  • this guy is amazing...

  • Thanks - subscribed....

  • Awesome!

  • You are amazing, thanks! :)

  • I really like all your videos. Thanks

  • Wow!

  • This is awesome :D

  • this is amazing, such a simple process that makes such a dramatic effect.

  • Thank you so much. Every video I learn something new. Cheers mate

  • Great Vid! Can this all be done directly from Photoshop?

  • can this be done in elements 9?

  • Wicked

  • this doesnt work when you have complex formations in your photo like trees :/

  • @RemovdSande11 try to put the layer mask onto the brighter image instead of the dark one. Also watch some masking tuts here on YouTube.

  • @RemovdSande11 sure it does, just make sure you're using a feathered brush when adjusting the mask.

  • Fantastic use of Photoshop. Far better than my Auto Exposure Bracketing results

  • thanks for this video

  • 0:14 , 6:54

  • @megakid5000 i see what he did there -.-

  • And goes to show we can ALL make mistakes and instead of criticising it would be nice to overlook typos and stick to the subject at hand, namely the great tutorial. @ManCamRa, my apologies, it was FreeCrackerHD I was replying to.

  • @ManCamRa - Yes, Voila it is but I guess people DO make mistakes don't they, ManCamRa? "Tipe?" Try "type" sometime.

  • OMG g8 video...... thx

  • Wow. Excellent explanation. A question though-- Do you tend, in a shot such as this, to overexpose a bit and then bring it back down or underexpose and bring it back up?

  • Watched it, tried it, Viola, Can't thank you enough.

  • @ManCamRa

its voila,... just in case you didn't tipe it wrong,...

  • Thank you...so very helpful. Your videos have added a calculation when working with camera raw. Especially liked the vid showing how you decide to shoot from different angles [interior of a home]. Demonstrating so clearly what was the effect of each angle gave me a new perspective of composition. I've only seen 2 of your videos, so eagerly looking forward to following your links.

  • Thanks so so much :) Nice voice as well :)

  • AMAZING SIR

  • He's taking the photo by using Raw file, so when he bring the photo to photoshop, the camera raw plugin of photoshop will open.

  • Are all the features needed to do this included in Photoshop Elements 10?

  • @Amnak08 Camera Raw !

  • what version is this photoshop? i can't find the option you where using to brighten the picture at the beginning...

  • what was the thing in photoshop you opened at first to fix the exposure and stuff ??

  • And this is why no didgtal photograph will ever be considered a master piece. Nice video though.

  • great work gavin! your videos are really helpful and have taken my photography to a whole new level! big fan of your work!!

  • has hoping for something more technical, fed up of this same technique

  • that was freakin amazing o_o

  • Technic is called as LDR aka "pseudo HDR".

  • Thank you SO much!

  • did someone mention that you are a genius?

    no?

you are genius! and a great teacher! open your own photography school! that would be perfect :) thank you for this video

  • nice, has anyone ever told you that you sound like David Mitchell?

  • thank you so much Gavin ;)

  • Did you know that this process is easier if you open the raw file as a smart object (by holding shift when clickling Open) and then duplicating the layer, allowing you to edit both layers as real raw files in Camera Raw - still in Photoshop.

  • Gavin, youre like the Bob Ross of photoshopXD Great tutorial!

  • Love your work Gavin, all your tutorials and advices how to take better pictures they amezing, keep up the good work..

  • Dirtiest sensor ever!

  • Wow, I thought there had tobe hours of Photoshop work behind this picture... It's just amazing!!! Thank you, Gavin, I hope you will do more tutorials like that!

  • Beautifully explanied Gavin. Easy to understand and really inspiring. Thank you.

  • Absolutely love this video. Its answered so many questions. Love it love it love it.

    Thanks :)

  • Great video, Gavin. Would this process be effective for landscapes as well?

  • HI Gavin, how are you finding the 5dmark2? I'm really impressed with the quality but I feel a bit let down by the focus compared to the 7d

  • HI Gavin, how are you finding the 5dmark2? I'm really impressed with the quality but I feel a bit let down by the focus compared to the 7d

  • This was great! You always show me something new :) THX

  • Very nice! Thanks! But how do you make such nice border you used on the end there?

  • Wow! I've been meaning to try this effect in a while and this tutorial made it seem easy to do. One question, the photo must be in RAW, yes?

  • Great video as usual Gavin thanks for the tips.

  • Thanks Gavin, great as usual.

  • thank you so much awesome

  • I don't know if you've updated or not by now, but just in case you haven't seen it yet, Camera Raw 6.3 is out. ^_^

Thank you a lot for the tutorial btw. It's very helpful and makes the images look amazing.

  • absolutely great!

that is exactly i have been trying to learn.

    thanks

  • It is not really photography anymore to me....

  • @mreinstein48 it say HDR effect bro, u have to do this if u wanna get HDR image.

  • @mreinstein48 it is what it is, stick to film or deal with change

  • @mreinstein48 This happens in all forms of photography. In the darkroom dodging and burning takes place . . . more or less what is happening here! You seem to have a very rigid idea of what photography is and is not! Still, you're entitled to your opinion/

  • Great stuff, Gavin. I'm not even a photographer. I just love to see your work :)

  • Gavin your the man

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge... You make me enjoy photography even more.. =0)

  • u rock man! ive learned a lot from u. thank u :)

  • You are such an inspirations Gavin. My photography skill have been much improved since I discovered your channel. I don't even have Photoshop but eventually when I do I'm sure I will be watching all of your videos again. Cheer! Oh I'm not English either hahaha.

