  • Gravis Ultrasound FTW

  • MT32 forever! AdLib is pretty good, but 8-bit SoundBlaster gives you AdLib and a game port, making it awesome.

  • Much prefer the IBM original speaker :P

  • i hate most modern wave table synths. opl2 music will always be simply great. the way of composing the music itself for the card was an art.

  • The MT32 was a beast!

  • good work on the comparision

  • Man... reminds me of my old AWE 32 sound card....back when owning such a card was a big deal. Still go for creative sound cards but the quality difference compared to on-board is not humongous anymore. Speaking of size...i still have the card and it s over half a modern mobos size lol

I have an old 486 with an soundblaster pro builded in. I just use it like a synth. boot, open a music programm and then put a wire to its midi in (game port/ joystick). I like the old FM-synth. must be the same like this AdLib

I've still got my AWE32 as well, and still use it for DOS. But its friggin huge!

  • Timidity would be the bridge.

  • AdLib BEST <3

  • Adlib monkeys island kicked ass despite it's limitations. The Roland does a nice job of adding that carribean feel to the music tho.

  • the volume is so low that you need an amplified XFI to barely hear the sound ;))

  • Nicely done. Were you using a real AdLib MSC?
