@Assassin1101100 --He's calling "cadence" which is the voice command to keep the platoon in step. He is saying "Left right lo right" in his own personal inflection.
He gives them a few simple directional commands as well, column left (90 degree turn for formation progressively through ranks) ; a left flank (90 degree turn as a whole unit) and a left oblique (45 degree turn as a unit).
If any of you are already enlisted into the USMC DEP or are thinking about it, be sure to read through the Future Jarheads website. Wouldn't it actually be a column half left? Left oblique would mean every man in the unit would simultaneously turn at a 45 degree angle, not yielding the desired result.

@ositolincon most of it is left right left but he says column half left march toward the beginning then by the left flank march then by the right flank march then a left oblique march and a forward march with left and right between all those commands
Talk about memories...one thing I will never forget is how our drill instructors called cadence. D.I.s can call cadence like no else can! Also remember how cool drill looked/sounded when we finally came together and learned how to do it properly! Nothing in the world like it!!!
Good luck dont get down! remember the drill instructors are human lol. they are there to tear you down! and they will. mentally and physically gl remember your the future of he marine corps ! semper fi
Depends, but the Marines generally don't make as much as other branches. If you're considering it for the financial gain, join another branch. You probably won't get a sign on bonus in the Marines.
@planetcheck well first of all that isnt a walmart parkig lot second there is a point to this drill actualy many points. go read more about drill and then ask why is it important again
@azanzam You are required to learn as much as you could, including drills, during your time as a POOLEE. Basically, you're recruiter/recruiters are in charge of teaching you that.
@Hydro022 no mumbles, first command "road guards post" second is "column half left, march" third is "by the left flank, march" fourth is "by the right flank, march". fifth is "left oblique, march" sixth is "forward, march" every moving command is preceded with a preparatory command followed by an command to execute. you just need to know the terminology to understand what he's saying. he's actually very clear and precise about what he's saying. very important to close order drill.
well the drill instructor is calling cadence "left right left right" then he gives the "column half right" command and the platoon executes. Then he gives "by the left flank" followed by "by the right flank" next "left oblique" and finally "forward march"
@emerson133919 I would actually bet that that platoon was one of the drill nasty's in the company just from some of the stuff they do like anticipating the command and their alignment but idk it's been some time since i was at boot camp maybe it looks different from outside the platoon lol
"Drivin the bus" Looks like they are getting fitted for Alphas and Charlies or hittin the PX, maybe the bank to set up tickets for the usual ten day leave to Combat training. I was Dep'd in 96 and dropped my pack in 04 so its been a long time seen ive seen the "prison" OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhRRRaaaaaHHHHH Devil Dogs !!!
@jossanti314 ..Must you make yourself look silly with your comments? If you were a recruit, you would understand what he is saying. The Drill Instructor is not calling cadences for your silly butt, he's calling them for his platoon of USMC recruits.
If you want to one day become a Marine or are in the DEP, then there is a site linked on my profile page that you should read. It is a web site for FUTURE MARINES and it is filled with good honest info about the USMC.
There is also an email on that site where you can send your questions to an actual Marine who will answer them.
The link is on my profile page or on the USMC videos on my page.
@iosononapoletanovero "Left Right low right left!" Or do you mean the drill moves? at 0:50 hes saying "by the left flank" then "by the right flank". He says "left oblique" when u see the recruits doing a small angle turn.
@iosononapoletanovero He was shouting orders to drive his platoon or also called driving the bus.... He was saying left right left, by the left flank march and by the right flank march with a quick oblique that last part is to fine tune the direction. Its a language you learn in boot camp. I could turn up the sound and march in my living room just fine to what I heard
i went back to MCRD last july holy shit talk about chills hearing the DIs, and then when the drill master is talking to the parents teaching the about ears open eyes click that sent chills up my spine!!! but you gotta love the cadence hearing it never gets old. SEMPER GUMBY!!!
@thescariestbear What does it look like they're doing? They're blocking oncoming traffic, everytime they march pass any intersection and such, they have designated roadguards, and have them wear, reflective belts or vest, there's always 2 on the front end and 2 on the back end of the formation
they are road guards, in the begging of the video you can hear the drill instructor call for the road guards they run out and stop the cars from coming so the platoon doesnt have to wait for cars.
That was AWESOME!! Can't wait to get to San Diego for my recruit training.

If you want to one day become a Marine or are in the DEP, then there is a site linked on my profile page that you should read. It is a web site for FUTURE MARINES and it is filled with good honest info about the USMC.
There is also an email on that site where you can send your questions to an actual Marine who will answer them.
The link is on my profile page or on the USMC videos on my page.

can anyone tell me what the drill sergeant was shouting?
iosononapoletanovero 1 year ago
@iosononapoletanovero "Left Right low right left!" Or do you mean the drill moves? at 0:50 hes saying "by the left flank" then "by the right flank". He says "left oblique" when u see the recruits doing a small angle turn.

@iFaeZwuNi thanks man. thats all i needed!
iosononapoletanovero 1 year ago
@iosononapoletanovero He was shouting orders to drive his platoon or also called driving the bus.... He was saying left right left, by the left flank march and by the right flank march with a quick oblique that last part is to fine tune the direction. Its a language you learn in boot camp. I could turn up the sound and march in my living room just fine to what I heard

@iosononapoletanovero Never call a Marine Drill Instructor "DI, or Drill Sargeant..." You would most definitely get BLASTED!

What are the guys in orange doing?
thescariestbear 1 year ago
@thescariestbear What does it look like they're doing? They're blocking oncoming traffic, everytime they march pass any intersection and such, they have designated roadguards, and have them wear, reflective belts or vest, there's always 2 on the front end and 2 on the back end of the formation
DisbJ 1 year ago
they are road guards, in the begging of the video you can hear the drill instructor call for the road guards they run out and stop the cars from coming so the platoon doesnt have to wait for cars.
