.

    As do I! :D

  • I love the slo-mo laugh! =D

  • BEEE MY GRANDFATHER!!!!!

  • " You can Bleed, Bleed all over it. " LOL

  • Love it. Have wanted one since they came out.

  • put a limbsaver on it, and its good to go. recoil isnt bad, but the extra inch improved the hold

  • The optimal battle cartridge was determined 50 years ago to be a 6mm-7mm caliber. The argument 5.56mm vs 7.62mm is lame. They are both intended for different purposes. 6mm-7mm caliber can do everything though. Just look at the 6.5mm grendel ballistics and cartridge size for an example.

  • @labartic

    6.5x55 is freakin great

They should make a smaller one for PDW like 6.5x25

  • does this shoot .308 as well?

  • My dad just bought me one!!!! BUT the SOCOM 16 EBR, I cannot stress how happy I am with this rifle, I know it'll be the one I'll carry during a Zombie Apocalypse! GREAT GIFT and GUN

  • Great video! I want a socom, come the tax return, It shall be mine!!

  • I really like the looks and thought of owning one of those. However it's just a bit to costly for me right now since I am out of work. Have always wanted one though. It does look like a blast to shoot (no pun intended) and would be an ideal home defense or zombie apocalypse weapon.

  • That thing is sweet!! Quick question: Which do you like better the Socom or a Ruger Mini 30

  • @BSRadar100 - Springfield quality is far superior to Ruger IMHO.

  • Ummm bleeding all over the rifle probably isnt good unless you shot someone point blank and they fell on you

  • I want an AA-12

  • @XLB1987

    Not available to civilians.

  • @Breakneckhydra1 yes it is dum dum

  • @poopshootlicker

An AA-12 is defiantly NOT available to civilians.

  • @Breakneckhydra1 not true

  • @Breakneckhydra1 it is to all you have to do is get a class 3 permit so yes it is it costs a lot but yes it

  • @Breakneckhydra1 - Um, yes, it is.. I own an M1A Standard, awesome firearm.

  • @chrisfev01

I responded to a person asking if an "AA-12 was allowed to be owned"....and I said no, I wasn't talking about the firearm in the video.

  • @Breakneckhydra1 - Oops, sorry, I misunderstood.

  • I'm perfectly capable of missing, however, the universe doesn't allow it. Trigger on Mr. Hickok.

  • where do you get your 7.62x51 ammo?

  • "I'm kind of an expert, at shooting melons."

Something we all wish to aspire to.

  • Garande of the future :O

  • This is Awesome...

  • these are beauties...my gunshop has one with the snail magazine in it.it cost about 1500 bucks.

  • Dear Santa...lol

  • The flash hider looks closer to a muzzlebrake. Is it painful to hear up close?

  • I'm gonna need a chapter 2 on this. You and I both know you want to shoot it.

  • the second i layed my eyes on it. I HAVE TO GET IT!

  • Thanks hickok45, I already have a standard M1A, but now I want this one too

  • If it wasn't so expensive, this would be my truck gun!

  • @hickok45 Several questions. If you would respond I would really appreciate it since I'm buying a rifle in a few days and this is in the running. I have heard stories of the gun exploding from putting store bought .308 rounds in it, should I worry when I get my Socom II?

And do you recommend any lubricants for the slide?

Are there any other 7.62x51 rifles you recommend?

Anyone is welcome to respond! Thanks!!!

  • @ringenberg2 I've never heard that.. maybe they put .30-06 instead of .308 through it..? I use Hoppes or WD40 on my guns, as far as .308 rifles go this gun is top shelf. You could pick up a used AR-10 or FN FAL for cheaper, but you'd be better off saving your pennies and getting the M1A.

  • @whiplashlightning .30-06 wouldn't even fit into the action.

  • Such a great video! Thank you....one day it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine!!

  • I wish i had about 1,500 bucks laying around... i hate being a poor college student :(

  • That is a nice gun!!!

  • Sweat'n like a bitch!

  • An outstanding advertisement for this rifle. Had Patton seen one, he'd have dubbed the M1A/M14, not the M1, "the greatest battlefield implement ever devised." And of course we like heavy-hitting carbines! We're Americans! Just look at how we love the Marlin 45-70s and the Mosin M38s.

