Joseph Smith claimed the moon was inhabited by people who lived to be 1000 and dressed like Quakers, correct?
"Benjamin" was changed to "Mosiah" after Mormon leaders finally realized that in the chronology of the Book of Mormon King Benjamin had already died, so he would have been hard pressed to "interpret" the engravings mentioned in Mosiah 21:28, correct?
Contrary to 1 Nephi 18:25, North America had no cows, oxen, asses, horses, or goats "for the use of man" before Europeans brought them.
Please do your research before repeating the words of Anti-LDS. Considering the fallibilities and strengths of modern day science, you should realize that the proof against the Book of Mormon is weak indeed. Remember: The wise man builds his house upon a rock. The foolish man builds his house upon the sand.
@Hermetiqa, have you been to the moon? can you see in all wavelenghts or can you enter into every dimention? Or are these things fables as well? Have you lost all your faith? Do you no longer believe that ALL things are possable for God? No horses in the americas? Did you stop your research feeling established in your own knowledge? Open your eyes and open you heart in prayer, or dwindle in unbelief.
The evidence is clear. Joseph Smith was not correct in teaching that there was life on the moon, Oliver Huntington never preached to the inhabitants of the moon, and all scientific evidence points to the fact that there is no life on the sun as Brigham Young claimed.
Since Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were wrong about life on the moon and the sun, does it make sense that we should trust their teachings about eternal life?
He never claimed it to be doctrinal! Just an idea, even a prophet can speculate on certain things. Think of the era they lived in...such things were not uncommon beliefs in their day.
There is a way to come to know that we can trust their teachings, and then is looking at the Bible, as well as the guidance of the Holy Ghost! Both support the fundamental doctrines of the Restoration!
I think there where houses in the Americas be Europeans brought them. and I at this time dont think that the BOM its true but I on open to it. ill have to look in to the Mosiah 21:28, do you know what pg # its on for the 1830 BOM??? as the 1830 has diff way of doing the CP
In 1833, Charles Darwin found evidence for horses existing in America before the Europeans had arrived. In 1931, scientists found an arrowhead beneath the scalpula ofa a mammoth in Angus, Nebraska. Evidence suggests that the American native hunters may have helped to rapidly bring about the extinction of horses and other such animals which archaeologists say had at one time roamed the American continents. Bones have been found buried near ancient hunting tools, ancient drawings in Blythe, CA.
Mammoths came via the Berring ice bridge, and we have found them in both Eurasia and North America just like we've found Mongoloid hominids in both places.
Please cite your references about horses in the Americas prior to European contact.
I stand corrected. He was talking about tapirs, which were likely the Nephite equivalent of horses, as evidenced by what the natives said of the horses brought by the Europeans.
While some species of tapir are rather small and look like pigs, the Mesoamerican variety--Baird's Tapir--can grow to be nearly six and a half feet in length and can weigh more than six hundred pounds.

gives an interesting look into this by LDS while citing quite a few non-LDS sources and studies.
It is important to remember that what may seem to be anachronisms could have surely been the best English translation of the original words given in the record from which Joseph translated the Book of Mormon.
"trying to make it sound Biblical"
that is what the critics say about the New Testament!
