I agree with hlgrice, I own Ruger p90, SR9C, and G23. All 100% reliable and accurate. For the money, I would buy an SR series Ruger over another Glock.
Ruger, Sig, and Sigma are better than glocks. glocks are over rated, the first thing people do is change or should i say upgrade the trigger barrel and slide. A great gun need no changes.
i've got a ruger p95 9mm and it has jammed ever since i bought it 'new in the box' at a local gun show. made me think i was shooting wrong but, took it to a reputible gun dealer today and they fired and examined it. turns out the extractor was messed up. i don't know if the fellow who sold it to me knew if it was a lemon or not but, evidently rugers have lifetime gaurantee and i was told to mail it for repair or replacement. my old man has same model minus the de-cock and it's never jammed
@andrademeza lol somebody put that same comment on my review vid of my 5906. apparently they're the shit. wouldn't trade mine for the world, but i wouldn't mind having both...:)
Ruger>Glock in comfort and style. Glock>Ruger for corrosion resistance and accessories. Reliability on either weapon will vary from person to person. I have over 1300 combined rounds through my SR9 and LCP with no jams. My buddies Glock 17 has jammed twice in roughly 600 rounds.
@big4x4mudder Ruger's are not half the price. They're only about a hundred bucks cheaper. AND you could just buy a used glock. Glocks are beasts. I'd recomend the glock 21sf .45acp. I can shoot a nickel sized grouping at 21 feet with one right outta the box. The recoil is perfect! At least for me. I was very unimpressed with the rugers. Especially their triggers and muzzle flash. The SR-9 had such bad muzzle flash with regular rounds that i had issues finding my aim after each shot.
@letmeseethat1 I had a glock 17 for a couple years but after my dad got a new ruger p95dc for $300 I traded him streight across( I paid $500 for the glock so not half the price but more then $100) .
Love Ruger wheel guns, my sp101 is one of my favorite pocket guns. That being said, if I'm carrying an auto, it will be one of my Glocks. I just cant get in to Ruger Autos.
I have both, and like them both. But,the Glock is better,in my opinion. I wish I would have got the Glock in .40 S&W,also. But,I did'nt have a 9mm at the time,so I decided to go with the Glock 17,no real regrets,It's as fine a weapon as they come!
Limiting yourself to one brand of gun is like limiting yourself to a brand of car, if you love ford or chevy and they come out with a p.o.s. youre screwed when you buy it just because of your loyalty to them.
As you can see from my pic i have a P95...but i love my G34....it beats the P95 hands down...but with that said i can also say that the new SR9 would put a race to the Glock...and the 9mm ammo has gotten much better as time has gone by.
P.S your pistol grip technic is wrong my bro..check vids on proper grip alignment.
omg guns are loud? no guns aren't loud you're bullshiting you don't know anything about guns............... I know it's hearing protection I'm asking what kind
Well, my responce was from what your original post stated and from the videos you have posted. You don't seem to be much of a gun expert and I assume you don't know why handguns are louder compared to long rifles... So i still stand by my comment.
handguns are not always louder compared to long rifles, it depends on the length of the barrel and caliber of the round. A .22 in a pistol is not going to be nearly as loud as a .308, but being the gun expert you are I'm sure you would know that. Bet you put "clips" in your pistols too LOL. BTW is the poster ever going to answer the original question?
Of course i am talking of similar calibre rifles and pistols but of course you would not be smart enough to reason properly. I don't know if you even shoot but I am a competition shooter. "Clips" haha thats a joke, good luck with your life bud cya.
i like the rugers over the glocks. I own a P89 and a P90 and wouldn't take 3 glocks for the 2 rugers. Just don't like the feel of a glock, and i hit much better with the ruger.
Thats a hard choice. I own a SR-9 (Ruger) and I love it. The glock has a very smooth shot just like the Ruger and they're both compact pistols so thats a hard choice. Rugers and Glocks are very reliable weapons.
The SR9 is a very nice looking and shooting pistol. If that's what you like get it. As for me I wouldn't give up my Glock 19, 21 or 36 for any other pistol. It's jus a matter of what you like. Most of todays pistols are very accurate and reliable. I owned a Ruger P-85 for years. Great gun very reliabe but not in the same ball park as the new SR9 or a Glock.
Ruger, but I'm biased. If I had a glock, that's what I'd vote. If I could afford one! Got my Ruger P-85 for almost half of what I could have bought a comparable glock for. It's almost 50% heavier, but I'm not a CCW guy yet so that doesn't matter. The lower felt recoil is actually quite nice and makes the gun MORE accurate than if it were lighter. I love the look of the gun as well. Very American.
I've shot the SR9 and it takes some getting used to, but I'm just as accurate with it as anything.
I vote for Ruger, (American Made) Glock is an import. Glock success is do to it's creative marketing. Just about any gun will stand up to the torture test that they do to the glocks..

