very good jump wise! hight triples and very nice quad! but his footwork was just awful and his spins were not as good as positions go, but otherwise it was good! i just think evan had the whole package he had spins,footwork,presence and yes he didnt have the "quad" but everything else made up for that! but hes good

It's all a jumping contest with him! What happened to the good old fashioned mens figure skating that actually had REAL emotion. A lot of skaters now are like robots. Just going with the crowd. Our sport needs some emotion, especially in the mens division. Just sayin...

I thing judges try to pretend quads and 3A (in woman competitions) aren't so difficult because if skaters stopped taking risk and did easier jumps, then judges could put on the podium whoever they want (like in old scoring system)
I don't get how does it possibe Plush didn't win the gold at OG, Asada didn't win FS with Kim in Turin and Joubert didn't win SP at Worlds. All those scores were unfair but Plushenko is the biggest victim of last season

Evgeny is the best skater ever, not only for his personal charisma, personality, confidence when he skates, but because his programs are so original, difficult and well executed, perfect!, and if we can say something about his persona, I think all of us who think he is so sexy is because he is a perfect combination of art, talent and beauty, what a man! gorgeous!
I hate that the new scoring system forces him to do all those really ugly sit spin positions. His spins before his first retirement were much prettier. But this was a commanding performance - he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand :) It was like that in Vancouver, too - you couldn't tear your eyes off him while he was performing. Lysacek's performance made me want to go to sleep.

i think that evan lysacek needs to learn a more olympic level of figure skating i love both plushenko and lysacek but my all round favorite is ofcourse plushenko. and being like this after retirement is very very good.
He said it better when interviewed: "the world figure skating administration does not want to move forward" . It's a shame because really, he was the best. But as he also said, in his brain he'd actually won.

It is the Olympics, should be about SPORT and who did the most difficult element should win! But I doubt you understand the level of difficulty to land a quad and land one clean!!! I was watching him skating at Stockholm Ice event today. And yes, he is still one of the few who dare to make all the difficult jump and are giving so much to perform! I have followed figure skating in OS since I was a kid, and I do agree with most that for man's competition it is the jumps and the powerful movement that makes the difference. If I want to see amazing flexibility and elegant movements, I rather watch the women's.
I don't care that Evgeni didn't skate smoothly,because he does it with so much passion,energy and emotions that it just amazes me each time I see him on ice.
No one can explain how Plush ended up having virtually the same score as Lycacek after the short program.
His short program was just flawless.
I think they put him close to Lycacek so Evan could have a chance at beating him in the long program. Evan's both programs were nowhere near Plushenko's as far as athleticism and difficulty go....
Without skaters of Plushenko's caliber, the Worlds this year was not really exciting to watch.

Evgeny is the best skater ever, not only for his personal charisma, personality, confidence when he skates, but because his programs are so original, difficult and well executed, perfect!, and if we can say something about his persona, I think all of us who think he is so sexy is because he is a perfect combination of art, talent and beauty, what a man! gorgeous!

I hate that the new scoring system forces him to do all those really ugly sit spin positions. His spins before his first retirement were much prettier. But this was a commanding performance - he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand :) It was like that in Vancouver, too - you couldn't tear your eyes off him while he was performing. Lysacek's performance made me want to go to sleep.

@walover165, oh yes you are so right, I don't get tired to watch Evgeny over and over again, he is so original and avant garde in what he does better than anyone, he is the best, everybody knows that, even Lysacek knows it and he knew it when he was sitting there waiting for the final results, he was surprised more than anyone.

@AstridSGarcia If Lysa was more artistry, why Plushy got more points for his presentation? This is an american ignorance in this matter. Evan won with the technically points, therefore was the big scandal. Evgeni should have won.

@lala630312, yes the score system was so bias to Lysacek, I am not an expert but just checking the score details we can see it, Evgeny did not get enough points with his difficult program, but as he said, he just moved towards Sochi, hope we can see him there.

Great.... I watched the other day this program in Tokyo, and I was just stunned with his wonderful performance. It might be better than his performances at 2010 Euro in Tallin or at the Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Whatever people may say, he is the king/tsar of figure skating, after all (I'm not against Evan's gold medal, though). Evgeni/Zhenya is just incomparable.

I love both Plushenko and Yagudin. For me, Plushenko is a fighter, and his style is less meditated and more untamed than Yagudin. But that is his style and I love his energy and his courage to come back when he already had an Olympic gold.

He said it better when interviewed: "the world figure skating administration does not want to move forward" . It's a shame because really, he was the best. But as he also said, in his brain he'd actually won.

Amocktus: I wonder if you know any sport and in this sport in particular. And yes, a quad should land him the gold over Lysacek! AND WHY? It is the Olympics, should be about SPORT and who did the most difficult element should win! But I doubt you understand the level of difficulty to land a quad and land one clean!!! And of course Lysacek didn't even DARE to put one in his program because he simply doesn't know how!

I was watching him skating at Stockholm Ice event today. And yes, he is still one of the few who dare to make all the difficult jump and are giving so much to perform! I have followed figure skating in OS since I was a kid, and I do agree with most that for man's competition it is the jumps and the powerful movement that makes the difference. If I want to see amazing flexibility and elegant movements, I rather watch the women's.

No one can explain how Plush ended up having virtually the same score as Lycacek after the short program.
His short program was just flawless.
I think they put him close to Lycacek so Evan could have a chance at beating him in the long program. Evan's both programs were nowhere near Plushenko's as far as athleticism and difficulty go....
Without skaters of Plushenko's caliber, the Worlds this year was not really exciting to watch.
