MT32 forever! AdLib is pretty good, but 8-bit SoundBlaster gives you AdLib and a game port, making it awesome.

i hate most modern wave table synths. opl2 music will always be simply great. the way of composing the music itself for the card was an art.

Man... reminds me of my old AWE 32 sound card....back when owning such a card was a big deal. Still go for creative sound cards but the quality difference compared to on-board is not humongous anymore. Speaking of size...i still have the card and it s over half a modern mobos size lol

I have an old 486 with an soundblaster pro builded in. I just use it like a synth. boot, open a music programm and then put a wire to its midi in (game port/ joystick). I like the old FM-synth. must be the same like this AdLib

I've still got my AWE32 as well, and still use it for DOS. But its friggin huge!

Adlib monkeys island kicked ass despite it's limitations. The Roland does a nice job of adding that carribean feel to the music tho.

the volume is so low that you need an amplified XFI to barely hear the sound ;))
