  • so ... they built the dam in Minecraft?

  • I am offensive and I find this muslim.

  • Sweet Sega graphics.

  • Now that's one mega expensive waterside.

  • NO such thiong, or TRUTH, about a peaceful muSLAMer. They live to SLAM the Jews. Just lissten to their words. Once a SLAMer, ALLWAYS a SLAMer. They have snuck n2 America. The modern day Babylon the Great according to Dimitru Dutimi, SOON the North will ATTACK, the King of the south, Dan. 11:40. how SAD, that the king of the North, DROWNED the 17 cities, to make a Dam, with ZERO Water supply, to Operate the Generators?

  • I came to this video because of Vsauce. He was talking

about how this dam actually slowed down the rotation

    of the earth. Crazy!

  • @TheIcecreamPeople00 waaaat?:

  • HAHAHahA how did people end up talking about Osama and Muslims ? lol

  • HAHA THANK YOU REALLY INFOMATIVE FOR MY FREAKY PROJECT>(:

  • they're not building ships right?

  • And this is called "progress".

  • I'm afraid that flooding is not a catastrophe - it is how our planet renews the vast floodplains with fertile silt and sediment. It revitalizes the river's delta and washes away invasive plants from the river banks. Farmers plant crops next to river floodplains precisely because of this fertility bestowed by the river flooding.

Dams insidiously pollute the ocean with chemically altered water and remove 95% percent of this life giving sediment from downstream.

Toxins build up in the reservoirs.

  • china Block the water of Mekong River and china against GOD will,The Goverment of China Must Stop Block The Mekong River or They will be Punish By Nature,go to JESUSLION2011 you will see Evidence WARNING FROM GOD.

  • Of course - assuming you're from the U.S. You guys created the whole dam the river way of thinking.

Isn't it a little rich to be preaching to people in others countries influenced by your own technology?

  • @telemetry9 No, Beavers did!

  • What beavers do is positive and on a small scale.

  • @telemetry9 teehee I'm just fuckin with ya.

  • @telemetry9 No, beavers did!

  • doesn't matter if they are peace loving or not , all muslims are on the wrong side "no one will see the father but by the son" the "son" wasn' muhammed it was Jesus why does everyone feel they have to be politically correct? even these so-called "peace loving" muslims read the quiran which calls on destruction of all christians and any calls jews infidels

  • its a fucking dam, why are you all talking about muslims?

  • dog eaters

  • DAM(N)!

  • Great engineering.

  • Best chinese meditation video ever

  • such an ugly language! listening to that vile shit is the worst violation of human rights possible

  • @PoliticalGangster madarin is a great language, you simply need to understand it. of course you dont like to listen to madarin, you dont understand it, who like what they dont understand? if madarin was vile shit, then youd me the scent of the most discusting leachate there is. more than 1,3 billion ppl use it daily and its a wonderful language, i dont get your logic about madarin being the worst violation of human rights there is. Dont be a hater in life, cuz ull get hated on, its an advice

  • @PoliticalGangster

this is most bullshit comment I "''ve ever heard in my entire existence .I am not Chinese but I feel so offended by your bullshit statement dude u r pathetic .people like u make me sick .How dare u say that

instead of apreciating this unprecedented mega project which by the way will reduce co2 emissions if we take into account the huge dry north fields which will be irrigated by this mega project

man this is history in the making

go ahaed china don't care about morons

  • @chnofl but its true. i did not mean to offend by my sincere comment

  • the most stupid project ever. flooding hundreds of industrial waste containing buildings and over 1700 cities. need for constant money supply to maintain the damns integrity. this dam will break when china's economy suffers or an enemy attacks it. china, you have build your own time-bomb on your own soil. congratulations. your regime is completely deluded.

  • I've heard the three gorges dams have many leaks and holes. Someday when earthquakes come to crack the dam, it creates a tsunami to kill many people and flood Shanghai. Good plan for China...

  • three gorges dam Lin0607 1 videos SubscribeEdit Subscription Loading...

  • Notice in the begining of this video how polluted and brown the river is. The hydro electric power produced by this dam will reduce the need to burn coal as an energy source and go a long way towards making the air cleaner to breath. The dam is equipped with a fish ladder to ensure the migration of fish. This dam is a good thing and a blessing for the people of China.

In their zest to store up water for energy production the managers of the dam failed to leave room for potential floods.

  • @Zyworski I agree that this dam is a good thing. But I think the brownish color of the water is natural, because I think that river is naturally silty. Not saying it's absolutely clean either...

