• Seriously? He committed suicide?

What a pussy way out. He shoulda just bulked up and kicked their asses.

  • i knew him wow surprising u knw it makes think twice before u do something rash

  • May God bless this precious little boy, Jaheem Herrera, and comfort his beloved friends and family. We will never know what a shining light he would have been in this world, but hopefully he was here just long enough to make a positive difference in all of our lives.

  • ahhhhhhhhh thats soo sadd fuck everyone who made fun of him

  • my 15 yr old cousin did the same thing in Jan 2009. It is so sad, and no one knows...I mean the schools dont even care, they just dont want to be held responsible- but when you go to them numerous times, and then something like this happens- we need to start also making police reports and documenting this stuff.

  • breaks my heart

  • God..they got babies killing themselves. SMH. Poor fella. I know somewhat how he must have felt. Bullying should be taken so much more seriously than it is. May this angel R.I.P.

  • Yeah, this is real sad.....I feel so bad for his family. It's really unfortunate that for some people the only way out is suicide. I had to deal with a bully for about 4 months...It was the worst time of my life. I eventually just lost my mind on him. He had to go the hospital because I broke his nose and dislocated his jaw, and I was the one who got suspended from school, when my parents asked why the school replied by saying "boys will be boys and your son retaliated, so he got suspended"

  • Oh, my God....he was beautfiul. Im sure he was a wonderful child...its a shame he had to die. There should be more positive people for kids to look up to, namely thier parents...ppl are so quick to judge and fuck shit up, makin ppls lives miserable.

  • Jia, thank you so much for putting this up. You are very much appreciated.

  • this is soooo sad.i really feel for his parents. i hope she sues this school and wins. people should teach there kids not to bully.

  • Thats Fucked up They should go talk to them kid who where messing with him before the try to do something to there self .They made him take that way out but they might think they killed him ,but the had and helping hand.

  • This is what I don't get ? The church will sit there deliberatly and lead anti gay hateful congregations against gay people and preach against something they have no understanding about AT ALL ... If an 11 yr old child can kill themselves because of homophobic taunts, this should show or lead people to understand that him being gay is not a choice. If he could change, he would... ? Society has such an ill and sick understanding of those that are different mentally backed by religious philosophy

  • This is just sooo sad, kids can be soo cruel. I feel so bad for his family, so upsetting.

  • OMG, HE WAS SUCH A CUTE BOY.. =[

  • this is such a tragedy..last year a 14yr girl did the same thing. sad

  • That is so terrible! Their so young, and killing themselves. A lot of schools don't get involved, and just say "kids'll be kids". Until one kills themself, then their like "Oop". Some people just make horrible parents, because that's where those others learned it from. It's truely sad on both parts.

    xoxo * QU!NN

  • This story realy hit home because I have two young sons, so I really felt the pain. This young boy was only 11 years old and some bullys labeled hiim gay and he took his life. Very sad to think of the possibilities of a young life gone too sone, RIP!!

  • So he wasn't really gay?

  • Thanks to the likes of Jerry Falwell & Rod Parsley, homophodium ...(homophobia+odium)... will persist in this country.

Their "Brainwashed-Sheep" congregation members are to feeble-minded to start thinking for themselves instead of following JESUS's true message of Love, Tolerance & Equality.

These "False Prophet" Peachers dared to use JESUS's name to spew their vitriolic hatred, bigotry & prejudice on our fellow man.

  • So hes gay and killed himself?

Where the fuck are the parents

  • All ya'll just need to watch how ya'll treat people because eventually it's gonna go one or both of 2 ways either they gonna kill ya'll and or themselves.

  • Yeah the kids are learning this from the parents it is terrible that people haven't learned to just accept PEOPLE not their race, religion, sexual preference just accept the person. So sorry for the families loss.

  • Yes so sad, and I can not believe some of the things that come out of the mouths of my 9 year olds friends mouths. Stops me cold at times. But I just tell them to be nice. What do I do? I just can not believe that parents are feeding them this garbage and hate. And everytime I hear something terrible come out I know it's really the parents. It sucks and I wish it weren't so.

