I think I'm probably part of the "FF VII generation". I was one of the millions of kids who still see Sephiroth as the ultimate fictional villain. It's a truly great game, but Final Fantasy VIII is something special. Maybe even because it wasn't so successful. It's harder to understand, and certainly more grown-up than it's predecessor, but alongside Morrowind, it's the best game I've ever played. I have watched the final scene countless times, and I don't think I'll ever grow tired of it.

...I will officially be labeled a troll and be yelled at for seeing this, but Final Fantasy VIII's storyline was really silly in many ways, and the love story's quality is rather lowered by the fact that Squall really is a whiny emo git and Rinoa was sleeping with Seifer.

And boy, was she a pain! It all depends onwhat junctions and abilities you have in place when you fight her. Her first form is easy enough, despite the random character thing, but things get hairy from there!

That makes no sense. The enemies you fight at always around your level. Once you hit level 99, they can't get stronger then you. It's the skill you use to fight with. If you loose alot then you gotta rethink your stategy. Usually When I get to an area, I put the most commonly used magic on my health so when ever I fight something it usually ends up healing me half the time. That tactic makes the game easier. Just set it up so attack heal you instead. Triple cast and reflect are great to use.

@Netkiller3714 you know what... I thought exactly the same thing! But it turns out that, actually, the lower your level the easier it is to beat the enemies towards the end of the game. If you watch a youtube 'no-levelling' walkthrough you'll see what I mean. Ultima weapon was defeated in less than 5, and only dealt 200 damage, didn't even get to use 'light pillar'. Low levels and powerful magics means you barely even have to use strategy.Though that also makes it boring :P

Hint for you: keep 3 of your party members weak because the enemies (including bosses) will be scaled to your partys average level. (3 *99 + 3* 10)/6 = 50 or so. hehehe. ulti dies easy that way

My first time Ultimecia took like an hour to beat. lol. It's multipul battles in one. It's not really hard at all. More frustrating if anything. All she usually does is put your health to 1, then you heal up, then she does it again. And this goes on for like 20 minutes until you give her agood slap and she start's pulling other even more annoying moves that bring the battle nowhere. I honestly do beleive that the final boss in FF8 is probably the most aggrivating one to fight.

Aki's cover of "Eyes On Me" is much better for several reasons, the major one being that Aki is much better at singing in English than Ms. Wong.

Not to mention the fact that the really broken Engrish in this song is much less noticeable in Aki's version. I like the song, but honestly, Wong's voice is just not enough to carry the bad translation of the lyrics.

Faye wong is a great singer, and she's singing much other good music than this song, BUT still... this is her totally best all time. :o)

I know that people say that FF10 had the worst story but I would have to say the FF12 had the worst story there wasn't any real type of emotion only the want for revenge and there wasn't any love in the game. Final Fantacy VIII is my favorite. I love this game and this song which is sang by Faye Wong. But, unfortunately since FF Japanese version came out it sucked both on story and song. So, I gave up this game for ages. I hope a new series will come out soon then well i may end up to play it again.