  • so that is why concrete prices went up

  • i really want to surf the wave at 3:20 =]

  • "green" energy... which is able to influence earths magnetic fields. wow what a wonderful green structure, thank you china -.-

  • Right to electricity, right to clean water, right to be free from hunger, all come before right to vote, the Chinese government is trying to provide the Chinese people with these basic needs of living, what good is a vote when you can't even feed yourself and get proper sanitation? Foreigners are just biased mouthrunners, they know nothing about China.

  • my countrymen are stupid. Forget a nuclear war, only 1 rocket on this dam is needed to annihliate the masses.

  • @dycarbon1 No, I wasn't being sarcastic. I know there were many sacrifices to get the job done, but basically I say "Bravo" to the accomplishment. Some always try to find the negative side of things when it comes to China. So, I try to point out another positive element of the dam accomplishment. The US could not build such a project today.

  • Communism.. doesn't... work? Clearly we were wrong there, about China at least.

  • @erixmix

china has the best from democray but sticking to its commnism roots

  • undoubtedly this dam is showing that chinese people can built anything which they want.

    heartly Congratulation to Great China.

  • @moriandco You mean the wall wasn't enough? XD

  • @erixmix

i have already said that the chinese can built anything which they want. hope to understand my msg.

  • China has not only built a wonderous dam. They have built an inland sea.

  • @1729esg1729b

I hope you are not being sarcastic. Before the dam was built, the lower reaches of ChangJiang River used to get flooded constantly.

  • @hobatu The cultural relics were a lot more valuable to us than to people who do not have a genuine interests in our history, and as such, we have done to our best to preserve as much as possible the values of them. In a mammoth projects like this, there are always gives and takes - and I think this is the best balance that one can offer on earth!

  • ping ping chao chao ping ping ting shing was all i heard.

  • @kefer123622 I think there was an extra ping... ping, ping ping chao chao ping ping ting shing :-)

  • @hobatu none of what you stated is applicable to the gorgeous

    dam!

  • Wow! It's so beautiful. Congratulations to China and its people :-)

  • @codefault

And there are others that dont care about freedom of speech. Be careful at what you say. We lost all our rights..its over.oil controls

  • @codefault why the fuck are u talking about muslims and not just people? its not necessary to say "muslims" it would have been enough to say people. you just make it sound like its only a bad thing cuz theyre muslim

  • @codefault radical muslims suck, of course were killing them... but only the ones who want to hurt us, there are plenty of peace loving muslims, your not one of them

  • @6mmmmm6 You know who else sucks? Radical Christians. They're just as rabid with the idiotology of hate as any Muslim. Just one problem, Christians have been going out of their way for centuries to kill Muslims. 100s of years ago there was the crusades, now we have the great game in the ME and central Asia. Anglos all over the ME, not the other way around.

  • @6mmmmm6

There was no muslims involved in the wtc "attack" still You attacked muslims due to that.

Realize that your governments are heavily corrputed !

I Love america but she's fucked hard theese days.

  • @codefault You are confusing a nation with people. China's human right ignorance doesn't go away just by finger pointing at other countries. There is no country in the world except China which could take away the homes of millions without asking for permission in the first place.

  • @codefault you speak ignorance and profess foolishness. It's amazing what you think you know. Ignorance can be helped. May you learn sooner rather than later.

  • @codefault follow with me as i reference drugs and ammunition as a car. Drugs and ammunition are only say the tires. Yes they are critical and play a part, but you're skipping over the engine, what actually makes the car go. And thats you and me, the individual. So is it so much the drugs and ammunition that are the killers, or the individual who decides what to do with them?

  • @codefault What has that to do with the Three Gorges dam.....?????

  • @codefault According to CDC, the leading cause of death are diseases, US isn't the only country that has illigal substances in it, it takes extensive measures to protect it's citizens against these but obviously they can't get everyone. "They attack Iraq and Afghanistan killing Millions of Muslims" obviously you can see your own bullshit. the US has had civilian casualties in the middle-east but they aren't commiting genicide of that scale.

  • @codefault also, the US has many programs and companies dedicated to finding greener energy solutions, while as the three gorges dam has caused an ecological instability in the region caused by the change in water elevation from the dam. your just a spastic upset liberal, and should probably get off youtube.

  • @codefault im not saying US is right in this regard, but the US gets their H.R. story on the thousands upon thousands of people who will lose their home and way of life with the completion of this dam

  • @codefault 1. when muslims aren't busy killing others, they usually kill each other. 2. The U.S. BUYS oil from countries. They don't just automatically get it as some sort of spoil of war. 3. The entire arabian peninsula WANTED the U.S. in iraq! They wanted someone to do their dirty work for them!!! 4. Afghanistan doesn't export very much oil.