  • SAD!!!

  • this is crazy, i don't fault the kids who were taunting him. i fault the parents. we as adults have to set better examples for our children. kids are like empty containers, they are filled by what we put in them.

  • Circumstances like these always leave a terrible taste in my mouth. So sad, it's heartbreaking. I wish his parents the best.

  • Few points I want to make.... HIS MOTHER SAID THAT HE WAS NOT GAY.. There is no Actual PROOF that he was gay.... Maybe he WAS NOT GAY.... and the fact he was labeled gay and he could not stop them from teasing him was the reason he did it... He apparently had some issues internally or he would not have committed suicide... therefore this is not a GAY issue it is a mental health issue... Of course maybe being GAY is a mental health issue as well! Anyway....Don't be a bleeding heart!

  • "ThePatrioticVeteran"You seem to be missing the pount. okay soooo, it may not be a "Gay" issue but it is an issue full of discrimination, he was bullied because he looked differnt and talked differently! either way it goes he WAS PROVOKED......LETS SEE IF YOU WERE TAUNTED EVERY DAY IF THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE "MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES".....Judging from your comment you probably have children who go to school and taunt other children becasue they learn to be assholes just like you!

  • SMH......this is so sad....hadn't even heard about it.....R.I.P lil man

  • I'll say this though,Ive no time for bully's AT ALL. They ruin lives,it scars many people and very often they never recover from it.

  • Bullies are coward in nature. They always surround themselves with same minded individuals, when they attack students perceived as being weak or different.

During my school days (and later in the Military) I was a stern defender of the little guy against big bullies.

I learned to confront the leading bully by himself, without his "entourage" and as a coward that he is, he always pissed his pants.

  • I dob't think children are learning this from their parents at all, children are cruel its just how they are, they bully other children for all manner of reason, ginger hair, fat kid, glasses wearing kid, spotty kid, black kid, white kid and so on and so on.

  • "70Mack" a parent knows there child, if a child does these types of things they need to be put in there place and regardless of what you say children repeat what they see and hear!....stop leeting them watch nonsense on tv, play violent video games, and say whatever they want to say and maybe we won't have to continue to bury more innocent children....just because it is common for children to pick on one another, does not mean it is right..and teachers and school officials need to step up also.

  • He was so young. This shit needs to stop. Bullying is not the business. There needs to be a better sense of urgency with these so called parents raising their children with respect.

  • This is very sad.

  • that made me sick to my stomach. everyone who has children should be immediately affected by this and automatically needs to think about what your child does in school. my daughter is only 6, she started fighting because of bullying. and the girls cut her hair even, so she retaliated. but i put a stop to that, i told her to walk away and inform. now shes a star student. people dont give a fuck man. its ridiculous. they let these bad motherfuckas go to school only to be watched and not taught

  • wow...as a gay woman i want to thank you for putting this up and here and speaking up! thank you and these kids are products of the bullshit their family speaks and teaches them...this right here made me cry it really did...imma post a response..thanks for posting this jia for realz!

  • Omg ..WOW i cannot believe this type of ish is going on! I have a 11 year old and i cannot imagine the pain these mothers felt seein there child hanging and have 2 cut them down! Im so pissed right now! Y..How...wtf is goin on in America!!

  • Damn Jia now you went and added something to my list to vlog about thank you so much

  • Sadly, as long as people remain people rather than robots, the hate will never really end. We all have to do our own part to end it.

  • Tragic story indeed yet far from unique or new. I was once this little boy during the 70's constantly taunted by individuals, groups, the whole school. I lived it every single day. I know exactly how this kid felt.

Schoolmates I didn't even know knew my name and felt free to shout insults or inflict physical jabs just walking down the hall.

Now 47, I remember it like it was yesterday. I could never treat another person the way I was treated but I survived and am all the stronger for it.

