  • I wish people would stop putting down women who don't want to be in pain during labour, if you want to stay in the dark ages and have intense pain then go for it, everyone is free to make their own decision, but for women who just want their baby in a pain free environment then they have every right to do so! Long live pain killers and epidurals!

  • I imagine Sofie couldn't get out of bed after birth?

  • EPIDURAL ROCKS!!!!

  • i think people are fucking IDIOTS arguing over the internet. :)

  • @corkykort1393 Wrong... People can be very intelligent and thoughtful in an online argument. Debating is actually a great excersize for the mind, if you do it right. It's also a great way to examine and understand different sides of important arguments (ie. different political parties, wether you support war or abortion, etc.) Why else do you think debate clubs exist in schools?

  • Umm, kinda agree with Winter here. I think he/she is arguing that women's empowerment isn't just about equality and confidence anymore, it can be about neglecting your kids in favor of your job. It's an issue BOTH men and women should face equally, because it's both their faults.

  • @123batty Feminism to me is basically fighting against sexism of any kind. I think the attempt at being "superwoman" is mainly the result of women trying to bend to both of society's pressures to be independant (having your own money to spend, your own career...) and the demand to be June Cleaver. Men have neglecting kids in favor of their job too, but I don't think it gets as much venom as when a woman does it.

  • well,if i'll get pregnant, ill deff go for an epidural or a c-section.I am starting to shake even thinking about childbirth,i am SURE if id have to give birth naturally,it would be the last day of my life. My heart would not handle it too...excuses excuses but im pretty sure about it/

  • You can not throw your opinion around as facts..... Yes we all know that a natural birth can be done, but it's a personal decision if you want to do it. I remember being in labor for 3 days and I was too tired to even blink. Plus my daughter didn't come out drugged up, she was awake and ready to nurse like any natural born baby would be. And just FYI the most tramatic experience in a persons life is going through the birth canal, you just don't remember it obviously.

  • I'm not and will not judge you. As you stated, you have a right to do things as you decide. Hey, it's YOUR body. All I can do is offer a view that is highly looked down on because modern medicine has scared women into not accepting it. My wife and I (yes, I'm male) are very drug free (especially "medicinal") and we live very healthy lives due to our diet. Women let off endorphins during pain of labor. Birth Euphoria is robbed from the woman and baby if that natural procedure is tampered with.

  • This is sooooo bad. Women are being drugged up in the hospital and it's killing babies. Women are very strong. They have been made to believe that they are weak and need these things. They need this because it's difficult for a woman to give birth on her back. It's counterproductive. The woman needs to move. Midwives and unassisted have a WAY LESSER MORTALITY rate because it's how nature intended it. Please research and don't let "modern" medicine scare our powerful women.

  • Mortality rates are higher cuz of pitocin. Yes an epidural can slower your contractions and they want to give u pitocin but it's up to the mother whether to accept the pitocin. Since it makes the contractions unaturally strong and puts babies in distress which usually leads to a csection. So don't go putting moms down for taking pain relief cuz many need it.

  • I don't put anyone down. I just want women to become educated in order to make the best decision possible. C-Sections are almost at %50 of all US births. When asked, most women didn't even know they had an option of a home birth. It's sad that modern medicine has scared women into believing they can't do it on their own. Just getting the word out. That's all. I don't judge.

  • ok u know that's much better... now you are actually speaking where someone can listen, because once you start off like you did the last time people get offended and don't care about facts... I would def go with a home birth... I would love that... all natural is definatly something great... just wouldn't have the money to do it... no insurance for a midwife, which is sad.. but it's good to let people know that it is an option... cuz laboring on your back in a hospital WILL lead to an epidural

  • No insurance for a midwife is truly as sad thing. Insurance companies can't make any money off of that so they don't offer it. Now, if you have someone that you trust and you trust yourself, unassisted homebirth is great. My wife and I are going that route. It costs ONLY 50 BUCKS for the birthing kit. Seriously. Now, if there's a complication, we have a route to the nearest hospital. If it's well prepared, home birthing is just as safe or safer than a hospital birth.