  • Comment removed

  • @KingTurk16 I know my history, thanks! You're the one who needs do do some learning.

  • @edcoondog Dude wtf do you mean the entire arabian peninsula wanted the us in iraq?? are you stupid? IRAQ was USA's bitch, Saddam was there dog, he did as U.S said and when saddam decided to say no more, US had to take him down! its that simple. Just stop listening to the bs on tv and think about it, a country like USA, prob with the biggest army, biggest allies, biggest pretty much everything needs to do dirty work?? They can go find saddam in 2 or 3 months but they cant find...

  • @edcoondog ...Osama for years??? and Osama you probably don't know this but was trained by the US army, Then he was caught in i believe saudi and handed back to USA right after the 9/11 incident but they decided to let him go?? WHyyy? A country with amazing technology, military and everything else and all this happens? then many years later he is found in a house and shot and thats it? nah bro I am an American Muslim but i am not going against you because i am muslim, i am going against what

  • @edcoondog and think for your self. I would also like to say when usa is spending shit loads money and putting us in farther debt fighting wars that arent ours smart countries like China and japan are investing in new technologies and bridges and buildings!

  • @edcoondog you say because your totally wrong. Muslims are also peace loving people as any other people are but when you have Russians invading afg in 1979 and continued into 80s, when you have big papa USA telling you what to do and having your soldiers run around raping your wifes and killing who stands up to them TRUST ME BROTHER you would also become a terrorist! FOR example What did us do when british triedd controlling them in the 1770's?? Declared war! So stop eating the bs they feed you

  • @quadpod : haha the mexico gulf - enjoy the well-oiled cajun shrimps british syle!

  • @quadpod : I don't need to recap everything I have rewritten in respect of this momentous project to you again. Check my previous reply to similar comments! You appear to be concerned about us, but in fact, in the same vein as other Chinese Bashers, you just take a free ride on the bandwagon and repeat the rubbish again and again!

  • @zeeyeezone Attaccati a questa gran coppola di minchia

  • Its impressing, but will and have caused major problems for both humans and the wildlife, it's sad to see the chinese government acting like this.

  • Beautiful feat of engineering, most impressive in that respect and for that matter well intentioned. However, it's an ecological nightmare and catastrophe waiting to happen. Look at all of the landslides that have occurred-not a good sign. One day the "Mighty Dragon" may bite back...

  • @jackTHEEtab the landslides were from the last quake zone in Sichuan far away from the river. The landslides have nothing to do with the Georgeous Dam!

  • @jackTHEEtab : the ecosystem have already been well taken care of and the wild fives will lourish even better! Landslides are natural phenonmena that happens even b4 the gorgeous dam. Monitoring projects ( for cracks) are well in place!

  • imagine going on a bodyboard on those waves at 3:18

  • So sympatize Thai and Laos citizen who spend their lives with Khong River.

Due to limited water from the three gorges dam in China, it affects life way, environment, shipment and more.

  • @nickoro2 : now you see the difference! what "limited water supply"!

  • Hochtief, the company which was contracted to do the preliminary study on whether a 3GD was economically sound said, 'no'. Largely because when you stop a river which carries as much sediment as the ChangJiang you get inordinate ammounts of sedimentation, which in turn lowers the water level, and thus water pressure. Never mind the millions of people in northern Hunan and southern Hubei who's shit and piss goes into that new lake everyday, creating a an ecological nightmare.

  • @mrplease66 there are massive sanitation and sewage projects that are carrying

on Hunan and Hubei areas along the banks and the river is still flowing well!

  • how many people got relocated? i think most just would have met a flood one day.

  • Really Great........!!!!

Where are all stupid Americans & British.....?

Now they can come to asia pacefic side as labours........!!!

  • @jvabhilash if you hate the british so much, why do you even bother speaking English?

  • @Aspie83 hahahhaha LOL

  • I'm not sure if this idiocity is due to lack of mind or simply a matter of money. how stupid must one be to accumulate such an uncotrollable huge mass of concrete. this material is highly unstable when used in this volumes. you will see this dam breaking apart just because of the inner tension of the concrete modules.

  • Um, maybe you've heard of the Hoover Dam? Rock solid after 70 years, and just getting stronger as time passes.

Of course, I can tell from your language, you ain't no engineer. Maybe stick to commenting on things you actually know something about!

  • @poorcocoboiboi 你咋不死了算了?

