Mathijs, van the Beatles :The White Album, de laatste tijd draai ik veel: Larry Carlton en Robben Ford,Live in Japan. Favorite Jazz CD: Wes Montgomery, live at the Halfnote
Ja!!! The white albu is wel heel goed. Ok mijn favoriet. Heel erg afwisselend.
Thanks Allen, well it seems effortless but it isn't ,there are some heavy grips in there that need quite some stretching, of course again the melody harmonization was my aim,but together with the chromatic bass movement it was a challenging job. Thanks for sending Kenny's version, what a soulful singer that was, I used to play 'Velez" from him with my former band, thanks for your to the point comment, greets Vic.
You mentioned chromatic bass movement. On this performance the bass has a nice volume level with the melody and harmony. For me the hardest thing to learn with finger-style is controlling the volume of the difference voices. That ain't easy either.
Totally right Allen, that control takes lots of practice, getting all in volume-harmony. Something many beginning finger-stylers also have difficulty with is the syncopation off melody against bass, that takes thinking like a drummer, several things are going on in the same momentum, interesting conversation with you,Vic.

He showed me an interesting exercise many years back.
Tap your left foot on the floor in quarter notes.
Now with your left hand tap on your left knee in 8th notes. Right foot tap in quarter triplets and with your right hand tap 8th triplets on your right knee.
This is superb, Victor! Your fingerstyle rendition perfectly captured the essence of this classic tune. Best cover I've heard of this song. And It's just what I needed to hear today. Thank you, my friend. Fav'ed and *****
Thanks Jeff, for your very warm and supporting words, I saw white Rabbit on your channel now that's a great tune I might do something with, greetings Amigo.

Thanks Jaw, yeah I saw all those versions on YT but never including the vocal-line,well there was the challenge, and who ever wants to try this will find out themselves how difficult it is. will drop you a line, greets Vic.
Long time ago when first time I listen to Black Bird I always wondering since it's difference between other Beatles song styles. The chord progressions especially on "Take these broken wings and learn to fly" lyrics (C-Db-D-Eb-E) and I realize how genius they are, their song across every style of music. Nice rendition of the Beatles song Vic, your playing is across many styles too when I realize you are a true jazz/blues electric guitar maestro!
Thanks Lanang, you know how it is with giving lessons etc,all different people come with their own desires what to learn from Pop, finger-style, Rock,Blues,Jazz. Nowadays you really have to be good and very versatile to survive. I even give bass guitar lessons and enjoy doing it because I'm approaching Music from a totally different angle and learning there to(even at this age.lol) You're talking bout chord-inversions here and those guys knew their Stuff, greets Vic.
Hi Vic! I totally agree with Pablo, who said that this was an upgrade - and that means something for such a good song! It is barock, pop and jazz at the same time.
And once again, you play like this was nothing at all and I think only guitar players can know how difficult this is...
Thanks Jogi,I agree what you said, it is a combination of those styles. And when I tell you I couldn't lay this down in one session I'm telling the truth (It took me 2, in the first I didn't get a satisfying take) Critical as I am, I decided to attack it again another day, take it from me,many say: Vic it looks effortless but this boy knows what a musician goes through to get things done,no complaining, it's "Karma",gr Vic.
Ken without Music and Arts it would have been a mighty Cold place, Art lifts this world out of mediocrity into a place where inner fantasy gets it's expression space. Vic.
Thanks madguitarist8042,for your kind words, I think when someone approaches his guitar and "Art" with devotion and respect, mountains can be moved,Oceans can be crossed, a great hand-shake Vic.
Thanks so much Terry, you're so creative with your comments and specific words you choose, you're a Universe on itself, I always go to the same lady who cuts my hair, we laugh and have fun and this has a great effect on her cutting my hair, which is turning quite grey now, saludos Vic.
Thanks Pablo, man that Mc Cartney is a good musician and approaches all from the bass-part, you can feel the great use of chord-inversions,something firmly rooted in the Classical Music. much appreciated,Vic.
Thanks Fred, this is the first tune I couldn't play in one session, I had to attack it again another day to get a satisfying take, practicing this tune has improved my right and left hand coordination, thanks for always being here listening Amigo,Vic
Hi Johnnyguitar34, it's A Takamine CP-132SO (Electro-acoustic), A fine instrument,I brought down the action a bit for more comfortable playability.Vic.
Hi Victor, it's been a while! It seems that this one is a real challenge to play, even for you. But it's really good of course, just listening to the bass alone is enjoyable.
By the way, that's a 'Paul' song, Lennon was also very talented, but his songs didn't have that richness in harmony (some people might hate me for saying this kind of things)
Thanks Romain, it's completely true what you say, both where very talented but Paul somehow also had his source in Classical Music and he made use of many chord inversions which enriches the Music enormously, when analyzing this tune and others I grasped his way of thinking which is very cool, probably George Martin(producer) also had his influence. Greets Vic.
Hi Vic, it´s nice to see/hear another Beatles song. i love the Beatles.
It´s awesome how you created an arrangement with the melody and the "backing". You always do that, but I know for "Blackbird" it´s more difficult. And: you got it, again! Bravo!
Thanks so much Axxstrix, it is my friend, it's hard and the spirit has to be hard to get it all into reality, "Art" isn't a thing one gets thrown in the lap,oh no,there's much more to that ,greets Vic.
Sabine your comment is full of "Heart" my dear, wandering in nature is so good for the spirit, you'll feel refreshed after such a walk. This Bird is saying: Take these broken Wings and learn to fly, nothing in this world is perfect but we'll learn to overcome, big hug Vic.
Another masterpiece! You mentioned the difficulty of your right hand rythym patterns, it seems to me that this piece demands very close attention with the right hand as well as the left to make it successful. You have succeeded admirably and with such artistry as well. The tempo is also at that level that it is doubly important to keep the proper rythym going. Well done.
Thanks Rich for your warm supporting words, you're a person with such a delicate ear my friend. I can tell by the way you comment that you listen real close. You're totally right, the coordination between left and right has to be as precise as possible, I've stopped putting all I do under a microscope and try to look at the"whole". I know how it has to sound in terms of total precision but God it's never achievable, when I succeed for 90% I'm happy. Most important is "the flow" greets,Vic.
Thanks varunjewalikar, sometimes it's hard too but you'll never see it in my performances, when I post something it has to have quality, else I won't mess with it,greets Vic.
Per,mi Amigo, you've made my day brother, hearing this from a musician I respect so much for his fine interpretations, tone and feel is far beyond words. In terms of finger style you're the Cat I'm always checking out, we both know how hard this style is and when we can achieve this we're for a moment standing in front Heavens gate, lol, greets Vic.
Hi Sarah, (lyrics) "I was always waiting for this moment to arise", and in life every moment is unique and precious my girl,so it is. Thanks for your ever great visit to my pieces, a big hug,Vic.
Thanks Rineke for your warm visit,I can tell you love Music, it's food for the Soul my dear,it keeps us going also in hard times,it gives us comfort (troost) greets my lady,Vic.