    RIP

  • stop the hate!

may that boy rest in peace.

  • OMG--I am speechless..

  • i have been bullied a lot at school, there's one time where i got in trouble for defending myself and i calmly told the principal i was getting bullied by the dude but she kept arguing with me that "bullying" doesn't require verbal abuse which she's wrong. so i just switched school because the system was so corrupted

  • man i hated elementary school i got made fun of mercilessly because i was so short and my family was poor so everything i owned was baggy hand me downs from whoever was willing to give us cloths, stains rips and all, it didnt help that my mom refused to help me understand why the kids seemed to hate me just cuz of my height and cloths, we need to train our teacher to notice stress in kids so we can get them help, kids are cruel it isnt because of parents, thats just life

  • soo sad... was a abduction friday with some brown tahoe... shyt is just crazy!

  • Schools do NOT help. I was bullied. Told the teachers. Nothing happened. One day i got mad and beat the shit outta my bully. Guess who got suspended?

  • Speaking from experience the ONLY way to deal with bullies is self defence. Only problem is we no longer live in the days where people used their fists. Now people use guns and a bully wont let the shame of getting their ass kicked rest easily.

  • Yea, it was a longer time ago. My bad. Well his name was Aquan Lewis. However the family was fighting for a ruling other than suicide.

  • Jia,

I think there was a thrid that happened due to bullying. The boy was 10. Maybe it was older than a month.

  • The part where you said, "Y'all know how I feel about gays"...what did you mean?

  • I live in Atlanta and this is very sad. The teachers, school and the school district has to be held accountable. This has to stop!

  • yes, depression is a serious issue, and even though someone is smiling on the outside it does not mean their world is crumbling. please, let's take care of each other.

let us stop the hate, be it homophobia, white supremacy, anti-homelessness- whatever it is...

  • So sad.

  • I have a friend whose 11 yr. old cousin committed suicide a few years ago. The family (parents and sister) said they had no idea but the boy was "hearing voices" and "seeing things". No one bothered to check him out. My friend and I both suspect that the kid was probably gay and was being picked on or scared to come out to his parents. Or maybe he did come out to them and they rejected him and he couldn't take it. It is very sad that babies this young are struggling and no one is listening.

  • this is beyond sad and it kinda hits home because my lil brother is somewhat going through the same, but he gets into fights though. I blame the parents for raising these type of children

  • OMGGGGG i cannot believe the shit that goes on in this world. I don't know why people can't let people live the way they want to. These poor kids...R.I.P.

  • I have been called gay at school so much, it hardly bothers me anymore.

    RIP Jaheem <3

  • i dunno if y'all notice, it's not just the hate, people also in general is committing suicide left and right! some is also taking there family with them. Suicide rate is up the roof. i dunno whats going on but its scary, 2 people i knew committed suicide 2 weeks ago, one jumped into a tractor trailer, and one drove his motorcycle to a back of an SUV. R.I.P Howard Ward and Gerald Jenkins. Rockland NY!

  • This is so sad words can't even dissect it

  • damn dis is so F'ed up he was just a baby. ima haftapray real hard dis 1 2nite

  • fucking sad, it's to many cases like these. bullying is a more serious issue than some people may think..

  • STORNGEST LIVE FOREVER

  • Thats sad very sad....I haven't heard about this at all suripisingly since I live on St. Croix.

  • That's some ole BULLSHIT!

I would've been ALL UP IN THROUGH that school knockin' kids down.

    I don't think it'll EVER stop.

    It won't.

Not as long as their are people like that in the world raising their children to hate.

    Hate is taught... not love.

  • You parents out there really need to address this issue w/ your children and teach them that their words and actions could really hurt and lead to things like this... no child should ever hate life this much! Every child deserves better. Thank you Jia for posting the info in your description.

