  • Excellent . My type of music . And very attractive woman . What else do you need .

  • the more I listen to Celtic Woman, the more I love Irish music. and I'm not even Irish. THANK YOU CW <3

  • All of them are ghile meares!(Gallant Darlings)...

  • Mairead downes?

  • @coastersnchinchillas .. what? :p

  • too bad I don't understand Gaelic (yet...)

  • @221984Jack "He is my hero, my dashing darling. He is my Caesar, dashing darling. Rest or pleasure I did not get since my dashing darling went far away."

  • @221984Jack..The language is Gaeilge NOT Gaelic...Gaelic isn't a language it's a language family that has several languages and dialects..Gaeilge is the official language of Ireland...

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • @Tigresswoman97

Gotta say that I agree. Her voice on the cd version sounds better. She seems to struggle with singing in a softer voice.

  • 1:57 - Well, it sounds like Simba has arrived in Ireland.

  • @yaphi1 My thought exactly.... XDDD

  • @yaphi1 lol i think simba was allways in ireland its the rest of the world stole it from us lol ...

  • THE BEST EVER.

  • @bweber2k This group is from the Republic of Ireland. They've had their own problems with England!

  • @bweber2k well that's not very nice. That is kind of stereotypical. Besides, the Africans had their share of slaves too.

  • This song is absolutely AMAZING!!!

My dream is to see Celtic Woman in concert! Then, and only then, will my life finally be complete :D

  • @94palindrome I saw them live in concert about three years ago at Wolf Trap in Virginia, it was well, breathtaking, the entire crowd was sobbing after Danny Boy, and one song about the trip from Ireland to America (Isle of Tears I think?)

  • If all songs had a drum solo like this there would be world peace.

  • It's songs like this that make me wish I knew what they were saying... :)

  • they all are wonderful --but Mairead is beyond stunning -talent as well as beauty...I have yet to settle on an adequate word for her.

  • Sometimes when I try to comment all I can say is, "Oh, God! Oh, God!". But usually all I can manage is, "Oh, oh, oh!"

  • from heaven, with love ..... CELTIC WOMAN

  • Bom de mais !!!!

  • I love this song, it makes me want to dance around my room lol

  • they always have long music solo's

  • I love the castles that the CELTIC WOMAN have their concerts at !!!!!! CAW

  • 2:50 Sending the mission!!!

  • Their music is so amazingly powerful. It almost hurts. I can literally feel in my heart and soul. I can't even breathe right now.

  • I agree, the percussion section of this orchestra is unbeatable as well as the rest of the orchestra. You got two thumbs up!

  • This is great! good thing they put some life into the song (other versions are boring)

  • so i first heard these lovely ladys in a little pagan shop on CD about 3 years ago and I fell in love with them... it wasnt until a few days ago when i saw them on KQED and I couldnt stop listening to them. I looked them up about 9pm tonight and now it is midnight!! This son by far is my favorite and I declared it as my weddin song!! lol

  • @bravechix1..Not exactly a wedding song...the song is an Irish homage to Bonnie Prince Charlie, son of Mary Queen of Scots...He tried to seize the throne, but his rebellion was put down and he fled to the continent and died in exile...

  • @gaeilge1O1

sorry i'm sure you're partly right but Mary Queen of Scotts only had one son James the First of England and 6th of Scotland

  • @AirallialeFay...Ok you got me I said son instead of descendant....

  • @gaeilge1O1 ooohhhh i didnt know that thanks. I shouldve actually looked that up. Thanks. you got to admit though it is a fun and catchy song but your right its not a wedding song. :)

  • Wow, the choir is awesome. :)

  • haha, drummer battle =)

  • They made this sound like a Disney Song!

    (That's a compliment BTW)

    :D

  • this is actually just fucking incredible.

  • I saw them in concert a few years ago. Their whole show is just awesome. I'm not sure if my nationality has anything to do with it, but the music feels like it lives within.

  • I love how you can tell Chloe is dying to just burst out and start dancing... :D

  • @xXxSailorNekoxXx...Well if anyone was going to burst out and dance it WOULD be Chloe...

  • I went to their concert last saturday and it was BEAUTIFUL! I sooo love them singing :) I bought the songs-from-the-heart dvd <3 and this song is definitely my favorite one! I hope they'll make another tour so that I can go to see them again :)

  • i think they should of sang MO GHILE MEAR last insted of YOU RAISE ME UP for that day they did it on their songs from the heart album YOU RAISE ME UP is still a good song though :)

  • HAYLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this has brought my faith back in music

  • And...Mairead comes flying in! No, I don't think she walked, she flew.

  • @AmethystAnna The expert lighting crew avoided illuminating her gossamer wings.

  • Mairead is awesome. I don't know how she does it prancing around with her violin and playing so nicely but she's just incredible :)

  • The incredible production values of all the Celtic Woman shows is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you to all the performers and the production crews. Without the guys backstage on the audio and video and lighting, we would not have the opportunity to enjoy these truly gifted folks every day.

