I'll speak from a friend's perspective when I speak of Larry because we both grew up listening to Motown and following the trends of Chicago-based music (we both grew up there) even though we went down 2 different paths. Heard became a legend of House Music because he was an innovator and never gave up on it. CAN YOU FEEL IT is a sampling of the Jacksons in concert of a song by the same name, the video for Feel It ressurected for the Jacksons largely on behalf of this project. Can you feel that?
@Dicalit Yes, the production aesthetic of this cut, especially the dub mix - vocals to percussion to bass to break - had indeed a major influence on the House genre. Not to mention "Reach Up" incorporated the latest and most high-tech synthesizers and sound machines at the time. But Toney Lee's "Reach Up" was first and foremost a Disco/Dance classic.
@djhozer You mean Deep House music. You have to go all the way back to the 70s, the Disco era in particular, to find those tracks that influenced the genre aesthetically & fundamentally.
The saddest song of all time.

This is not the record shown in the video. This is a crap bootleg of the Trax original which is pretty much despised by Larry Heard.

No. Toney Lee's Reach Up made house the first time, 1982. But surely, I do know, what you mean, Great memories :-).