  • I cried my eyes out when i watched the media clip on this. I felt such sorrow in my heart for this young child and his mother. I said a prayer for the child and his family. Some type of prevention program should take place in these schools. I mean this boy was 11 years old and he felt that his life was so hard and worthless that he had to end it to get rid of his pain. ELEVEN!!! This just breaks my heart and I hope these schools do more to protect children from bullying.

  • this has to stop, kids are learnin this from their parents and takin it to these schools and makin kids lives hell. Im havin a problem right now with some kids that ride my sisters bus and i think i need to take a stand and get this corrected before this, god forbid, happens to my family

  • Thanks for the info on the fund Jia. I'll look into it tomorrow and hope the branches out in AZ are aware of the fund.

  • I'm soo happy you're also bringing attention to this. I've been doing the samething on my facebook and myspace and livejournal. This really needs to be brought to the forefront.

The sad part is that the parent of this child did everything the right. She contacted the school numerous times, went there in person, did what she could.

The school system has once again let another child down with their lack of action. This shit is getting ridic.

  • wow....

  • I read another story about a boy who killed himself because of bullying. .and it makes me cry and really depressed that kids are bullied.. let alone bullied to the point where their young minds think about suicide..

  • tragic !!! there needs to be a way for children around the world to get help ! maybe a website where children could go to get advice !

  • Situations like this always makes me want to cry, when i was in school I was bullied and teased and did have incidents when i was in the bathroom where I thought a particular person was going to do something to me, luckily they didn't...I feel for the boy who killed himself because there were times where I would with hold everything until I got home from school and I would feel like I would want to kill myself...very sad situation.

  • that's sad as hell, we all know where some of this shit comes from and it all starts at home. damn dem haters.

  • I think a lot of parents dont care about kids being bullied unless its their kids as the victim.. but it shouldnt be like that, bullying is unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated in the school environment.

  • As sad as this story is I would like to say that the child was teased and accused of being gay with no evidence, let alone some one saying they "saw" him "acting gay". All because he was different. I cant help but make s connection to this story and your post on Brian Plumper.

  • Very tragic.

  • This will continue in America as long as the FATHER is not involved in a kid's life. The FATHER would most likely have been able to give advice that could serve as protection or how to deal with the problem.

LADIES IF YOU LOVE YOUR FUTURE CHILDREN- PICK A GOOD HUSBAND FIRST AND THEN HAVE CHILDREN. YOUR KIDS WILL BE EMOTIONALLY RICHER THAN 70 PERCENT OF THE OTHER KIDS

  • That's crazy!!

It's these parents who say all sorts of anti-gay stuff... all in the name of religion.

I could go on a rant of how religion is to blame for the "down-low" phenomna, but of course here it is inappropriate.

Anyways, my condolences go out to the family and these parents gotta watch what they say around their kids, for they will adopt the very same attitudes, whether they be anti-gay, anti-black, etc...

  • very sad and tragic, poor little fella

fucking punks who bullied him should get theirs

  • The video of the mother talking about finding the lifeless body of her child is heart wrenching.

And to think that there are parents who condone/take part in this shit. Remember the GROWN woman who was taunting a KID (who eventually committed suicide as a result of the bullying) on MySpace? Ugh! Thanks for the info, Jia!

  • so true. all this hate bullshit has to stop. let people be who they are.

  • It's a shame.

  • Wow that is really sad and unfortunate. I think that the person who did this needs to be locked away for life! Personally, I don't have any problems with anyone because of their lifestyle. If it don't apply let it fly. And other people need too start doing the same, just because someone doesn't fit the norm that society has molded does not give anyone the right to tahe another human life. Anyways, that my opinion on the subject.

  • My brother is the same age and he's going through the same exact thing...

except for the physical part...we already moved him from one school to another and it before we knew it..the same shit started happening again..i'm a senior in hs..and i got picked on..but i always seemed to know how to handle my situations...my brother on the other hand has never been as strong as i've always been..i'm tired of seeing my ittle brother with his head down, coming home crying & afraid to go to school....

