Im not the biggest Jay Z fan, but this song and video was HOT! The girls in this video, and the way they ticked their body as they were dancing was SICKENING!!
Why does music have to be "political", or at least at the level of what people that look for politics in music. Music is relaxation for those of us that have credentials in politics, independent studies in politics, and awareness of our true surroundings. Pick up a book. Otherwise, Shut the F*** up and enjoy entertainment for entertainment's sake.
@BrotherBoresIsBest It's about the history. East coast vs west coast. Seems like the west coast g funk took over. I love that sound but hip hop came from new york and east coast hip hop was always fueled by political messages
im really noobish at this so i ask you ... "how god is Jay-Z Technicaly as a Rapper.. i mean .. i read something about limitation of fantasy about him. what does that mean ? XD
@MikeCitytv I like Jay-Z but he's no where near to Pac. Biggie isn't either. Biggie is the best lyrical rapper to live but there is a wall that won't be broken to Pacs level. Ask anybody in the hood they will tell you the same. Only two to maybe 3 tupac records didn't go plat so do research. An if you listen to all eyes on me Method Man and Redman are on it so he wasn't beefing with all East Coast rappers.
@MikeCitytv You said Tupac wouldn't be that famous if he were alive today. You must be slow. Tupac really was just warming up. He died at 25 and he already motivated so many people who knows how far he could go. Jay-Z limited talent along with all the other rappers you mentioned. When you can motivate people and touch people the way he did. To talk about his fame is stupid. He was way to smart for his own good. "Im not gonna change the world but I bet I spark the brain that does"
The only reason why people don't consider Jay to be the greatest is because he aint dead yet. We jump on everyone's dick when they die. If pac and biggie were alive today, they likely would be retired and have a reality show done on VH1. Longevity is the test of greatness. This dude is forty years old, and is still releasing #1 albums, and even his first #1 hit. He a one of the most powerful hip hop moguls, and one of the wealthiest. Most young MC's credit Jay for their influence than any others
@MikeCityTv Mike what the fuck are you smocking on, if pac and biggie were alive today jay-z would not be as big as he is today and one of the reason jay-z became big was because biggie died, and why wasn't jay-z famous when pac and biggie were alive, you see is great but you saying pac and biggie would be in a reality show is like saying donald trump would be broke ten years from now, even when 2pac was alive he was considered the greatest i mean he went at every body on the eastcoast,
@flowsyou89 And no, tupac wouldn't be that famous if he were alive today. Close to when he died, he attacked nearly the whole east coast, which around that time was becoming really successful. The East Coast is the Mecca of hip hop, and if u piss off the east coast, consider your rap career over. There's more people, and waaayyyy more rappers on the east coast. And Nas, Biggie, Jay-Z, Big L, Method Man, etc. massacre Tupac lyrically. Tupac is one of the greatest due to his passion and message.
@MikeCityTv pac went at LL cool J that why they killed him, if pac was alive maybe he would had more number one album i mean he touched everybody, and jay-z might not even be famous today.
@flowsyou89 Jay was at the beginning of his career around the time when biggie and pac was killed. and tupacs first album didn't have close to the success as Reasonable Doubt. I love Tupac and Biggie, but u say that jay-z wouldn't be famous if pac was alive, well, my answer to that is, Snoop wasn't that far behind pac fame and successwise. Where is he now? His last two albums didn't even go gold. Pac was the most passionate rapper, but lyrically, Jay-Z murks him all day long. And that's a fact
@MikeCityTv man u dumb as hell hit em up had ALL them new york niggaz scared hence jayz didn't get involved in the beef and pac dissed him multiple times. jay is the man but would never fuck with pac. reasonable doubt came out after pac was dead. that album was finished when pac was alive. would you had brought your first album out with the nigga pac destroying your whole set meaning NEW YORK. Jay ain't stupid he smart.
Pac and biggie are definately one of the greatest, but success is also a key factor in greatness. Jay has more #1 albums than any other musical artist in history, and has a wider fanbase than Pac or Biggie ever had. Being the most lyrical doesn't make u the greatest. Nas is one of the most lyrical rapper in the game ever, but you can't play nas at a club. Nas doesn't kno how to write catchy hooks. Nas is more of a teacher, poet, and a story-teller, not an entertainer, which is a big part of rap
man this osng went perfect at the end of blue streak....as soon martin kissed the diamond and jumped in the air it was on...after listening to this thru the credits i wanted to watch it all over again just to get back to the credits
This is the last song (Hova Song Outro) on the bonus tracks of Vol. 3: Life and Times of S. Carter.
People do not know about good hip-hop anymore. Even this was not politically aware enough but it was inspirational. That's lacking from "Rap" nowadays.

He's not talkin' about wanting diamonds for himself dumbass . He's talkin' about being able to provide the materialistic things for her hence "Girls best friend" which is him, ( her best friend) not the diamonds .

I hated on that dude until just about when "The Black Album" came out. Now I go back and see what a great music career this guy has had! I'm a huge fan now.... And to top it off, "In My Lifetime Vol. 1" (His second album) is now one of my favorites!
so really it was all about that good 1998 fa JAY-Z I'LL say wit dat hard knock life vol 2 album its hard to say cuz wit dat hard knock life hit in 98 it was rediculous...
It's not shorthand. It's slang for moronic uneducated trash. The purpose of shorthand is to shorten words, so you can take notes faster. You were just misspelling words because you think it looks cool. So get back on the SHORT bus, "muthafucka"!
see you da dumb bitch cuz you on here wasten yo fuckin tyme reading wat the fuck i jus said i bet you undastand when i said you a dumb ass bitch!! ya got that ass hole get the fuck off my sack bitch! stupid muthafukas on this shit aint got shit else betta ta do and what u jus explained about shorthand writing you just explained wat the fuck i been doing cuz everybody else got it...stay fuck out my biz FUCK BOI!!!!