  • fantastic Gavin. thanks.

  • Nice video Gavin

  • Great video!! Thanks Gavin!!

  • wow this was a very useful tutorial.. i hope i can try that soon :D nice work! thank you

  • Canon vs Nikon, what are your thoughts?

  • As always, a great tutorial! I noticed the pic you showed at 0:24 has a gold-ish hue on the left side of the pic but we don't see that in the final product at the end of the video. Was the change in hue a result of different processing perhaps or something else?

  • I do prefer to do this technuique rarther than using preset HDR programs such as Photomatix.

  • wow really nice Gavin!!!!!

  • Ah ah ah, I liked how you kept the very last "click" before the fade-out.

Brilliant in photography, brilliant in videos too!

  • @JWK3 i do a update on my photoshop ....maybe he give's me the camera raw ...thanks man

  • Thanks Galvin, great video.

  • Thanks Galvin, great video

  • What would be the difference between this and throwing it into a HDR tool?

  • I am a new subscribee and must say that your work is amazing

  • man please tell me...when i can find the camera raw??

  • @dariusdarius15 adobe camera raw comes with the more modern versions of photoshop (and maybe photoshop elements?)

  • Great work gavin. i learnt all my photoshop skills from you, and think u explian everthing greatly. just straight faward vids no messing about. GREAT WORK AND THANKS!

  • Thank you so much for showing us this and presenting such a high quality video!

  • ur the best!

  • Hi Gavin

How to create a frame like yours at the end of the video? Because you clicked a few times and the result was perfect.

  • COOOOOOOOL! great! thanks for your knowledge!!

  • Thanks Gavin!

  • Thats really usefull,,,,,thanks Gavin..

  • I think we all understand: there's art in the capture of the original photo, then there's at of processing. U don't have to do both...

  • in my opinion thats a little too much editing for a photo. sure, some people may like it and many will find this very useful but i kind of think that this has more become photoediting rather than photo taking. just too much difference between what was taken and what was created in CS5

  • wow...... now thats damned useful. Marvellous touch with the Birds, I would of discarded that idea as being too difficult to achieve..... now I know its quite easy. Brilliant!

  • nice!

can some1 tell me where i can find a photo with birds like gavin's photo?

that image is good for anything:D:D

  • @E8gndov Just look out the window... that's what I did :-)

  • @PhotoGavin thx i ll try

  • @PhotoGavin LOL!

  • @E8gndov Look for brushes, I'm sure you'll find some. Search for something along the lines of "wild life brushes".

  • @TalesOfWar thx

  • @E8gndov google "birds". i found an image of birds that look like the ones here for something i did a couple years ago.

  • @E8gndov Google?

  • @E8gndov deviantart com

  • I love this photo

  • This was great! I keep a lens pen cleaning kit on me at all times to combat that dust problem ;)

  • @SpeckyNation Shooting with small apertures (like f22 here) you'll always see more dust. I also have an arctic butterfly brush which I used the day before the shoot... but clearly not well enough :-(

  • @PhotoGavin lol, don't feel bad. That's what photoshop is for :)

  • Maybe you should learn a little about HDR before teaching, why didn't you remove the halo's? It's a common beginner mistake.

  • @Pjuker What halos? Looks great to me.

  • Thank you! xD

  • thanks a lot! :D

  • Thanks Gavin! Going to need to go look for some bad photos to fix like this! Love that HDR!

  • Nice work Gavin ! Will you be doing some more 15 min challenges soon? These are really good. I think that you should also challenge young Jared polin to also do one of those !

  • @philbeav More videos are coming including more 15 minute photo challenges. Keep watching :-)

  • @PhotoGavin WOW!!! Thanks in advance :)

  • Thanks for this :)

  • now do that for next 300 photos like this to make a very nice album :)

  • thanks dude

  • thks dude

  • why didn't you use the brush tool with less opacity and flow ...???!!!

  • Fantastic Work! Thanks!

  • these are awesome tutorials!

  • Wow - That's great. Thanks...

  • loved it!

  • cool tutorial gav! love ya work mate!

  • The programme is Photoshop CS5 extended I believe. Quite a handy programme.

  • great tutorial! :)

  • great tutorial... thanks mate for answering my question

  • bravo Gavin.. well done..

  • Wouldn't it have been better to feather the selection to blend the 2 images together?

  • @max7164 Not in this case. Feathering will soften the whole edge an equal amount, but I wanted more softness on some parts and less on others.

  • thanks gavin

  • what programe is that??? its kinda like LIGHTROOM

  • @ShawnJeanThomasWolfe Photoshop - when you import a RAW file it opes Adobe Camera Raw, which is a part of Photoshop

  • Interesting, I learnt a couple of new things, well 3 infact.

  • Same here but all videos seem black - YouTube may have a problem

  • @TamwedOrg refresh twice in row (like dubleclick on mause) or press f5 f5 real fast(same ting) that somtimes fixes the problem

  • OMG i cant watch the video?

it's just black and the other videos also do not work :(

  • What a great final photo! I'm glad I'm subbed to this channel!

  • this is the nice one. like it. where did You get those birds image?

  • You can SHIFT-CLICK to disable the mask =)

  • So you added a flock of birds in Photoshop... What about photographic integrity?

  • This was really interesting, I will try this next time I go shooting (pictures)

  • I tried this and my photo looked great :D

  • Finally man (:

    And as allways, nice tut.

  • Great Video as ever.

Long time was waiting for one