  • absolutely heartbreaking. 11?! I am teary right now. How bad must the bullying have been for an 11 yr old to say ive had enough. How does he even know that he can end himself that way. It's just too much. the world is just getting worst and worst. And his poor mother, hearing her speak was just too heartbreaking.

  • This is so heartbreaking....Parents have got to get more involved and LISTEN to your children asked them about there day everyday!!! Any child who had a part in harassing this poor child need to be held accountable!...I have a 7th grader and I have called or went up to the school on several occasions regarding situation that my son relayed back me that actually had nothing to do with him but I knew the school needed to know!!!

  • Ignorant children caused by ignorant or oblivious parents... this is too sad and now a young boy is gone because of this :-(

  • SMH.

    unbelievable..

    thats ridiculous.

    this is something that

    could have been prevented.

  • my heart hurts for both of these little boys AND their families. i remember going through the same thing when i was their age. it was rough for me but there were always teachers and administrators who stepped in. i guess im one of the lucky ones. their suffering is over now...

  • agreed.

it's sad how people judge others just because of how they love differently.

  • Omg....My heart goes out to his mother.

I hope God gives her serenity to somewhat cope with this terrible & unecessary tragedy.

Rest in peace lil angel Jaheem Herrera ♥

  • R.I.P. to him and Carl may their families stay strong

  • definetly

  • Damn lil dude killed himself... how? that's sad tho, i have a video up on here where this girlfrom utube was murdered about a week ago

  • Wow..this is so sad..that principle needs to be fired.

  • God, this is so sad. This baby was goin thru so much pain and everyone was ignorin it. This is crazy. babies are killin themselves left and right. this world is cruel. This kid was beautiful and gifted and the world didn't show him that.

  • How sad

  • awful.

  • This breaks my heart.

  • I almost commited suicide a number of times in Jr High & High School|My high school teacher said if I was going to commit suicide then don't come to school anymore, so I dropped out of HS and finished HS later|Bullying is unacceptable|And my heart goes out to the family|

  • this definitely has to stop.

  • Sad new's.

  • another baby. wow.! :(

  • This is one of the reasons why a lot of parents i know home school their children. These so called school officials are only concerned about their paycheck and not the children.

  • OMG that is so sad.=(

  • that was a child.

i hate the people in this world who believe that beating and taunting the gay out of children will actually prove effective.

all that does is scar a child and in this case kill them.

    SHAME.

    THE ILLUSTRIOUS ONE

    SAHYID

  • i didnt notice anything about him being gay..but i didnt watch the video either..but 5th grade...what next 1st and 2nd graders?? these kids are dying by their own hand...just makes me want to cry :-(

  • smfh..they put kids in juvie halls for acting up they need to start focusing on the parents and sending them off to some kind of camps and get them some act right also..

  • SMH

  • wow..i'm speechless

  • So Sad, Parents need 2 Set an Example For They Kids

  • thats is sooo sad!

    people need to stop this

i heard about this story yesterday also

and i believe its the school board fault and the parent they could stop this from happening...

  • OMG..........lost for words

  • the last days are, the bible told us there will be bad things happening,

  • last days?..bad things have been happening even b4 slavery..we all need to change! and stop making excuses for the things going on in the world if people really believed in all the things written in the "bible" these type of things wouldnt happen..things like this happen and we Roar,(hurricane katrina, bart accident, etc)then months go by and the roaring stops..we have to keep roaring and screaming at the top of our lungs combined with action until people see that $h!+ like this isnt accepted!..

  • You are right these appear to be the signs of the last days, now we have the swine flu outbreak. Maybe America is being punished for all the innocent men, women and children George Bush killed in Iraq? you never know

  • Tragic indeed. I was somewhat bullied as a kid but never thought about suicide. Times are changing and parents on both sides are so busy nowadays they aren't as involved with their kids lives as they should be. This cannot continue.

  • Even when you say nothing you speak volumes.

  • Omg..totally agree!