  • @thezieg123

I dunno about that. The WWII British tried a carbine version of their Enfield rifle and they didn't like the increased recoil.

Since this weapon has a similar traditional stock, I can't imagine it would be much different.

  • WANT

  • @gigantamos HAVE

  • @Ninjaskino JEALOUS

  • That is one rifle that one day (even if I have to take out a loan) I will have!!!!!

  • Ricochet @ 04:48?

  • lol i'm sure your range has the greatest smell.... rotten fruit and gunpowder! :P

  • All I can say is that I am glad you are on our side :0)

    Nice shooting man.

  • i must say i love you videos and i am envious of your range. love it!

  • do you pick up and keep all the brass

  • @jeshua568 Yea he reloads a lot, he has videos on that as well

  • look as a m14 gun

  • Always loved the M1's, but with a shorter length barrel like this, it's like weaponry porn.

  • @Hickok45 do you leave your firearms oiled when you shoot them? My guess I no but the SOCOM 16 looks pretty wet?

  • life is really good and the slow mo is really funny lmao... awsome gun!!!!

  • This guy is legen....wait for it....dary.

  • Hey hickok45, love the channel. I also noticed you used .308 and 7.62x51 interchangeably. Let's not confuse people and assume those are the same round. Most.308 rounds have a higher pressure than 7.62x51. Shooting a .308 in a military rifle chambered for 7.62 could be very dangerous.

  • I still don't see the US military's reasoning for not keeping the M14 as standard issue.

  • @Cozmolyne In Vietnam, carrying the bigger 7.62x51 ammo meant less could be carried. M14 also weighed 11-12 pounds, a pain to carry around in the thick humid weather. The 7.62 round also posed significant recoil when fired on automatic.

  • @Cozmolyne One word, impracticality. I love the M14, but it just wasn't the right gun for the job. The weapon was plagued with "problems". Ranging from uncontrollability during full auto fire, weight, and it was too difficult to maneuver in the jungle environment that was Vietnam. Remember, original M14's were fixed with a 22' barrel. In my opinion, this is one of very few perfect weapons. It just wasn't plausible as a standard issue battle riffle.

  • @Cozmolyne The M-14 is still used as a DMR in some cases I think.

  • down boy!...is it legal to marry a gun Las Vegas?

  • hickok's day job is as a hitman...hehe..if he wasn't as known as he is...he'd be friggin lethal..up close and dirty..and if he had a jam..he'd use his bare hands..lol..friggin love this channel.

  • one day...

  • Would you prefer the socom 16 or (if you have shot one) the scout squad?

  • BEAUTIFUL WEAPON

  • i loved the M1 garand rifle .. and this one is the same .. just built and modified in 2011.. f**** amazing!

  • I love mines, it's a beast.

  • 6:40, they call it "The Fruit Scoot" lol. Great vid!

  • holy crap thats a sexy gun

  • hicock45, are you a Marine?

  • I would like to see (or be cited to) an M1-Garand video. :3

  • Nice video, I saw them almost all!!

The rifle that I like most is that socom.. but how much does a gun like that?

  • Badass rifle

  • hope someone gives him this for Christmas and films the reaction when he unwraps it. It would probably go viral.

  • Got to shoot one of these recently. Very accurate, reliable, fun to shoot!

  • do want. that would be such a good zombie killer

  • argle, agrle, argle... That weapon is sex weapon a stick.

  • I want one of these so badly...! I don't think I could afford the SOCOM versions, but I'd be more than happy with a standard one! :D

  • A Piss Off Hickok45+Socom 16=The last thing you will never see

  • You gun range would be disneyland for me.

  • @Douglas12982 in my case it is disneyland

and when my dad told me you want to go to disney or the range i said the range (not real)

  • @7lopezv Too many people at Disneyland. Hard to walk......or breathe.....It wasn't a magical experience for me, but, on a tricked out gun range, It is way more than magical.

  • @Douglas12982 got that right!!! lol

  • Is there a special license need for that cannon

  • it is the best rifle i have ever had the privilege to own but at 2000$ usd a piece its a lil pricey

  • @pugluver1000 Sorry man, I thumbs downed you, I meant to press reply. Sorry again.

