  • @8843556als

     谢谢!

  • First one I've seen that's legitimate Tai Chi.

  • Smooth, Relaxed, yet Powerful looking!!! Thank You.

  • This is the closest that I have seen to what I have learned. Look at

    yang-style-tai-chi.ning.com

  • thanks for sharing this, the stripe on the floor and white rim on your shoes are SO helpful with figuring out foot placement! awesome :)

  • @taijispirit1 thank you

  • It's really nice to see the part of the long form played by someone advanced. The form i do came down through Ip Tai Tak, so it is a little different fromthis, but it is still a truely beautiful thing to see being done well.

  • The difference between yang style tai chi and yin style tai chi is that there isn't any yin style tai chi. The yang in this question is a different character than the one for yin-yang. Yang style taijiquan is named after the Yang family.

  • What is the difference between Tai Chi Yang Style and Tai Chi Yin Style?

  • @videosdatreta

There's no such thing as Taiji Yin Style. Yang style is "Yang family Taijiquan". Basically a surname. It's not the same Yang from the Yin and Yang concept.

  • @tang605 oh, ok, i thought it was the same concept. And what is the difference between Tai CHi Yang and any other style ?

  • @videosdatreta

Generally nowadays, the Yang style people practiced is based on Yang Cheng Fu's big frame form, which is meant to be practiced with big circles, smooth movement, and even-paced. Wu family Taiji is based on the Yang's small frame form, which is smaller and quicker, although still slow to an average person. Chen style, one of the oldest style before Yang, contains slow and fast movements, with heavy stomps and explosive attacks.

  • I love this form and practice it almost every day. Thank You Shirfu.

  • I have started to the learn the long form and this shows me the tempo & starting form excelt why to begin learning for myself and others who will follow and giving a basic begining.

  • I really like the background music from this video clip. Does anyone know the name the music? Where is this sifu based at?

  • I studied under Peter when attending UH-Hilo. He is a very very strong Sifu and a great person as well. This is the BOMB!!!!!

    Thanks Peter!!!

  • Alwiz love Yang Style. The flow is just like Water, so Harmonious.

  • Thanks Peter

I love the move. Most people have no idea how to push. Notice how he he pushes upward as well as forward. If you push into someone straight on you meet force with force. He is able to push upward and lift his opponent off balance so that his opponent cannot resist. Its the little things like that that make Tai Chi such a fine martial art. That being said, I would not use only Yang style Tai Chi in a fight. It is best learned with a hader style if you want to learn to fight well.

  • @sford605 hey there, i just enrolled in a yang style tai chi class, and i am just wondering, base on ur experience when learning tai chi, has it changed ur daily habit/personality in any single way? how do u find it? Cheers.

  • @cheukwils

It's changed the way I fight and I'm healthier for it, but I haven't really changed my habits or personality because of it. I know my instructor did, but I didn't practice it with the same passion that he does.

  • @cheukwils I started on an improver's course last night to study the old Yang form. This form is different to what I know already so I think I'll merge the two together to get a very long form.

  • This is my favorite YouTube Tai Chi video....I hope to get the control he has someday. Thanks you very much for posting. Kim

  • I am 60 years old... I have studied for over 30 years... and spent 30 years in a govt job that employed the skills. Very few appreciate the slow motion control such as this man has.... It is very true that if you have control at this speed... it is not much of a transition as many think. I really appreciate just being able to watch the video... thanks for posting.

  • Exuse me please, I am learning Yang style 108 forms. I like your instruction video.

    Very Beautiful!.

Is there a way to know the names of the poses in english?

    thank you for your time,

    Freda

  • Wow your spaces are much wider but this is exactly what i am learning at present in north of Germany <3

  • Excelente gracias por este video saludos desde Chile

  • Nice form Peter...

  • Hello Peter, so good to see you after all these years. I started with you and Sam in Waikiki back in 1979.

  • Beautiful!

  • Are you allowed to learn more than one type of tai chi from different lineages?

  • Hello Sifu Hoy, do you have any video's of you pushing? I would be very interested in watching them.

  • Very, very nice. Thanks!

  • Very Nice!! But the song will make people sleepy...

  • beautiful. simply beautiful.