  • The main problem is that the 3 Gorges Dam is in an earthquake zone!!!So if there is a strong earthquake that will damage the dam, the huge water masses storm the dam and the earth is torn out of its axis and you propably can emagine what consequences this will have!Yes, 10% of Chinas electricity comes from the Gorges Dam, BUT don't forget that 1500 towns & 4400 villiages were FORCED to resettle in big cities! And now all these people are VERY VERY POOR!!

  • thats the beauty of not caring about human rights, you can get shit done!

  • @JordCarr who cares about human rights? america sure don't but they sure do like to talk like they do.

American history is filled with human rights.... right...

  • @JordCarr This video is about China using eminent domain to develop a green, sustainable energy source. Not about America killing a million Iraqis & turning the entire Gulf of Mexico into a giant oil sludge pit to power its massive fleet of SUVs to transport obese soccer moms & their supersized kids to McDs. Please stay on topic. Kthx

  • @bamb00sage you are not on topic, I am not american and did not say anything about america. Learn to read, kthx.

  • @bamb00sage We import most of our oil from Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. Bet you didn't know that did you? Yeah, it was such a shame for America to liberate Iraq from a murderous dictator that killed his own people. We liberate countries and we always give them back.

    You stupid moron.

  • @marathon1974 correction, they always kick you out.

  • @bamb00sage dams are definitely not "green" and not necessarily sustainable, especially after enough sediment builds up in its reservoir. Please know what the hell you are talking about before you try to rip on people. Kthnx. Jackass.

  • @xmnvbvgzfgvbmghxvbds While the "green" aspects of hydroelectric power are often overstated, there is no doubt this dam has saved thousands of lives and millions of homes in the recent flooding. The flow rate at this area of the Yangtze is much higher now than in 1998, when almost 4,000 people died and 15 million were left homeless.

  • @JordCarr

This dam allows people to breathe better, as it's clean energy. Better than building 500 coal plants in that region. It is FOR human rights, not against them.

  • @Newyorkelover 死!滚!闭嘴!

  • @Newyorkelover:

Our engineers have thought that out!

The construction can withstand quakes in the magnitude of at least one level above the misfortunate Sichuan quakes!

The villagers and people were compensated by the Government or relocated to places where they could start their livelihood or a new career there!

The benefits that bring forward by the Dam are more than the 10% clean energy!

  • @zeeyeezone SO WHILE THE U.S.A IS BLAMED FOR EVERYTHING BAD THAT OCCURS IN THE WORLD,CHINA POLLUTES AND ENDANGERS THE LIVES OF THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS UNCHECKED!

  • @agustindram45 : "unchecked?!" we have spent more on "green" projects than your country! Check it out!

  • @agustindram45 : we are well aware of the damage of pollution to our compatriots and environment and we have invested heavily in coming years to correct the situations as far as we could!

  • @zeeyeezone : I think China is the biggest polluter in the world as it uses a lot of Coal.

  • @Markiv1000 tell this to bp!

the us is the biggest polluter per capita in the world. We are investing heavily in non-fossil fuel energy. You will see a different scenario 10 years down the line.

  • @agustindram45 actually the dam will prevent flooding that had killed over 300,000 people since the 1900-and killed 250,000in 1 year..1931...so how are they endangering lives? and this is suitable energy not burin coals and nuclear plants..

clearly there are more ups then downs.

  • @agustindram45 : no no our GOVERNMENT is tighening the ropes all around on the standard of governance! The vast majority of our fellow Chinese are enjoying the lives of a new China who keeps improving!

  • @Newyorkelover incorrect! the 3 Gorges Dam is built to withstand one level above the severity of Sichuan earthquake! And earthquake of this magnitude only occurs 10,.000 years!

  • The dam itself didn't change anything in the Earth's axis or anything, but if it's tank was filled, it'd contain 40km3 of water, and this fact would have a certain influence on the planets axis, speed or even the length of the day

  • in case earthqwake destroy it,

    this event destroy China itself.

  • In Korean, the Yangtze River ("Yangzi Jiang" in Pinyin) would be called "Yang-ja Gang."

The other name for this, Chang Jiang ("long river"), would be known as "Sang Gang" by the Koreans.

  • I disagree with some of what she said, mostly the Chinese bits.

  • HAHAHHAHAA!!! ditto.

  • you know this damn actually slowed the rotation of the whole planet?

    only by a microsecond though

but its still pretty amazing to think that something built by man can slow down the whole freakin planet

  • if youre thinking along those lines, all that has mass can affect the rotation of the planet. only this dam does it on a different scale than say if you move yourself.

  • she said that is a great dam. lol

  • who of you can speak chinese???

  • not me, but since the dam is in china, it should be in Chinese =)

I still liked the video though =)

  • The three gorges dam in the mainland china .