  • Remember, you're more immune to the "germs" in your own home that you are to the ones at the hospital. True story. Therefore, there is little worry for illness through such means.

  • I wish I knew someone around here. I remember just breastfeeding my daughter that people where freaked out. Idk why but this generation is so against natural things. Plus we don't have a car in case of an emergancy. I would love to do most of it at home anyways cuz I know from the last time that lying down is the worst thing to do while in labor. Have you guys read that book from midwife Ina May Gaskin. I saw videos of her here.she talks about how kissing laughing relaxing will help u dialate.

  • Hm. No. But I'll take a look at it. Thanks.

You know, not to beat a dead horse...but, you can have an ambulance on call for the big day if you decide to do it. Just call any company covered by your insurance the day you go into labor and let them know you want them on call. Most will do it. If they say no, you can just go to another. Most insurances will cover ALL ambulance companies, even private ones. Just make sure you find out ahead of time.

  • It's as simple as doing some research. I promise, it's not too hard. The problem is that modern medicine has successfully scared women and suppressed this info.

  • Yea I know what you mean everyone thinks it's crazy LOL but I don't have insurance at all I'm going to a clinic for free. So I have to see cuz emergancy medicaid doesn't pay for anything LOL but I do have a midwife and I'm going to ask her. Just that clinic doctors/midwives don't deliver u. So idk. Im thinking of just getting a birthing kit online, and reading about the rest cuz the body knows what it's doing. Well good luck to u and your wife.

  • Thank you. :)

Same to you. I hope you are able to find the answers for which you are searching.

  • @nelsonbig

A germ is a germ. No matter how immune you are to anything, you can still get germs NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE.

  • @SinclairisCool A germ is a germ is, in no way, a factual statement. It's scientific common knowledge that different "germs" create vastly different effects on the body. Even like viruses have different strains (mutations) for which there are different effects. Take the flu for example. You take it every year because each year it's a different strain. You're forever immune to the previous years' strain. Also, it caries varying symptoms each year. I'm sorry Sinclairis, but your statement's wrong

  • @nelsonbig You do know that things are different for women in the UK don't you?

and that your comments only apply to the US?

  • @SinclairisCool yes, I know this. There are still some hopeful numbers there.

  • @nelsonbig Given that you're a male, I doubt you actually know strong/active/whatever all women are. Medicine can be wrong and manipulated. However, it is backed up by facts and centuries of research, countless amounts of knowledge of the human body, and cold hard facts. Medicine is not evil, is can be trusted. In fact, we would'nt be as healthy or live as long without medicine.

  • @perogie34 aaaand I replied to a year old comment. Go me! XP

  • @perogie34 Your assumption on my ignorance is ill conceived. You have no idea what I know about women and their physiology. But I will not explain myself on YouTube. I am here to empower women. However, you seem to take it as me attacking women.

Now, you mention Medicine. But Epidural is no Medicine as there is no sickness here. Childbirth is about as far from sick as a woman can be. It would be best to read up on what is an Epidural.

  • epidural is great! I know some women that like to go through a natural birth and all power to them, but nothing is robbed from a women who gets an epi (besides the pain :-) ) you can still feel when u gotta push, and the baby is already being "tramatized" trying to go down the birth canal anyways, so it's not like they would mind to get some of that loopiness LOL

  • Your statement is incorrect. There is something VERY IMPORTANT being robbed. The pain lets out an endorphin that has been know to cause a sense of euphoria between the mother and child. The baby is not traumatized. The baby cries because it's breathing for the first time.

Serious? You think drugging the baby is funny? These people tell you for nine months not to drink or do drugs. Yet, they pump you full of them when you're giving birth. Woman have had their power scared out of them.

  • @nelsonbig who gives a toss about the euphoria? id give up that not 2 go thru such pain! its quite easy for u 2 sit there & talk about how women should have natural births, but i think u would c it differently if u were in labour pushing something the size of a football out of ur nether-regions...many women go into labour with the intention of doing it naturally but the pain becomes too much to bear. apparently its the worst pain conceivable. worse than having ur leg chopped off. imagine that.