  • PonineTeazerBlaze Her name is Orla Fallon

  • @tyh123ful Thanks!!

  • Veronica, with the violin, is beautiful! XD

  • @JackBootLip That's Mairead (Irish for Margaret) that plays the violin. And yes she is a beautiful and talented lady!

  • @IntoTheMystical I love that she always has a smile when performing; a sign of one who truly loves her art.

  • @internetbites Exactly. When you love what you do, it's not work.

  • I love the one in the purple and red dress, what's her name please?

  • the one in the paler red dress has the sweetest voice, the one that sang "the voice"

  • @rainbowave777 That would be Lisa Kelly.

  • 93 dislikes are from drummers everywhere who were jealous of 2:36 - 3:09

  • Nobody can do what Maíréad does. She's an excellent violinist/fiddler, and hops around that stage in HEELS!

  • beautiful

  • To be honest, I dont understand a single thing from the Gaeilge they sing :P

But despite that I really love this and every song they sing!

  • @BastiaanSpeksnijder This song is an Irish homage to the "Great Pretender", Bonnie Prince Charlie, the descendant of Mary Stewart, who had ambitions to the throne of Britian. The rebellion was put down, and the prince fled to the Continent under secrecy and died in exile.

  • I've always enjoyed singing with them from the computer. But I think if I ever got asked to sing on stage, I'd croak from shyness.

  • @BrienaSkysong1 Same here, always singing along when listening to it, but if they'd ever throw me on a stage, I'd suddenly have forgotten where my voice is. =']

  • I love how Mairead just comes running out smiling and prancing. :D

  • @WolfLover284284 She's their Faery ^-^

  • @WolfLover284284 im convinced now that she is a sprite.,or a fiddle farie

  • @WolfLover284284 she always looks like she's truly enjoying herself when she plays

  • @WolfLover284284 Me too. She just comes sprinting out of no where... in heels. thats talent

  • If every song had a drum solo like this there would be world peace!

  • @WolfLover284284 People have said this before but i'll say it again Shes too ethereal to be human she is a fairy from folklore come to share her talents with the world of man

  • The first time I heard this song, I loved it. I had never heard any other version, so Celtic Woman deserves credit for exposing it to the world. I have heard the more "traditional" versions since then, and this one still is my favorite, even if it might be a shade different than others. I dearly wanted to hear it live, and when they finally did it at a concert I attended, it totally blew me out of my seat.

  • Dude is rockin them drums rofl.

  • love love it all iam amsed how they have so much talent

  • Well I think their interpretation of the song doesn't fit the content. It sounds far too happy for my taste, it should be sung more grave and melancholic. But this is just my point of view, Iam not saying that the Celtic Woman can't sing ^^

  • I love love love them!

  • Yeah. He is a hard rock fan and negative to boot. :(

  • wonderful

  • I read someone giving credit to the drummers in some of the Celtic Woman clips. As he already said, they are so good and energetic giving vibrance to all the girls music. Give them a thumbs up!

  • @Tomap974 The drums didn't seem to be so happy.

  • @Tomap974 drums are power and rymtham, so it goes nicly with feminine voices

  • Happy birthday Orla!!

    You´re a great singer!

  • my brother really could say alot of negative things about them but, me nothing it sounds too beautiful

  • @JesusInMe4Ever2 I really don't think anybody could say anything negative about these ladies. Unless he knows something i don't. Is he some kind of a hard rock fan or something?

  • @squidoogeek I'm a hard rock fan, but I love CW's singing, such passion and energy

  • ladies you are great! the hardest working women in business! i love this music and the shows even though i do not understand a single word in irish :D but i guess that's not as important, sounds great anyway ^^ máiréad <3

  • I think they should do a PBS special and call it CELTIC WOMAN UNITED and have all 10 of all the members perform

  • Coming to the US very Soon. I can't Wait!!

  • I love them!!!!

  • it's like watching a fairy tale!

  • Mairead Nesbitt = Tinker Bell with a fiddle!

  • Tarzan drums :)

  • I switched tabs at 0:50 and seriously thought she was breathing fire. X.x

  • How can she run and jump and dance and not miss a beat?!?! I trip for no reason!!

  • @13ivys she didn't jump, can't you see her dragonfly-like wings? She was flying!!!!

  • @13ivys....Years and years of practice.....

  • This song combines everything great about Celtic Woman. The voices, the percussion, the violinist and the culture, all perfectly wrapped up in this one song.

  • not the first person to say this, but I'll say it anyway: ever notice that NOBODY ever has anything negative about these women? Probably one of the times you would see that on this websight. Isn't it neat?

  • it would be amazing if lynn, alex, lisa lambe, and dedrie came with this group and sang this song

  • she reminds me of an elf too!!! :)

  • Is e seo piosa ceol ma chuaillain tu i do cloigan ar feadh do beatha

    Gearoid

  • Biggest drumkit in history?

  • This should be the song they end eevery concert with!

  • the girls are awsome and the drums rock .... I LOVE THIS SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thumbs up if you know how hard it is to play the violin well while dancing in high heels!