Keesfarida 2 years ago

margreet0 2 years ago
Jazzguts 2 years ago
Absoluut!

Congrats!

I second that emotion, Pablo! Nice way to phrase it: an upgrade! Vic is just unceasingly innovative with the subtle tweaks which speak volumes!

you looking like you have newly cut hair! smile)

Thanks woodytfc, I agree it's a mighty fine and very special composition,gr Vic.
Jazzguts 2 years ago
Hi Victor, it's been a while! It seems that this one is a real challenge to play, even for you. But it's really good of course, just listening to the bass alone is enjoyable.
By the way, that's a 'Paul' song, Lennon was also very talented, but his songs didn't have that richness in harmony (some people might hate me for saying this kind of things)
greenlentils 2 years ago

Bravo!
5***** Best wishes, Frank

I was just coming from a nice sunny walk in the beautiful nature of or Weserbergland when I saw a blackbird sitting and tweeting in our garden.
Now I know - he comes from Holland :-)
I send him back with 5 stars in his beak...

Victor,
Another masterpiece! You mentioned the difficulty of your right hand rythym patterns, it seems to me that this piece demands very close attention with the right hand as well as the left to make it successful. You have succeeded admirably and with such artistry as well. The tempo is also at that level that it is doubly important to keep the proper rythym going. Well done.
Rich
sunriverperson 2 years ago
Thanks Rich for your warm supporting words, you're a person with such a delicate ear my friend. I can tell by the way you comment that you listen real close. You're totally right, the coordination between left and right has to be as precise as possible, I've stopped putting all I do under a microscope and try to look at the"whole". I know how it has to sound in terms of total precision but God it's never achievable, when I succeed for 90% I'm happy. Most important is "the flow" greets,Vic.