the first ruger i used... jammed. first glock i shot shot every round! rugers are trash... police always use SIG's, Glocks, H&K's, and Berettas... and other good guns, why buy a ruger unless it was on sale, such a bad rep.
actually this is not true. Many police and military groups use a ruger of some kind. A ruger will jam (like any gun) with a cheap aftermarket mag; I think they may be more sensitive than average. Also, a .22 pistol is liable to jam no matter what you do, for one because the ammo is almost always cheap plinker ammo and two it's such a small recoil.
I have a ruger p97 and I have regulary outshot glock owners in .45 ACP caliber. I can go toe-to-toe with anything except a Sig or a custom tricked out 1911. The p97 just feels right in the hand.
A standard Ruger model will shoot as accurately as a standard Glock model. Mechanically, they will produce about the same accuracy. After that, it's up to the shooter.
The LCP is no competition, though. The Glock lineup has more to offer in the sub-compact market, so it's a no-brainer choice for Glock on that one.
Admittedly it's a biased statement on my part. I don't like the way the ruger feels, and I've never seen anyone with an SR9 out shoot a GLOCK...but I've only seen a limited number of people compete with them, so who knows.
The SR9 is still relatively new to the market...so I suppose time and sales will be the best indicator.
I don't have personal experience with the SR9. I own a P series (P95 9x19mm), and I will always recommend them as I believe they are the best of the less expensive pistols on the market.
I just like the simplicity of the Glock..its no thrills but when it comes to a defensive point and shoot the Glock all the way....with the zombies i will have my Glock model 22 40 cal, and my SKS rifle.
i have a semi auto browning shotgun that the wife can use on the zombies if they come through the back door...
im a big fan of the glock 40. my friend is a local cop were i live and the glock 40 is his service pistol. nothing better then a weekend filled of shooting of ammo that tax money payed for
Can't seem to get into the .40 cal, had a comoact sig and the recoil was a bitch. So i would def go with the 9mm. With todays defensive +P rounds theyll do just fine!
@daddymonster333 lol for real. Whats up w/ all the people wanting to kill zombies. lol. So weird how one little idea can inspire so many movies to be made and so many people that are facinated by it. Not my preferable reality... for sure lol.
@daddymonster333 ya, there is this whole subculture of people that really think a disease will come about to cause a real zombie outbreak...i think most people just like the whole survivial idea of what they would do if it ever really happened...thats all, I must admit i am one of them.
@Diabolik771 Oh no... There are going to be way too many zombies when they come... 10+1 rounds of .40S&W, or 17+1 rounds of 9mm? I'm going with the Ruger SR9. That's seven additional dead( dead-er?) zombies.
You gotta be joking the Ruger P series is thicker then a Glock. Glock is thinner then all Ruger P series in every caliber. If u want slim a slim 9mm go with the Ruger SR9.Much slimmer then the Glock 17 and the Ruger P95.Despite the SR9 recall it a great pistol. It competes with the Glock 17 at a more affordable price.
ya know i didn't mean to cause such a stir, but i am the one shoting the ruger and well. first the the glock doesn't jam because it it has tighter toleraces to keep dirt out and the ruger well it's a tank you just can;t stop it, it's why i bought one. so there!!!
+1 For those that don't know, the Ruger P95 was actually first produced as Ruger's offering to the US military for a standard issue side arm. While it was beaten out by the Beretta, it's still a super nice pistol and yes, a tank!! You just can't go wrong with a ruger, particularly the P95..... super nice gun!
Almost forgot to mention that the P95, or at least the one's I've fired have the smoothest trigger action of any gun I've ever used, way better than my Hi Power.
@daddymonster333 I have a p 95 and they are tanks. A lot of people make fun of them b/c they are bulky but I shoot mine really good and i like it a lot
I like the Ruger better, I have shot a Glock 9mm and Ruger 9mm. The Ruger is made more for both right handers and left handers, and being a left hander, the Ruger fits me.
i like em both but i would probably prefer a glock, even know i havnt shot one and i have shot a ruger 9mm p89, i own one. the ruger is incredibly accurate and never jammed after 1500 rounds so far, no joke, but i heard glock is even better.