I was really hoping it cost like 900bucks, I figured i was a little low. Beautiful weapon.

  • @freehling420 oh its fine dont worry about it but yeah i was kinda shocked at the price too

  • Cantaloups are notoriously tough and cunning. I've seen them play dead for days only to spring up and take out an unsuspecting human. I spent years fighting them in the Lunkatauba Melon War. We lost a lot of good men out there...

  • @FlyingPancreas That was beautiful.

  • @FlyingPancreas Hahaha I like this guy.

  • @xxxMRxxxFAILxxx The longer barrel M1A can hit 1000+ yards easily. The SOCOM does 600-700 max.

  • I assume it takes the magazines as the M14? Sorry if it's a stupid question I'm new to this series of rifles

  • 5:25 YOUR HEAD.

  • Hickok, I have a choice to purchase either this gun, or a Russian AKS-74U Krinkov, both for roughly the same price. Wich do you think would be a more worthy investment?

  • That gun is amazing!

  • A melon is a soft target for those cartridges.

    You need more bowling pins.

  • cool video

  • @xxxMRxxxFAILxxx ....im not great but have little problem hitting the 600m silhouette consistently 90%+ using a 2-7x long eye relief scope....right now it is dialed in for some hunting loads, slightly faster burn on the powder (less of a flamethrower), same muzzle velocity but slightly lower trajectory....bulk ammo easy to dial

not to correct hickok45 but it is not a flash suppressor....it is a muzzle break and top notch at that....reduces recoil and barrel lift amazingly well

  • one thing to remember, keep your ammo 165gr or preferably less, like 155/145....if too much heavier than 165 the accuracy & precision will suffer dramatically with the short barrel....but again, im not expert, just my experience

  • @F250badgirl thats helpfull to me

  • @MrPSDShooter ....'they' do, its called a mini14 by ruger

  • I want one of these so bad!

  • how much is one of these beautiful rifles? i have only 810 dollers so how much would i need?

  • @APhelps91 2200

  • @APhelps91 about 700 more before taxes, but imo, its well worth it.. might even be cheaper versions besides the socom.. have you check guns of america, gun broker, or gallery of guns ever? :)

  • @airic554 i dont think i have but i have decided with what ima get ima buy the Bushmaster M4A3 its a good price i can make that rifle better if i want to and it looks nice

  • @APhelps91 nice they make a great rifle, not going wrong there :)

  • The Socom 16 is a sweet rifle. I regret selling mine, especially since it had a low serial number on it.

  • what a beautiful weapon.

  • What's the price, need to compare it to other 7.62 NATO autoloaders.

  • hickok would you consider the socom 16 m1a to be a reliable weapon? in terms of utilizing this weapon in a shtf situation.

  • @blazinpapid I shot this exact rifle today... It is deff fun to shoot....

  • 10 people touched the barrel when he said not to

  • looks like a mix.m1 garand m1 carbine and m14

  • I love this super cool gun.

  • hickok45 is THE MAN.

  • and if u buy can u own in the state of WI

  • whats the price ??

  • 16" m1a. most fun you can have with your clothes on..

  • life is good :D

  • I apologize if I offend you, but do you always "kill" melons and 2 liters with a 7.62x51 at a LONG range of under 100 meters? I would like to see some real shooting beyond 300 to 500 meters. What type of ammunition were you discharging? I will agree that it must be a fun firearm to put lead down range with. Again Sir, no offense, but I would have liked a little more info. Thank you.

  • @MrM4Guy I had fun once, it was horrible.

  • i got to shoot one recently, the first time. kicks hard, but you know it will knock a big hole in what you are shooting at. i would love to have one of my own.

  • that rifle kind of looks like a Garand to me

  • @Skitzo520 its a modern version

  • is there any ranged/power difference between the carbine version and the M1A/M14

  • damn, are u ex-special forces? your shooting accurate is impressive!

  • SPRINGFIELD IS THE SH!T!!!

  • "That watermelon took two hits, that's all right." Implying it should have exploded in one...

  • At 11:03 an orgasm...

  • ty very much ....i was on the fence with this untill i seen ya video....im ordering one this week ty