  • @TheBgoz Read that first statement again, you'd give up Euphoria to not have pain. It's contradictory.

I would never try to tell anyone what s/he 'should' do. I'm just here to provide information and you can do with it what you will.

Why call it a 'nether-regions'? Let's be adult about it. This is what I'm trying to do, inform adults, not banter.

You state 'apparently'. It leads me to believe that you have not given birth yourself. So, why sell yourself short? Don't you even want to try?

  • @nelsonbig nope. are you a dude?

  • Ahaha she's acting so stoned.

I am sooooo getting an epidural if I ever have kids.

  • PeaceLoveEternity ...your full of crap! Its a womans choice. Why be in all that pain if u dont have to be? your probalay a dirty hippie with no insurance! What do u want everyones sympathy? we dont care how long u were in labor for!

  • You're an idiot. Ignorant hippies like you are why our ancestors are rolling in their graves! Do you think they wanted to feel their skin ripped apart in the most tender of areas? No, and if they were to walk in and see you had the option and OPTED for pain, they'd slap you - just like want to.

  • well that's your choice. labor pain is just too much for some women. i for example have a very low threshold for pain. i can't even take period cramps.

  • I had and Epidural with my first son, i was in labor for 22 hours my water broke on it's own i had issues dialiating, but when i finally got to a 4 they gave it to me. many people say it hurt, the contractions depends on you ability to handle pain, but if your having contractions. and Epidural is like getting a shot except for in you back, i had no issues with it it was done probally when i gave birth to my son i could feel it but not really i just felt the pessure of him comming out.

  • i love epidural

  • I'm confused, people are telling me epidural is no good and there's no point in getting it because they usually give it to you when you are close to having the baby and after watching this video, it looks like she's loving it.

  • I am a medical student , and yes continous epidural lumbar infusion dramatically reduces ur pain in labour and is almost 99% safe

  • let me tell you from experience, epidural is the absolute best thing in the world. when you feel your insides literally turning out, any is great. however, it DOES slow down contractions. mine all but stopped ant i was given pitocin to start them back up. if you want it remember, YOUR THE ONE PUSHING THAT BABY OUT!

  • Women who choose pain over an epidural are less cuddely with their babies when they come out. So sad! :-(

  • Lol, bullfuckingshit. Who told you that?

  • HAHAA, she seems slightly loopy.

I'm still so on the fence about whether or not I want an epidural. I've got 4 months to decide, but I'm afraid of the pain just as much as missing out on the whole birth experience.

  • Get one! They are great and you will enjoy the experience of giving birth a heck of a lot better. The only down side might be that you'll have to wait a few hours longer to fully dialated.

  • And I might not be able to push correctly, and my baby could have trouble breastfeeding and even breathing until the drug wears off.

  • Pushing is a myth..the baby comes out on its own.

  • Lol

  • All that screaming for nothing :-)

  • I understand why some women are into the whole natural thing. We did it for thousands of years. Some women are for natural because it's "healthier" for their baby supposedly. They think by not injecting themselves with "drugs" it will protect their child even though they are going to be vaccinated with drugs after they are born anyways. Some women just feel like it's empowerment. But whatever the reason you do what is right for you. When I have a child I'm getting pain relief. You bet your ass.

  • people just SHUT-UP!!!! if she wants the drug let her get the drug its her choice i would choose a painless childbirth than a painful one anyday and the baby looks the same when its commin out epidural or not GROSS so leave it alone you had a natural drugless child birth GOOD FOR YOU *clap clap* you happy now SHUT UP

  • I am going to have a baby in two months, al I have to say is; u ppl that think natural birth is best, shut up! Seriously u ppl cant be serious, its none of your concern how we women decide to have OUR child(or children in some cases). So just shut up, just because we dont want to fell the agonizing pain of childbirth; dosen't mean we are not going to have a great experience of birth. IDIOTS

  • Um all you need is gas and air?!

