This worked on my 80GB PS3. I'm sure it works on all of them. It shot out a huge cloud of dust when I did this, didn't fix my laser but obviously cleaned out my PS3.

@2beg2began This is a "fan test" not an "auto clean" and I'm pretty sure it causes the PS3 to over-heat. This is not the proper way to clean the unit and it should never be used.

Say for example your game is stuck inside if the PS3 does a yellow light on you (equivalent to the 360 red rings), this feature will allow you to get the game or disc out. It should really only be used in that case if something is already wrong with your PS3 and you have a disc lodged inside.

it works for the smaller 120 and 250 too. you just have to remove the power plug in the back of the console, hold down the eject button and plug in the power again. you should hear till you hear 3 beeps after 5 to 6 seconds. Wooooosh! after its done and has shut down remove and re insert the plug. dont do this if the machine is hot. only on a cold start.

Thats fucken dumb your fan is spinning at high speed meaning if you keep doing it the motor that spins the fan will die plus you wreck your ps3 all the inside parts get a lot of air blown on them from the fan and wrecks them

@StandupH2o When you use fantest you dont increas the voltage, to make the fan speed faster, you still dont increase the voltage, you increase the current or the amps.

Say i have a waterwheel, the more water that falls on the wheel, the faster the wheel spins.

Also the max amps the ps3 fan will use is 2.8 and plus theres a resister on the fan board that will resist any current that is inputted to the fan thats over 2.8 so the fan will never have to risk the motherboard overcurrenting it.