  • Very good, slow and controlled power, the way it should be, well done!!

  • @fauld5 lots of ways to practice it, this is just the most common.

  • Thank you so much :) and Thanks for sharing, i appreciate it very much. may Peace be with you.

  • right after the i think 3rd grasping the birds tail, before fist under elbow, isnt there suppose to be a single whip, hmm i was taught that, but the few videos i have seen dont have it :o confusing. anyone know if its just preference? theirs looks like almost a single whip, but not.

  • Absolutely beautifull! ive recently started learning yang style to compliment other arts and watching this reminds me why! Thankyou!

  • THANKS A LO for sharingT!!!!!!!!!!excellent video and teacher....

  • I learned the Wu style first, but everyone has told me that the Yang style was the one to learn first. Your video proves them right. It's very grounded, and shows the hard/soft dichotomy of tai chi much better than the other styles. Your demonstration is a real motivation for me to learn this style, Sifu. Thank you.

  • I used to learn Tai Chi, but when I came to advanced group, it started to be little bit boring for me. So after some time, I stopped to do Tai Chi. and now, one year later I realised, it was big mistake. So I am trying to recall the moves.... Thank you, your video is very useful for me :) It helps me to remember :)

  • This is a very inspiring execution of the form - fluid, subtle, and soft yet "strong" and looks very grounded. It is such an immense pleasure to watch, and to aspire to. Thank you very much for sharing your experience, Sifu.

  • Thank you Sifu for you insight,

I will look for that book. Again thank you for your insight.

    Andew

  • Sifu,

I have noticed that when you do the "press" move that your wrists don't touch whilst pressing. Is there any reason why? Better chi flow maybe?

    andrew

  • I have decided to learn this traditional yang style. I have studied Beijing tai chi but this style looks more fluid, warmer and less rigid as the Beijing style. Wish me luck everyone.

    andrew

  • my friend said once" the slower you go the more skillful one becomes. In stillness wisdom is born"

  • congrt! compare the performance infront of wudong temple; this is much much better.! Thank. keep up the good work.

  • Very beautiful. What music are you playing. I have taken Tai Chi off and on for some years and your 108 is different than what I learned and I like it very much. I like the fluid way you move with slow speed and even height. Wonderful !!

  • You make it look easy which I know it isn't. I'm 60 - how hard is it to remember all those steps? I know everyone is different but on an average how long does it take to learn one exercise routine?

  • By the principles of Tai Chi Chuan:

Yi Man Sheng Kuai: "With slowness quickness is defeated"

Dong Zhong Qui Jing: "Strive for calmness whilst in action"

The execution at a lower speed facilitates the understanding of each moviment and its flow of energy, i.e., instructional in this perspective. Slow performance is in total coherence with the classic philosophy of tai chi.

Abração de São Paulo - Brasil!

  • That's very well recorded, slow-paced, with instructional objective and cleaningness of each movement achieved. Recommended! Thank you very much!

  • It is apparent that you take the time to read all the comments made on your numerous videos, Sifu. What is admirable, though, is that you respond to those who have questions as if they are your students. Your generous and open spirit is a gift for all of us.

  • Thank you very much sir. I will follow your advice.

  • Great video - it makes me relaxed just watching it. Thank you. I am presently learning the 24 and 42 forms: would it be beneficial for me to practice these forms as slowly as you do the 108 form? Thanks again!

  • Skillful integration of internal & external. A beautiful demo. Mahalo Sifu

  • very good tai chi!

    thanks.

  • You`re welcome. I wish I could do the same, one day... I´m still trainning the 24 forms Tai Chi Yang . I´ll try the arms... including swords. I have much to learn and practise. I won´t give up so easly. Thanks a lot. I´ll keep trying. Have a nice day. God bless you.

  • It´s simple perfect, so beautiful, transmit peace, self control, health.

It´s a kind of video to watch several times.

It´s useful for beginers, tai chi chuan students that wants to improve Knowlege.

    Thanks a lot.

  • I love this. Tai Chi can be a reflection of the Spirit.

  • He sure makes it look easy and effortless.

  • Good control, focus and flow.

    Gentle yet powerful ......great demo!