my fucking glock does not have a stupid fucking key you ignorant dip shit the gun has one fucking safety and it is your damn trigger finger u really showed how stupid you are quit reading the owners book and go buy a real gun cause rugers suck compared to a glock. you damn city folk need to quit reading and start shooting i have been shooting guns for 25 years and i do know what the fuck im talking about so if you really believe everything you see on youtube you are a real dumbass.
if your own 4 year old shoots you with your own service pistol your a dumb ass and needed to be gotten ride of. glocks dont jam there is no saftey except your trigger finger and that is why they are so good don't be mad cause you couldnt afford one.
glocks do not jam they are built with a losser tolerance then most guns to keep them from jaming if they are such a shitty gun how come most police dept issue them as a service pistol, answer that one dumbass and don't give me there only 500ish.
Glocks do not have loose tolerances, most police use glocks because when they came out in the 80s they blew any other double action type only type pistol and yes they are only $500ish, I own one.
glocks do have a slightly looser tolerance in the loading chamber of the barrel, it is for case swelling and if a shell should break open. glocks are still better then a ruger, a smith and wesson, and a beretta any day of the week, they are more reliable and in the opinion of many cops, military, and sportsman they are the top pistol to have when the shit hits the fan. cum swapper what are we in the 5th grade again your really a dipshit and a dumbass also have a nice fucking day.
The smith and Wesson m&P is awesome, all brass expands in the guns chamber and the glock is not a widely used military pistol. dumbass again? Nice ad hominem response
r u fucking retarded glocks have 3 safeties 1. the key under the grip so it cant be cocked loaded or dissembled with out the key turned back 2. the firing pin is solid , hardened and secure state which means it wont fire with out u pulling the trigger and 3. the trigger has a double action safety so it cant go of if its hit from the side and if u half pull the trigger and then release it all the safety's reengage so learn what the fuck your talking about be for u talk shit
i just got ruger p95dc in a trade ,it came with an oldschool baby 30-30 marlin i think i got a pretty good deal, traded one of my px4s got them in trade for a ps3 40g setup, love trades, u always get better deals
My point is simply this.. Accidents happen to the best of us, even those that are well trained! That being said I think any auto pistol should be made as safe as possible. I knew about the Glocks Internal safety beforehand, owned a model 22 in 40cal. I was referring to the fact they do not use a conventional external safety, which "IMO" is much safer than that of the Glock. I understand accident's can happen with both setups! But I feel a true trigger disconnect is safer bet!
first off no accidents. Second its only safe with your finger off the trigger. last thought this vid has 26,000 hit,yet it sucks, and that's coming from me
@nitehawk85 I feel I am more likley to die trying to get my gun off saftey while some dirtbag is shooting at me those little external safteys are to finikey when your under stess and youve lost all fine motor skills glocks sigs fnp's usp's all u do is draw and shoot. and hope u live to tell about it god for bid it has to come to that but its a reality we some people face in their lives and when they do and they grab for that glock u can bet they are glad they dont have a saftey to deal with
I have several Rugers in my collection, P-90,P944 and a P-97. I have yet to have the first stove pipe, or malfunction from any of them after many rounds! I own other brands like Springfield, Smith etc.. even a Glock model 22 for a short while until I traded it off. The Glocks do function well but the lack of a safety and a few other things just turned me away! I still own all my Rugers and will continue to own them for years to come!!
glocks have safeties they are internal they disengage as you you pull the trigger,,so a glock wont fire until you pull the trigger, now that being said when there is a accidental discharge its usually cuz some dumb ass pulled the trigger
Here in Tn a few years ago a young cop was shot and killed accidentally with his duty weapon by his 4 year old son. It was a Glock model 22 equipped with an "internal safety" mechanism...I wonder which one you would consider the "dumb ass" In this tragedy?
the cop,,,for leaving a loaded weapon where a child could gain access,,,,,these types of accidents happen with guns that have external safeties as well,,,,I wasn't trying to make you mad,,,,but you stated glocks did not have a safety and that's simply not true
I have a ruger p85 mkII 9mm and a glock 9mm. Don't get me wrong both are nice guns but the ruger is more accurate and in my opinion looks nicer and handles better than the glock. Not to mention a much better price!
ruger all the way, I've got a KP-90 thats had well over 5000 rounds throuh it and never had a misfeed or failure to fire. and I refuse to buy another Glock, had one and in one box of ammo(50) it misfed 4 times
I wouldn't reccomend the lcp, you will regret it. I have talked to several people who have had problems and regretted getting it because of jams. Ruger is a good gun at a good price no doubt! I have just been a glock man my whole life, rugged, reliable, accurate and there cust. support is great!
I had a student come through my class and his striker indicator had broken off. He said it was made out of plastic. I love Rugers and I've shot the SR9 but i didn't take it down myself. Notice any problems like that? Have you heard of anything like that happening before? I'm not sure if it was a manifacturing defect or if he just reassembled it incorrectly.
Nope, never had heard anyone have there striker indicator broken off...but I've noticed that alot of people are having problems with the mag release (including me) the sucker is pretty hard to press in compared to the other Rugers I've looked at, at the store... Overall I like the SR9 its slim and fits perfect in my hand.
Ruger sr9 has had a recall problem, you may want to call them I'm sure they will help, their cust. support is good! I own a ruger p95dc 9mm, and a glock 22 .40 cal. Hands down glock is a more reliable gun!! Ruger is more fun to shoot and I'm more accurate w/ruger.

