@gaikokujinNor You're not being rude. The sandy bridge chipset bug is only the beginning. I chose to go with the R2 due to its anodized aluminum frame and sturdy construction, excellent build quality in comparison to R3, RGB-LED over WLED (1200p vs 1080p), an extra GPU (dual 5870's in Crossfire) and the looks. Mind you I gave up a 3D capable display (which from my research is still not working properly), 16gb ram in favor of 8, and a 2nd gen i7 CPU over a 1st gen. Plus I can't wait til April.

guys from my experience never buy and alienware (or at least it's laptops) because my $3,800 alienware m17 died a few weeks ago.It wasn't even a year before the motherboard had a problem, and it stopped charging. I tried replacing the charger, battery, and checked to see if it was anything else and it was the effing motherboard.

But,i couldnt buy a new motherboard because alienware doesnt fucking manufacture them anymore!!Therefore,i had to buy a cheap macbook pro... lets see how this one lasts.

@Ozziguy6 The immediate application of force from him opening the laptop could not overcome the hinges tight resistance so the entire chassis of the computer was lifted until gravity could overcome the force and pull the heavier bottom half back down.

In other words, it knocked down on the table after he lifted it. You can see the bottom part "jump". The hinges on these things are amazingly tight.

@leetbert the m15x and m11x are the 2 newest. i think the main size differentce is m15x to m11x. the m17x and m15x are around the same size. the m11x is not even as big as most hp or dell laptops.

@hamedsamdi19972 Umm no it's not. I have the G73JH-A1 and it pales in comparison to my friends M17x-R2. The cooling on the M17x is far better and so is the build quality. I bought a G73 for a lot less than my friend got his M17x for, but the difference in price clearly shows in the quality of both. M17x-R2 wins hands down in all categories.

@noob562 the M17x-R2 is better. It has better cooling, better performance with dual MR5870's as opposed to the G73's one MR5870, and the quality is lightyears ahead of the G73's. Not to mention Dell/Alienware's warranty makes Asus's look like a joke. I had to send my G73 away for almost a month with a GPU issue. Dell/Alienware have next business day in home service.

This is only a laptop because you can take "easily" comparing to desktops to one place to another. It may be heavy but 5.5kg wont kill you... Okay u are right I didnt postet my problems with my alienware. My fuckin Problem with my alienware ist that I got a lot of Problems with the Software. Its like Alienware hates Microsoft excactly in Windows 7 there is allways a problem. The CPU usage is always 100%. So I still use vista. If you lost your Alienware Respawn partition and try to manualy install the softwares it is monstrously inpossibel to do it your selfe. You have to be a PC Scientist or so to fix it!

Alienware doesnt hate windows, that should be a bug, your cpu isnt working 100%, it is just bugged, chill. And you can ask for another respawn dvd i think, just contact dell customer support. Good luck
