michael and david are quite correct here, the british people are not facing up to the financial situation. they think that life is going to go on as before. ask the man in the street about reduced rubbish collections, hospital closures, reducing the no. of teachers, reduction in liesure centre and swimming pool hours, no more new school/ hospital builds, reduced care for the elderly, no free bus travel.........etc...they will laugh. and that list is just for starters.
