Dear Kris - Life is measured by what you put into it. No one ever tried what you are doing in how you are doing it: for this critical topic at this critical time.
We can all see the care, hope, and effort you put into this work. We support you - and you make a difference. Keep it up!
If you're in California, David Blume is up in Santa Cruz (and once interviewed by Ms. Donaldson) and he is a brilliant advocate of home made ethanol production. He's quite a character, too. I want to sponsor him to come to Chicago and give presentations; I recommend him for an interview- if you're still doing that.
I know I am going to catch some flack for what I am going say here, I have spread the word about Oil to everyone that I can, especialy young people because end of oil is going to make their lives different from mine. I have installed solar, recycled, put a deposit down on a Smart car. My biggest problem is I hate gardening so that leave me only 2 options, steal food or just end it, because I will not dig in my little back yard for a few morsels. To the rest of ya I wish you the best!
hey, i'm sure there are people out there willing to garden your plot for you. in return, you receive half the vegetables. where there are problems, valhala, there are always solutions!
I apprecite the advice Kris, Keep up the good work. I guess this will be a good time to get off junk food AND I can grow some natural weed to trade for food at my local farmers market. I am going to do a video on it soon.
As someone who has his own share of mediocre videos on YouTube (and who can tend to be overly critical), I notice you have no videos of your own, Ziggy. Production values aren't everything. I think people appreciate the sentiment and the honesty when dealing with an extremely tough subject. It's also taken in the context of a bunch of very cool things Kris has already produced. Hence the high rating. Just my two cents.
Thanks, Kris. Really nice to hear your personal thoughts on the subject. Love what you're doing. Great you did the Permaculture course. I'm also a big fan of Janaia and Robyn's work at Peak Moment. Janaia and those wonderful videos have been an important addition to our site at PostCarbon Rhode Island. Can definitely empathize with your gardening experiences....but it gets better every year.
I agree! learning about peak oil and the unsustainability of our life made me become aware of my own individualism, and it helped me (it still is helping me) to "naturally" get washed of it. without really noticing, i began to dislike driving cars, i stopped aiming for good salaries, started to value the local human network much more... ¡Qué guapa eres Kris!
Hey me too! I know exactly how you feel. Kriscan, among others, helped me understand that the way we live isn't all that great, but a very fragile system of taking and taking without really giving anything back (To nature, to the other countries, and here in Holland particularly the government, which doesn't do a whole lot for us but take our money.)
So thanks Kris, for looking good and beeing so informative!
Great show....hmmm, I haven't gotten into gardening yet...but, be happy to trade some TOMATOES for a Parrotfish (as continue my free-diving ... and looking to move onto a boat soon...whoa...).
Thanks for all your work. I'd like to hear more about what you have found personally challenging about responding to peak oil. I find that for most people, at least where I live, the biggest psychological hurdle seems to be overcoming their addiction to effortless mobility.
good for you, now help the other 99% of women to get their heads out of their asses and learn about everything you just summarized.
no really, I love these videos of women talking about real issues.