  • hahaha..... If you' re not happy with this dam, go and complain to the chinese government, or to the people who build it.....

  • wow !!

  • Too often people believe, that technological developments from the industrial West are superior and traditional ideas inferior. This is very problematic because of its one-sideness. Understand it is not the peasant class or the working class benefiting from this dam. The only people benefiting from this dam are multinational corporations and the capitalist that own them. That is the nature of modernization.......

  • @Meant777 "Too often people believe, that technological developments from the industrial West are superior and traditional ideas inferior. "

Get off the internet and stop doing 99% of the stuff you do. Youre such a blithering fool & a hypocrite. Divorce youself from this world and go live as a hippie. :P

  • ITAIPU DAM IS THE BEST

  • China's Three Gorges hydroelectric dam on the Yangtze River will result in the largest forced displacement of people in world's history. Close to 2 MILLION PEOPLE are being relocated to make way for its 365-mile-reservoir.

    What a shame.

  • @Meant777 :

The dusplacement actually resulted in better living and facilities (water, electricity. hygiene ...) and business opportunities in a well-planed and organized communities on higher grounds along the banks. Many who rely on terraced farming now turn into small entrepreneurs who thrives on new business opportunities on transportation, restaurants, hotel, hoticulture ...

  • Through my research I have discovered that this dam has been controversial since its inception, raising concerns among environmentalist around the world, not to mention the peasant farmers living downstream. This dam has resulted in the largest forced displacement of people in WORLD'S HISTORY. Please note, not one social scientist was consulted in the planning and assessment phase of the Three Gorges Dam.

  • If you have done the research then you should know that that the floods of 1954killed 33,169 people and forced18,884,000 people to mov. These sort of events have happened a countless number of times throughout Chinese history and the building of the dam was to prevent, if not, lessen the impact of such catastrophic events. The dam will be viewed as a positive construction just like other works such as the Grand Canal of China.

  • @Bloodlovefreak: Correct!

It's a SHAME for those ignorant, semi-educated or even the educated to jump on the bandwagon to criticize China for the sake of demonizing anything

that draws the envy of the world.

Because of the dam, flooding of a catastrophical magnitude will only occur once in a century,

    .

  • LOL...By no means am I criticizing my brothas and sistas in China. I am criticizing the "modernization" process that these multi-nat corps are trying to spread to poor countries. Please understand that Dams are potent symbols of triumphant technology and progress. (Progress=Westernization)In the second half of the twentieth century the number of large dams rose from 5 000 to 45 000. Many have failed to deliver the promised benefits of increased electricity and agricultural productivity.

  • Dams are controversial not only because they break up communities but also because they:

flood valuable farmland and animal habitat

capture sediment which backs up, restricts water flow and eventually reduces hydroelectric potential

    endanger freshwater habitats

spread diseases by encouraging insects that thrive in stagnant reservoir water

submerge archaeologically and culturally significant sites

introduce the risk of catastrophic dam failures.

  • all those defects relative and subsequent to the construction are well considered prior to the commission and non-recoverable losses are reduced to the minimum.

The decision to build the dam was not actuated by a snap of fingers

  • @Meant777 "I am criticizing the "modernization" process that these multi-nat corps are trying to spread to poor countries"

................. Are you serious? Are you freaking ,serious? Ive debated 911 twoofers, flat earthers, hollow earthers, creationists... but you must be thicker than all of the above.

You would rather people starve to death and live in squalor? Its not the West.. its the right way to do things..... an efficient usage of scarce resources is OBVIOUSLY the right path

  • The Chang Jiang river has been a challenge to Chinese people for thousands of years. CCP has subdued this dragon at last.

  • @Bloodlovefreak

The benefits far outweights the negatives

  • 2012 lol

  • I've been reading about this. It has been said that this dam messes with the ecosystem by creating strange storms. There has also been about 91 collapses around the shore around the reservoir due to extreme pressure and flooding. Already 1.3 million people have been displaced because of the dam, and it is killing multiple aquatic species... Sure, it may produce 18000 megawatts of power, but people need to look at the bigger picture.

  • @AcrippledBADGER

    UNTRUE AND LIBEL!

The benefits of constructing the DAM far outweights the negatives!

  • Yah, how?

  • @AcrippledBADGER

    1. ecosystem will be regenerated by itself after taking it's time to adjust to the new milieu.

    2. Eco-scientists and biologists are successfully breeding endangered species, such as the most notable Yangtze Sturgeons ... etc.. It will take time for the species to adapt to the environment

    3. re-inforcements and monitoring systems are being done on slopes which could pose a threat due to the pressure as u said. Until now, some RMB 2 billions have been spent