  • yeah i tell my daughter you cant fight every time or even trip just cuz some1 says something about you. she is starting to experience the "fakeness" of girls. u know how some of us can be sometimes. but it hurts her sometimes and i just tell her no one knows nothing about her and they just say stuff cuz they're jealous or feel bad about themselves, so if sum1 talks about you just ignore it but its when they wanna go a step further and put their hands on you, then u defend urself.

  • EXACTLY, TS! It pisses me off how bullying, esp. of the homophobic brand, are taken so lightly. I guess it would be when the adults themselves are ignorant bigots. I was recently in a classroom when a kid said the f-word. The other adults acted as if he said "jerk." When I said something the vibe was like, "What's the problem?" Fucking morons. I've even had ppl (supposedly educated) ask me, "Why do you care; you're not gay." Isn't that crazy?!

So sad. This shit is completely unacceptable.

  • These parents have got to do better, when it comes to raising their kids with respect.

And the school system needs to do their goddamn job.

  • THANK you..true story: when i was in elementary/middle school i was bullied A LOT...physically and verbally..my mom literally called or visited the school every other week to complain...they got detention ONCE and the matter was left alone...EVEN though the bullying didn't end until we moved...so your right...the school system DOES NOT CARE. ..i for one think they should face criminal charges.

  • I agree.. but when the school system see the parents don't care, they feel like.. why should we even care??? cause parenting and teaching a child starts at home.. and if they dont get it from home, then most ppl aint gon give a fuck about that child cause its not their problem.. which is sad.

  • Damn

  • Exactly, I have an 11 y/o son that came to me the other day about some mess from this lil ignorant girl in his class. At first I was hesitant b/c I felt, he was a boy and this lil girl can't be doing that much to him UNTIL I actually listened to the isshhh that he was saying this lil heiffa was doing. I immediately contacted his teacher and the guidance counselor b/c somebody was gon' get hurt and that lil girl definitely needed some intervention! STAND UP FOR YOUR KIDS!

    ♪ kokofemme ♪

  • this just dont make any sense!!!!! these schools need to do better, our children are our future and if they keep killing themselves and acting as if they are something they arent to please others what is the world going to be in 5 to 10 years??????????

  • Schools don't care. They only care about either getting grades, gettin paid or makin the skool seem good to observes but when u go to it it's a complete n utter hell hole. Schools really need to fix up because these are the places that mould and shape the children. I'm 16 & i'm tellin u that my skool is a big reason y i am the way i am

  • cont' : And told them that if they didn't nothing about that I would, cuz I am tired of hearing this shit. I even gave my # for the mother and I talked to her and told her the same thing. She was like I'm gonna beat her ass when I get home, (yeah right) she even stated herself that she has to deal with this every year. (hint: whoop that ass and/or get her some damn help) before she comes up missing or some child loses their life. No wake muthafuckas it is bullying and it can turn violent.

  • But I saw this on the news the other day and it is so sad. They don't take it seriously when these kids and parents go to the school and report it. It is like they take it as you saying "they picking on my child". they just kids. I went and warned some people just last week about my 15 yearl old, about some damn 17 year olds fucking with her and her friends.

  • When I have children, anytime I find out that a child is 'bullying' my kid, I'm gonna be up in the school's ass and if THEY don't do anything, I'm going straight to the parent. I was never really "bullied" per se b/c I had a mouthpiece and my parents didn't have to worry about me. But my parents sure hell made sure that NOBODY fucked w/their children. Not blaming the parents here...I'm just speaking in general. Fuck the school system for letting this happen!

  • Yes indeed, I get the feeling that once you leave out, they laughing and talking like this shit aint serious when it is.

Cuz me as a parent, if they don't do anything about, I will handle it my damn self (any means neccesary) Just the way I feel about it.

  • Wow, that so sad. Good lookin Jia..

  • First comment......LOL

Just playing.....done it for the LULZ of the people that actually do this stupid mess.

And can't watch the vid right now it is still processing.