LOL. You say you know how write and that youtube comments are a waste, then you go on to write me two replies, each full of errors. You're a fucking failure! LMAO.
mane like wat is you a fuckin english grammer teacher??? atleast i could respect it but you brotha gone sumwhere and take yo pussy smelling ass an go to sleep sound like a fuckin bitch on this computer getin online everytime emailing a nigga fag ass..sound tired as a bitch go to sleep hoe if ya tired be quite and go to sleep hoe aye correct me if im wrong but aint thats slang (LMAO)???? or whateva the fuck dat b.s. u be talkin you a FUCKIN GEORGE AZZ NIGGA!!!!!
man im thru wasten tyme talkin to sum fool named ant on a computer...do you a have b#@ch?? i bet you sum type of computer geek aint you?? man fuck it stop fuckin e-mailing me folks you gay as b@#CH!! im thru wit ugh! alergic to fagets...
ok man yea big pimpin wuz 99' but U my friend do the rest of yo research on wen JAYZ became commercial/mainstream dude cuz IZZO is the hit off the BLUEPRINT...which drop in 2001 not 2000 brotha! oh an ima give you a hint when JAY-Z became da man quinnsanity8 wuz rite bout how he blew up wit da imfamous R.D. and it was his third championship ring wit his jr album known as da danasty! wit big time hits lik "hard knock life" u blow up wen u mak songs that everybody relates 2 an he made UGK
quinsannity, that's fine with me. We just have a difference of opinion. There is nothing wrong with that. Big Pimpin was definitely a crossover hit in 1999. That was probably the first time UGK was heard by a national audience.
I'll make a slight correction, I think it was 2000 when Jay-Z became a commercial/mainstream artist(the Roc La Familia album or whatever it was called). That's the time he started making songs like 'H to the IZZO' and 'I just wanna love you'
quinnsanity, calling me retarded may be impressive to an IDIOT like yourself and yungrobt, but you both may want to check the release date of this song and figure out who needs to get their facts straight.
This is one of the best songs Jay-Z ever did. It came out before he became a mainstream/commercial artist around 2001 so more people do not know about this song.
are you retarted? 2001? LOL ok buddy, im pretty sure HOV released Reasonable Doubt in '96 and dropped hard knock life and blew up big pimpin wit UGK all before the turn of the century.... get your facts straight my fellow white brotha.
I remember I taped this video in June of 1999, I was 8 years old and i'm 17 now damn time flies! But it's a shame hip hop went from this to the gay ass bullshit we have now, it's a terrible shame.
wats up wit jay's pants on this one? looks like bell bottems...
but this man right here is the best at it no doubt..at least from the every album from before kingdome come was solid although kingdome come was alright and American Gangsta could be considered classic material...
this was a hot song but it didnt get play liek that because Eve came out with similar shit at the exact same time. "Gotta Man". Both beats by Swiss. Eve won.
lol wow i thought i was the only one who thought that. Yea i rememba this song came out as the same time as Eve's Gotta Man and i loved them both cuz they sounded a lot alike.
Im not the biggest Jay Z fan, but this song and video was HOT! The girls in this video, and the way they ticked their body as they were dancing was SICKENING!!

ok man yea big pimpin wuz 99' but U my friend do the rest of yo research on wen JAYZ became commercial/mainstream dude cuz IZZO is the hit off the BLUEPRINT...which drop in 2001 not 2000 brotha! oh an ima give you a hint when JAY-Z became da man quinnsanity8 wuz rite bout how he blew up wit da imfamous R.D. and it was his third championship ring wit his jr album known as da danasty! wit big time hits lik "hard knock life" u blow up wen u mak songs that everybody relates 2 an he made UGK
Yungrobt 3 years ago
Quick, call the cops! This man just killed the english language!
Willech 3 years ago
quinsannity, that's fine with me.
That's the time he started making songs like 'H to the IZZO' and 'I just wanna love you'

quinnsanity, calling me retarded may be impressive to an IDIOT like yourself and yungrobt, but you both may want to check the release date of this song and figure out who needs to get their facts straight.
seeehorn 3 years ago
I calling you out on the fact that you think Jay-Z became a commercial artist around 2001.
I think became a commercial artist when he dropped R.D.
quinnsanity8 3 years ago
oh yea cuzzo u aint have to break it down to em like dat!?!? LMFAO!!!
Yungrobt 3 years ago
man im still bumpin my head to dis shit famo
Yungrobt 3 years ago
This is one of the best songs Jay-Z ever did. It came out before he became a mainstream/commercial artist around 2001 so more people do not know about this song.
seeehorn 3 years ago
are you retarted? 2001? LOL ok buddy, im pretty sure HOV released Reasonable Doubt in '96 and dropped hard knock life and blew up big pimpin wit UGK all before the turn of the century.... get your facts straight my fellow white brotha.

this was a hot song but it didnt get play liek that because Eve came out with similar shit at the exact same time. "Gotta Man". Both beats by Swiss. Eve won.
KaratCake 4 years ago
lol lol lol....eve won???:S riiiiiiiiiiiiiighht..
kesioku 4 years ago
Eve's song was #1 on the charts plus getting play on all radio formats from rap to pop. This song wasn't. Hence, "Eve won".
Use your brain when read comments from "Karatcake".
KaratCake 4 years ago
lol wow i thought i was the only one who thought that. Yea i rememba this song came out as the same time as Eve's Gotta Man and i loved them both cuz they sounded a lot alike.
