  • I miss heroes.....

  • Being that there were no "bunker buster" bombs in the U.S. arsenal in 1944, you have to wonder that even if the German bunkers took direct hits from dumb bombs before the landings would that have had any affect on those bunkers.

  • 4,700 AMERICAN CASUALTIES???!!! AND THATS ONLY ONE BEACH?!

  • There were ~4,700 USA casualties (+ a few Brit. landing craft crew) casualties at Omaha, not 2,400. Read Joseph Balkowski's 'Omaha Beach, D-day, June 6, 1944', he uses updated & more completely compiled casualty records. 1st & 29th US Inf. Divs., + Rangers, Engineers, AAA troops, Seabees, etc. landed there. About 50 tanks were sunk or knocked out.

  • it was horrible

  • it was a blood bath

  • if they show a simulation of omaha beach with the mg42 you can easily hear it's a fake mg it's rate of fire is way to slow

  • That chap's sound illustrations are priceless :D

  • why didnt the invasion get postponed if the bombers were ineffective why not just bomb the stretch of beach. I know wind can take effect but that much? At least if a few bombs landed there would've been some craters for the troops to hide in.

  • @prizes99live postponing would give Germans some ideas where Allies would hit the beach and ruin the element of surprise, maybe.

  • Отлично,найс=)

  • depending on sources you hear all kinds of conflicting things. here they say they didn't expect to lose so many in the first few hours, other sources claim the allies expected 100% casualties for the first few waves. so did they expect the first waves to be slaughtered or not?

  • Bloody Omaha for the Americans, bloody Gallipoli for the British. Damn the nazis and the turks. Hooray for democracy.

  • @AnikinTal dnt u mean bloody Gallipoli for the ANZACS?

the British didnt do crap they jus let all the aussies and new zealanders get killd

  • @ShoutenDadi British died there also - including my great-Uncle. In addition many of the ANZACS fighting there were British born or of British descent.

  • @SenorCojonazos Im sorry to hear that your great uncle died

  • Sorry to hear that too man! But anyways you should be proud of him because of what they did they make the world a better place right now...GODBLESS him!

  • don't attack me guys! an amazing feat by an amazing bunch of guys, but compared to a day on the seelow heights or kursk the casualties were quite low. sorry just throwing it out there.

  • what was his name. do you have any of his belongings.

  • A relative of mine was killed at Omaha after the fighting ended - he stood on a mine whilst aiding someone who was wounded.