but the main problem was the grip on the glock is poor all polymor no rubber
so after this i got A-Grip on it so now its fine to shoot with no grip

later for people to see, its fun to shoot 9mm in glocks no recoil at all

Generally speaking GLOCK will beat any Ruger semi-auto of the corrosponding caliber.
An exception to that might be the Ruger LCP, which gives GLOCK sub-compacts a run for their money.
alterack 2 years ago
Based on what?
A standard Ruger model will shoot as accurately as a standard Glock model. Mechanically, they will produce about the same accuracy. After that, it's up to the shooter.
The LCP is no competition, though. The Glock lineup has more to offer in the sub-compact market, so it's a no-brainer choice for Glock on that one.
millerusaf 2 years ago
Admittedly it's a biased statement on my part. I don't like the way the ruger feels, and I've never seen anyone with an SR9 out shoot a GLOCK...but I've only seen a limited number of people compete with them, so who knows.
The SR9 is still relatively new to the market...so I suppose time and sales will be the best indicator.
alterack 2 years ago
I don't have personal experience with the SR9. I own a P series (P95 9x19mm), and I will always recommend them as I believe they are the best of the less expensive pistols on the market.
millerusaf 2 years ago
I've never owned a P95 but I've shot one a few times. Those things are built like tanks.
alterack 2 years ago
I just like the simplicity of the Glock..its no thrills but when it comes to a defensive point and shoot the Glock all the way....with the zombies i will have my Glock model 22 40 cal, and my SKS rifle.
i have a semi auto browning shotgun that the wife can use on the zombies if they come through the back door...

"...with the zombies..."
Ahaha. I love it.

im a big fan of the glock 40. my friend is a local cop were i live and the glock 40 is his service pistol. nothing better then a weekend filled of shooting of ammo that tax money payed for

Not my preferable reality... for sure lol.
letmeseethat1 10 months ago
@daddymonster333 ya, there is this whole subculture of people that really think a disease will come about to cause a real zombie outbreak...i think most people just like the whole survivial idea of what they would do if it ever really happened...thats all, I must admit i am one of them.

