  • Just shows how uncivilized Democrats in this nation are....as much as every Republican hated the idea of a far, far, left liberal Obama being elected; we respected the American people and the Constitution.

  • still it's weird that not even gore supported the objections...

  • Faggots in the senate

  • I wouldn't mind seeing devils like Rove behind bars. He belongs in jail not just for 2000 but several million others things since 00.

  • George W Bush looks miserable in this video. It's obvious he knew he was in for a rough ride since he lost the election and stole the white house through the fraud republican controlled congress a d US supreme court.

  • There's a big reason for the nasty weather on 1/20/01 Fraud Appointed President.

  • Killuminati

  • @DigitalAbsence Agreed Bro. Killuminati!

  • Nobody cares about this anymore. Besides, the next guy didn't do any better, nothing has changed except our national debt, it's been raised by 60%. How's that hope and change working out? It's about all I have left in my bank account, change.

  • @hologram474 I still care because not caring about events like this allows them to happen again.

In reference to the description, I feel so bad for Gore because I believe he was simply acting within the bounds of his position (President of the Senate) in ruling each speaker out of order. He was simply following the rules. Shame on the senate.

  • i don't understand what they objected against (my enlish isn't perfect)

  • This is a sad, disgraceful & scandalous moment in US history!!! And those smug, sanctimonious Republican senators clapping..bastards! Loved the inaugural protestors..but they'd be jailed as "terrorists" nowadays.

  • Apparently it's a sort of unwritten rule that a senator never objects to a supreme court ruling but no excuses it's politics. If a senator would have signed the objection they would no longer have any allys in the senate and reelection would have been impossible. I really think that the blame should b on the supreme court for deciding that the results were valid after so much shadiness! I think they decided that there was no time for a total Florida re vote and and took the easy way out. I feel

  • What amazes me is that he should never have been president, but when it came to re-election, he got a second term? WTF? A lot of dead soldiers could have been avoided, not just American ones either!

  • How can people blame Nader for Bush?! Have they not seen this?

It's clear that the only people who lost Gore the presidency were the Democrats, who wouldn't even fight for an election that they won!

  • this is after the vote- what did Nader voters achieve in the actual vote? they didn't vote for Gore who was the only person other than Bush who would get to be president in that election

  • @gwhite79 Nader voters accomplished bringing a million new voters to the roles. They accomplished sending a message to the tyrannical two-party system, showing them that the people will not go down into the night!

Gore won the election. He just didn't fight for it. That's what this video is saying. He and his fellow Democrats wouldn't fight for an election that they won!

  • @seltian so new voters were registered, but as for sending a message, the Nader camp sent a message loud and clear - we will take votes off the Democrats to let the Republicans in!

  • Don't blame Nader. It isn't his fault. Blame Gore for running a lousy campaign, Bush and his team for rigging Florida, the Supreme Court for stopping the Florida recount, and every single Democrat in the Senate for not raising an objection on January 7th, 2001.

  • @seltian it is Nader's fault for taking votes from Gore without achieving victory for green issues, in fact the worst for green issues - Bush winning - Florida is a red herring. Gore could have won a smaller state and would have been president without Florida.

  • @gwhite79 The only state in question is Florida. Nader did not get enough votes in any other state to preclude Gore from winning it. Gore would have lost all 29 other states with or without Nader in the race.

So the only state that Nader could have spoiled for Gore was Florida. And when you consider that there is a high probability that Gore actually DID win Florida, and that the whole thing was fucked up by the Republicans, blaming Nader becomes rather meaningless.

  • @gwhite79 Consider also that Nader brought new voters to the polls, people who would not have voted without him in the race. Most of these new voters voted for Democrats for senate. There is at least one Democrat, Maria Cantwell, who would not have been elected to senate without Nader's help. If there had been one fewer Democrat elected that year, the Democrats would never have taken control of the senate in May 2001. So Nader gave the Democrats control of the senate.

  • @seltian Nader: thanks for the seat belts, back in the day when you were relevant. No more ego driven quixotic vote stealing. Time to fade away.

  • Enormous pile of dead people could have been avoided, had a single Senator shown some courage in this moment.

The Senate is a broken institution. With Bush-Gore then, and with healthcare reform now.

  • this is the turnig point that made the last decade suck monkey balls... thanks alot al, you cock... how's that global warming thing workin out for ya?

  • i am surprised that such a hated figure can be elected twice. but finally today, it will all come to an end. americans, please do not vote for another bush if they stand for election in the future. (I heard something about jeb bush)

  • @wtanoto Its idiots like you that voted for Obama and look where we are, we are WORSE!

  • @macsrule94 and who voted for obama? Not me since I am not american. I am thoroughly conservative and supports Conservative Party of United Kingdom. And see the date of the post, it was three years ago. I did support obama back then since the US under Bush was hectic. Now I do not care.