  • WOW! You dont know when you have a contraction. I hope you know that your having a baby ???

  • Natural birth does not make you special for fucks sake! Get over yourselves you damn narcassists!

  • I dunno, I certainly respect and honor my mother for giving birth to 5 of us 6 kids without any meds. I respect any woman who can get through it all. I dunno if I'll be able to... I hope so... lol.

  • what the fuck, dude?

  • I've said it once and I'll say it again: Personally, I see nothing wrong with having an epidural. I myself plan to do the same, why be in excruciating agony for possibly hours on end when you can have the epidural and have a relatively painless delivery? I don't understand why some people think it's such a horrible thing to do, but to each there own I suppose...

  • Epidural=good. I'm so getting one if at all possible when I get pregnant! :)

  • Superwoman went out with the 80's! Get with the times!

  • @Winter077 Let me get this straight. You're stating that women should not be "Superwomen"? I'm sorry, but empowering women is needed in today's world. You can be the submissive girlie if you'd like. I'm sure, however, that many women would completely disagree with you and would WANT to be a Superwoman.

  • @nelsonbig Superwoman was the ultimate brainwashing tool. "empowering" women by urging them to go to work all the while dumping their kids off at day care, has got to be one of the most clever money making ideas ever. True empowerment comes from within, not the twisted elite, which is where this female empowerment stuff originated from. Are women nowadays happier? Are familys happier?are children happier?I dont think so,most are too caught up in materialism funded by the whole empowerment scam.

  • @Winter077 I think you're on the wrong page here. I never mentioned anything about women "dumping" their kids off at daycare.

I believe a woman should be allowed to bond with her child as much as possible.

You're venting to the wrong person. The "superwoman" I'm speaking of is one who is powerful enough for natural childbirth and to make her INFORMED decision, not working at a steel mill.

Woman have been stripped of their inner strength by having been made believe that childbirth is a curse.

  • @nelsonbig Whats needed in todays world is truth.

  • @nelsonbig And that's why you and most american women will never be happier longer than it takes to eat a doughnut. You strive to be superwomen, an impossible task.

  • @Winter077 Why not? Men have tried to fool us is for ages into thinking that every male is Superman, and that women are just sidekicks.

  • Thank the Lord for epidurals!

  • Having an epidural or not is an extremely personal decision that can only be made by the woman actually undergoing the pain... having a natural childbirth does not make u a hero, just like getting the epidural does not make u a wimp. It's ur actions after u have the baby that make u a good or bad mom, so get over it already!

BTW, since u're such a proponent of natural birth, would u also get vaginal stitches without a painkiller, in case of an episiotomy? That's the way they did it before!

  • i've honestly never heard of epidural being a "gateway drug" to hardcore street drugs. that's kinda funny haha.

  • @Winter077 Your statement is contradictory. For one, if you actually believe in The Lord, you should know he's the one that cursed woman for all time to have pain during childbirth. He did this because of Eve eating the apple off the tree of knowledge.

Also, I'm not too sure that the Lord would allow the design of a process that may hinder childbirth and even permanently disable mom and/or baby. And, epidurals are a HUGE money maker. I don't think the Lord would appreciate the exploitation.

  • @nelsonbig Yes, I believe in God.

You could also argue that epidurals save thousands of lives. Did you forget that part?

  • @Winter077 thank science. he had nothing to do with it as he doesn't exist! HAHA

  • @BrendanIsCool Of course he did, you just don't know it yet.

  • @Winter077 can you explain how an epidural works? can you explain how evolution works? can you explain quantum theory? field theory? etc etc I could go on for hours. Until you understand the majority of the mechanisms of these phenomena, you and your 'god' will not be taken seriously. It's easier to just believe things happen magically, than to work and study for years and years.

  • @BrendanIsCool I don't give a crap if you take me seriously, or not. I'm not out to convert you..what you believe is your business, get over yourself.

  • @Winter077 I don't have to believe- I have the ability to pursue evidence in observable reality. It's one of the perks of being intelligent.

  • @BrendanIsCool It's one of the perks of being human lol..