@Diabolik771 exactly that is why i am stocking up on fire arms for when the zombies come i will be ready.
dcextreme4x4 1 year ago
@Diabolik771 LOL and i would say for zombies 9mm would be best for the capacity and accuracy
n1ggerofdeath 1 year ago
@Diabolik771 Oh no... There are going to be way too many zombies when they come... 10+1 rounds of .40S&W, or 17+1 rounds of 9mm? I'm going with the Ruger SR9. That's seven additional dead( dead-er?) zombies.
tayloredengineering 5 months ago
You gotta be joking the Ruger P series is thicker then a Glock. Glock is thinner then all Ruger P series in every caliber. If u want slim a slim 9mm go with the Ruger SR9.Much slimmer then the Glock 17 and the Ruger P95.Despite the SR9 recall it a great pistol. It competes with the Glock 17 at a more affordable price.
nelsonboy707 2 years ago 3
Itching to have a look at the SR9..none in NZ yet but looks to be built like all Rugers...tough!
Hate to say it,if I had the choice of a Glock or Ruger to take into battle,I would load the Ruger and take the Glock to throw at the enemy.....
saltydog45 2 years ago
I love my Ruger SR9. It doesn't have the rattle, like the P series pistols. It's built Ruger....tough! Check out my field stripping video.
nelsonboy707 2 years ago
glock 23 is the superior .40 cal pistol with a high reliability and a 13 round magazine
p117853 2 years ago
ya know i didn't mean to cause such a stir, but i am the one shoting the ruger and well. first the the glock doesn't jam because it it has tighter toleraces to keep dirt out and the ruger well it's a tank you just can;t stop it, it's why i bought one. so there!!!
daddymonster333 2 years ago
+1 For those that don't know, the Ruger P95 was actually first produced as Ruger's offering to the US military for a standard issue side arm. While it was beaten out by the Beretta, it's still a super nice pistol and yes, a tank!! You just can't go wrong with a ruger, particularly the P95..... super nice gun!
the4ofme 2 years ago
Almost forgot to mention that the P95, or at least the one's I've fired have the smoothest trigger action of any gun I've ever used, way better than my Hi Power.
the4ofme 2 years ago
@daddymonster333 I have a p 95 and they are tanks. A lot of people make fun of them b/c they are bulky but I shoot mine really good and i like it a lot

zunkfunkt 3 years ago
Glocks have a lot of things going for it, but you can't say the Ruger P-Series sucks because they are some of the most reliable pistols out there.
dobravery 3 years ago 3
I like the Ruger better, I have shot a Glock 9mm and Ruger 9mm. The Ruger is made more for both right handers and left handers, and being a left hander, the Ruger fits me.
volume041 3 years ago
i like em both but i would probably prefer a glock, even know i havnt shot one and i have shot a ruger 9mm p89, i own one. the ruger is incredibly accurate and never jammed after 1500 rounds so far, no joke, but i heard glock is even better.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
my fucking glock does not have a stupid fucking key you ignorant dip shit the gun has one fucking safety and it is your damn trigger finger u really showed how stupid you are quit reading the owners book and go buy a real gun cause rugers suck compared to a glock. you damn city folk need to quit reading and start shooting i have been shooting guns for 25 years and i do know what the fuck im talking about so if you really believe everything you see on youtube you are a real dumbass.
nippler1979 3 years ago
if your own 4 year old shoots you with your own service pistol your a dumb ass and needed to be gotten ride of. glocks dont jam there is no saftey except your trigger finger and that is why they are so good don't be mad cause you couldnt afford one.
nippler1979 3 years ago
glocks can jam and they are only $500ish is not like its a sig sauer or a H&K
badgerattoadhall 3 years ago
glocks do not jam they are built with a losser tolerance then most guns to keep them from jaming if they are such a shitty gun how come most police dept issue them as a service pistol, answer that one dumbass and don't give me there only 500ish.
nippler1979 3 years ago
Glocks do not have loose tolerances, most police use glocks because when they came out in the 80s they blew any other double action type only type pistol and yes they are only $500ish, I own one.
There was no call for the "dumbass" cum swapper.
badgerattoadhall 3 years ago
glocks do have a slightly looser tolerance in the loading chamber of the barrel, it is for case swelling and if a shell should break open. glocks are still better then a ruger, a smith and wesson, and a beretta any day of the week, they are more reliable and in the opinion of many cops, military, and sportsman they are the top pistol to have when the shit hits the fan. cum swapper what are we in the 5th grade again your really a dipshit and a dumbass also have a nice fucking day.
nippler1979 3 years ago
The smith and Wesson m&P is awesome, all brass expands in the guns chamber and the glock is not a widely used military pistol. dumbass again? Nice ad hominem response
badgerattoadhall 3 years ago
r u fucking retarded glocks have 3 safeties 1. the key under the grip so it cant be cocked loaded or dissembled with out the key turned back 2. the firing pin is solid , hardened and secure state which means it wont fire with out u pulling the trigger and 3. the trigger has a double action safety so it cant go of if its hit from the side and if u half pull the trigger and then release it all the safety's reengage so learn what the fuck your talking about be for u talk shit

