@wue2117 Because whilst the VE is a good car, the previous Commodores could have been a lot better. Especially compared to what the competition (Toyota & Mitsubishi, Falcon is in the same boat as Commodore) had to offer.
I WAS a Holden fan for the last 10 yrs, ovning a VU ute (non work ute) and then 2 VE sedans, Never buying a Holden again after buying an 09 upgrade SX6 Aurion in october '10, 600k's out of a full tank in Sydney, I never once had a Holden come close to that in k's.Downside is front wheel drive, but you dont care about the front wheel drive after a while and i certainly dont miss the rough ride of a crapadore any more.As for Fords,They have only ever been good for putting TAXI signs on the roof.
we took a demo aurion car home for the night, we have been holden fans for years, loved the aurion what a surprise, we are buying a toyota aurion for sure. the aurions have fast pick up, good saftey, im sold, go toyota
I'd honestly prefer a Aurion over a Holden Commodore. Its also cheaper than a Commodore, more powerful than a V6 Commodore, and more fuel efficient than any Commodore.
Yeah, it's also very boring, front wheel drive, the base model is sad and it will never be a fun car to drive. The car may as well be a reliable microwave or fridge it's soooo boring.
LOL, that microwave will out sell and outlast ANY Holden ever produced. Not to mention, better re-sale value and BETTER built than any Holden ...But, you cant expect much out of a Holden or a Holden fan.
@pilotliam Handles better too. There is no reason to buy a Commodore over a Aurion. The only reason you would buy a Commodore is if you have a little bit of brain damage from drinking VBs with all your Commodore driving mates. Apart from that, the Aurion is a far better car in every way, however you look at it
@pilotliam Finally someone who actually knows there are better Australian cars than Commodores. Even I knew this back in the days of the Mitsubishi Magna.
@lolitstinks1 I really just don't see whats so good about them. Everyone buys them, I mean sure they're a practical family car, but when there is cheaper competition thats miles ahead I know which one I'd buy. After looking at many Commodores for my first car I've decided they're full of leaky engines, transmissions are slow, interior quality is very, very poor and they're very uneconomical. I bought a Magna (Verada actually) and I'll be staying with that.
The Aurion I pilot has just ticked over 75000kms. I do 300km every day and I get around 550km for 56litres. What does anyone else get. I run Suitomo H14 mud&snow tyres at 40psi. My driving is city and country
i'm pleased this car comes with curtain airbags as STANDARD. It's a family sized car and if you have a family, you'd want to protect them in the event of some idiot smashing into you. Why doesn't the commodore have it as standard :/
the day i spend my hard earned cash on a toyota is the day i know im to old to be driving... if i wanted a front wheeler i would buy a 380 over an aurion
There's nothing wrong with Toyotas, it has nothing to do with being old, but I'll agree with you on the 380. The funny thing is any review you read where they pit the VE, BF, Aurion and 380 against eachother - guess which car comes last? - the Aurion. All reviews say it lacks in the handling department. The 380 is a much better handling FWD, and despite it being less powerful still holds an almost exact 0-100km/h time. The Aurions are still nice cars tho :)
Hmm, those airbags are a bit late. It is still inflating when the dummy hits it.
Toyota advertised the Aurion to be really safe but, although 4 star is nothing to sneez at, 5 star was what I was expecting + in New Zealand we use the ANCAP ratings so that would have been what Toyota would have been basing it on.
At first i thought the same about the late deployment of the airbag, but then remembered that this is linked to the safety aspect of the seatbelt and release system, whereby the seatbelt acts like a shortened rubberband, first giving a little, then locking the occupant back into the seat(seatbelt retractors), thus giving way to the safe deployment of the airbag. then finally the occupant is released into the airbag(ALL THIS IN A SPLIT SECOND) Regards.
can anyone tell me what make it a great car??... i think am gonna buy a car

why is everyone bashing the commodore so much here? the VE is a fucking great car. so is the Aurion. both amazing cars.

aykeat1 2 years ago
As much as I love Commodores I admit the aurions are better allround.
Faster
cheaper
smoother
more economical
The only thing i can think of is commodore handling which blitzes the toyota's.

Too bad everything in the Aurion feels so tacky, shitty plastic and fabric.
Not to mention the seat are rock hard and uncomfortable.

@baggedandblown
I guess it's a case of what's important to you...power or luxury
The Aurion does 0-100 faster than a VT HSV Clubsport, that's not too shabby.
But now that the commodore has a
210kw SIDI V6, i would prefer that.

Not good engine? Its a 200KW 3.5L V6. Not even a Commodore V6 can match that.