  • mooi muziek, fantastische stemmen

  • @bennieke1978 Helemaal mee eens xD

  • @bennieke1978 weet je hoeveel cd 's er uitgebracht zijn

  • actually I've never been able to understand why some "purists" have criticized celtic women, but today after wiki-ing the song I begin to concur with some of their arguments: the song is actually very sad: the original lyrics are not positive or comforting, in the style of many traditional gaelic songs this song is a lament about a personified Ireland that is fatigued and helpless. In CW's add'n of nice and heartwarming english lyrics the song is "watered down" and the original message lost.

  • @skyciele Kieran says you're a twat

  • 91 people can go screw themselves

  • Chloë is the image of beauty!

  • Why would anyone thumbs down this. They are great and positive lyrics, very inspirational. And slightly hypnotic

  • anyone know why most of the women sing with slightly bent arms hanging at their sides? Does it enhance their ability to sing, or relax them so they can better project? I'm not too savvy on why certain things are done when singing but noticed this common trait.

  • @goodalle1987 The arm position allows a greater lung expanse and is the proper form.

  • @Gizmologist09 mmm, thanks I was thinking it was probably something like that but wasn't sure :) I never have proper form when I sing as it's mostly in the car or when walking around the house doing stuff so yeah!

  • That was awesome! My favorite group is Celtic Women!:)

  • indeed

  • Think I am going to be sick

  • gotta love drum solos

  • @gaeilge101 I apologize if you didn't get the reply about whether or not I was attending the DVD recording in Atlanta. I don't know how to reply on an i phone. I will most likey be attending

  • @ladymusic14 Yeah that's what I meant. It's just that I didn't really explain myself that well 

  • @LisaKellyFan1 uhmmm... what I mean is that Meav, Orla, Hayley, Chloe and Lisa are perfect combination for this group (in my opinion)... :)

  • beautiful song! for the first time since a long while I actually had shivers when listening :D

  • what dose this song mean?

  • @nightrodspeciallover It´s about an Irish woman who is a widow now. Her husband or dashing darling (ghile mear) is not dead but far away.

  • @nightrodspeciallover This song is an Irish homage to the "Great Pretender", Bonnie Prince Charlie, som of Mary Queen of Scots. His loyal followers of the Jacobite movement fought for him to take possession of the crown . The rebellion was put downand the prince fled to the Continent under secrecy and died in exile.

  • @gaeilge1O1 oh ic. i love this song. dont you? do you like celtic thunder?

  • @nightrodspeciallover...Well lets see...I'm Irish, I live in Ireland, ...I work with Celtic Woman and you ask if I like Celtic Thunder...hmmmmm..... to use an American quote....Just a bunch of "Johnny come latelys, using CW's success as a springboard...

  • @gaeilge1O1 rrrright okay umm cool. so what your trying to tell me is that your more in to CW then CT right?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @gaeilge1O1 I agree. I have not been impressed with Celtic Thunder as they sing nice but there is nothing unique about them. After CW I would prefer Anuna as their style is so unique and precise.

  • @gaeilge1O1 I have always wondered about the "thunder" in the group's name. I have seen nothing dramatic or unique. Celtic woman and their entire ensemble are unique, vibrant and extremely powerful no matter what the song. CW is DEFINITELY in class by itself. NO COMPETITION.

  • @gaeilge1O1 BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! that's soooooo funny cuz it's soooooo true!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • @gaeilge1O1 I've got 2 Questions about the Celtic woman

    1. Do they watch these videos and

    2. HOW DO THEY SOUND SO AMAZING Sometimes I think they are better at singing then angels.

  • @Satar63...I can't answer number 1..they may..but I'm not sure..

number 2 is easy..they sound the way they do because they are all extremely talented ladies and have put in years of practice...All these ladies have been performing for years and had careers before joining CW...

  • @gaeilge1O1 How is the new drummer working out? Is he as tight with Ray as Nicki was? Is Nicki just on hiatus or has he moved on?

  • @Gizmologist09..They got it together.....And no return for Nicky

  • @Gizmologist09 I learned in twitter that Nicky has his own group, "Extreme Rhythm". He has upcoming tour dates, so sounds like he is doing well.

  • @ladymusic14 Good point, because I can't visualize Hayley singing Ni'l Sen La (sorry about the spelling). I love all of the singers!!!

  • the newcomers have great voices but the original member plus hayley were perfect for this group

  • @cbrme97 Wouldn't that just mean Lisa Lambe?

  • I think there would be world peace if every song had violin and drum solos like this!

  • I wished Orla , Meav and Hayley didn't leave the group... They're wonderful singers :)

  • @ladymusic14 Yea. I don't like the new people very much.

  • @cbrme97...Who do you mean by new people??? the only "new" person is Lisa Lambe..and we are lucky to have her...She is an award winning performer and she fits right in...She's just as crazy as the rest of us....

  • @ladymusic14 Oh. I didn't know. I thought they still had Alex and That one other girl. I don't think I have heard Lisa Lambe. Thanks for letting me know! I'll be sure to listen to her!