But I feel a true trigger disconnect is safer bet!
nitehawk85 3 years ago
first off no accidents. Second its only safe with your finger off the trigger. last thought this vid has 26,000 hit,yet it sucks, and that's coming from me
daddymonster333 3 years ago
@nitehawk85 I feel I am more likley to die trying to get my gun off saftey while some dirtbag is shooting at me those little external safteys are to finikey when your under stess and youve lost all fine motor skills glocks sigs fnp's usp's all u do is draw and shoot. and hope u live to tell about it god for bid it has to come to that but its a reality we some people face in their lives and when they do and they grab for that glock u can bet they are glad they dont have a saftey to deal with

SUPRaTT2007 3 years ago 2
I have several Rugers in my collection, P-90,P944 and a P-97. I have yet to have the first stove pipe, or malfunction from any of them after many rounds! I own other brands like Springfield, Smith etc.. even a Glock model 22 for a short while until I traded it off. The Glocks do function well but the lack of a safety and a few other things just turned me away! I still own all my Rugers and will continue to own them for years to come!!
nitehawk85 3 years ago
Ditto
aldexrey 3 years ago
glocks have safeties they are internal they disengage as you you pull the trigger,,so a glock wont fire until you pull the trigger, now that being said when there is a accidental discharge its usually cuz some dumb ass pulled the trigger
jokes63 3 years ago
Here in Tn a few years ago a young cop was shot and killed accidentally with his duty weapon by his 4 year old son. It was a Glock model 22 equipped with an "internal safety" mechanism...I wonder which one you would consider the "dumb ass" In this tragedy?
nitehawk85 3 years ago
the cop,,,for leaving a loaded weapon where a child could gain access,,,,,these types of accidents happen with guns that have external safeties as well,,,,I wasn't trying to make you mad,,,,but you stated glocks did not have a safety and that's simply not true

but im still think of getting a ruger LCP to replace my P3AT if it has a shorter trigger pull
turboMATRIX03 4 years ago
I wouldn't reccomend the lcp, you will regret it. I have talked to several people who have had problems and regretted getting it because of jams. Ruger is a good gun at a good price no doubt! I have just been a glock man my whole life, rugged, reliable, accurate and there cust. support is great!

Hey your a lefty...i just picked up a Ruger SR9 my first gun ever and loving it!!!
clubtc05 4 years ago
I had a student come through my class and his striker indicator had broken off. He said it was made out of plastic. I love Rugers and I've shot the SR9 but i didn't take it down myself. Notice any problems like that? Have you heard of anything like that happening before? I'm not sure if it was a manifacturing defect or if he just reassembled it incorrectly.
CureForIgnorance 3 years ago
Nope, never had heard anyone have there striker indicator broken off...but I've noticed that alot of people are having problems with the mag release (including me) the sucker is pretty hard to press in compared to the other Rugers I've looked at, at the store... Overall I like the SR9 its slim and fits perfect in my hand.
clubtc05 3 years ago
Ruger sr9 has had a recall problem, you may want to call them I'm sure they will help, their cust. support is good! I own a ruger p95dc 9mm, and a glock 22 .40 cal. Hands down glock is a more reliable gun!! Ruger is more fun to shoot and I'm more accurate w/ruger.
